lol! I so had this idea, only it was wiring LED's to one of those plastic web spheres and painting it silver. This is such a neat idea. :)

I like the idea of a size changing lamp. I like to see a special lamp that automatically lowers itself to a comfortable height from the ceiling in order to change the bulb, and also to automatically adjust the brightness without using the typical dimmer switch. Does that sound possible?

Don't try to be funny. In fact its nice to have a little innovation for the convenience and the added expense of trying to change a lightbulb from a very high ceiling. I don't want to bring the ladder in to scratch those hardware floors, mind me on this.

Theres the old so called gamblers lamp that use to be around with a pully system that you could pull down to work on and then have the weight draw it back up. Gamblers would pull it down low to the table to shed more light on their cards. I've seen some still around in DIY stores, but you have to keep an eye out for them. Some are very decorative.
