  • my creative liberty is tempting me to hasten to the point of penance, we could be rejoined if you employ forgiveness, sell it all, tell'em hell is nothing but a cell wall, Ima soar even as the shell...fall...Down, shed not a tear for my exodus, Im here in the protectorate, the fear I held was delicate, to Break it, simply took a leap of faith and virtue, serve through, I never meant to hurt you, for certain Ill be Down,

  • I Break it, so never they perpetuate the malady, abashedly accommodate mortality, undoubtedly Im Down, to reconsider, Ill stay if you can make a promise though, Please keep it real close and dont, Break it and Im investigating other ways out Will rebuilds what the bottle destoryed, Im downhill standing still at the bottom of Roy, where the pass over 1-5 looks alive much as anything, cling to the side and any sign of your memory,

  • upon waking the facial expression deigns a satiable exchange, weather shades drawn, either side of a storm rages on, patiently the fawn awaits the day the rain's gone, in my defense I claim its obvious Im not him, probably its the toxin - sorry its a lot been unresolved, sick since six, seen'em revolve arounda small town, 'click' call it quits - bring all them walls Down, finally Ima defeat the rival, with a rifle, writing my epistle titled "try cycle",

  • time and time again Ive been told, that a focus on the flaws of mans off-center ten-fold,

stricken with the winter cold, sippin the burnin hot, a spill will blister, learn not to leave

skin exposed, stitch it up and pray the kid recover nicely, And I might have if not for daddy's bad advice, hes the type to fight God but not a nice, grip the heater twice as hard - its this

reality I battle nightly, even in sleep it seems flights unattainable

  • @101Jared " god but not a nice" nice is supposed to be vice **

  • will the tempest hail another victim in cyclical rhythm? Please Break it,

'cause honestly the lie "I try tirelessly" is cowardice, Powerless am I to fight this avarice,

Im Down, to give over control, the soul's solely urs, Deal and dispose, but keep it real close

  • great beat, but what the hell is he saying

  • @bbsessions The lyrics are online, but it's basically it's about going through some rough shit and wanting to commit suicide. That's oversimplifying it, but you only get so many characters here.

  • @bbsessions are you serious?

  • @101Jared totally serious dude, hes saying sylables but they dont sound like words, this ain't a place for a man of faith I cant pull it all away... after that, what the hell is he saying?

  • @bbsessions "this aint a place for a man of faith I gamble it all away, tumble into fall abased and ablaze, cant fault or blame fam, they parade arrays of aid and praise, saints patronized by the razor blade, Dismayed and fazed and maybe I assay the prize, stay alive or prepared - scared aint no way to die, though if my ache could be assuaged by sin, I'll make it bleed fate, racing to the gate pleading "take me in" Im, down, unable prevail unassisted" thats as much as i could fit

  • @bbsessions thats from 0:23 to 0:46

  • That makes 4 unprepared for winter

  • Comment removed

  • Hey any idea how to contact the artist so i could use their music in one of my videos? Im trying to make a video here in Alaska and this video pretty much fits it.

  • This masterpiece WILL NEVER leave my iPod, and I will listen to it everyday.

  • Chilled out !

  • What sample is this?

  • i dont like the very end part it sounds stupid but the rest is incredible

  • @ShirtlessManRave11 That is because the songs in the album are supposed to be played sequentially. I think after winter takes all comes Weather Vane

  • so how come people dislike common market... i dont get??

  • now its 2 days row to listen this:D

  • What song is the girls voice at 0:03 from? It's also sampled throughout the song.

  • eyedea and common market personify yin and yang

  • I can relate to these guys man, lyrics are great, just wish i could spit it to others too. greatest artists ever

  • damn i gotta give mad props to the 206, they produceing ill mc's yo

  • miss this song

  • soo glad they are from my city

  • Nice track! Mad smooth.

  • Amazing song!

  • haha is ur user name from the move idiocracy? or ...

  • Blue Scholars and Common Market should do a collab. album. That'd be absolutely amazing. Two gifted rappers + One gifted DJ = Perfection?

  • Makes me happy c;

  • Four of us never prepared for winter

  • Lyricism at its finest, that is all..

  • beautiful song, why does all 'modern rap' shit, have to be so balls. all you need is skill, lyrics, flow, and style. Common market have all in abundance, make the hairs on neck stand up! -pure skill and flow.... awesome!!!

  • All the best hip-hop these days comes from one of two cities: Seattle or Detroit

  • Im a seriously hardcore metalhead but this, literacy, really threw me back, i have to show people who listen to radio rap this, or they'll die in the musical sense, well, the music sense can only be the sense of life. no?

  • i used to listen this a lot during school times...damn..

  • TGR Re:session brought me here and I'm glad for that cause this is damn good music...

  • Bon Iver of hip hop. Song's cold!

  • 0:03 seconds in and i am already zen

  • Yea fuck Lil Wayne and all those typical statements pledging your allegiance to real hip-hop, but real hip-hop isn't only white or hipsters haha. Check Elzhi, Skyzoo, Slum Village, Sene, Blu, The Roots, De La Soul. Dope MCs are dope MCs no matter color so don't bring that in. I hate hearing that shit. Too many of you hipster-hop kids are one sided in your opinions.

And for the record RA Scion is a beast. Don't get me wrong.

  • Im from the Bay Area and here everyone says only black men can really rap, but the Seattle rap scene is proving all of that wrong. Common Market, Macklemore, Blue Scholars. This stuff is legit

  • @sfgalltheway I'm from the bay too and i feel the same way bro. This is real hip hop.

  • HE is the BESSSST lyricist in the game! he just isnt known yet! what a shame. This music need to be shared across the world to inspire!

  • ski to this track all day

  • i effin love this track !!!!!

  • check out the rapper Tatlock, he's kind of hard to find cuz he's so new but he is about to release his first EP in like 2 days

  • listen to the song honest expression by binary star. very good :)

  • @MrSupersquidwardable hearing that song for the first time was what sent me searching for real rap and what helped me find Common Market.

  • brilliant lyrisism but dont feel it lol props though

  • Having a hard time deciding if I like Common Market more or Atmosphere. So glad I found good hip-hop cuz it led me to these guys and others

  • @oceanview1211 Have you checked out Grieves? Very similar style to Slug actually.

  • @waterbottle1001001

Yes I have. I have to be in a certain to listen to him. I do like Scar Gardens, Cloud Man, and Greedy Bitch quite a bit. (They're on the same lable. I recommend buying directly from Rhymesayers cuz they give you awesome stickers and it's good to support the underground)

  • @oceanview1211 ....in a certain *mood* to listen....

  • @oceanview1211 Right on man, yeah he's pretty deep. I have a copious amount of music (downloads........ I know i know) and not a lot of money at this point in my life, but when i start making money I am going to support the underground no doubt. It's 90% of the music I listen to. Rhymesayers it is, thanks dude. Slug helped found that label right?

  • @waterbottle1001001 check out Brother Ali too if you haven't already.

  • @oceanview1211 check blue scholars bro, haha though that may make your decision harder :P

  • 3 people live in very sunny places

  • How can ppl dislike diss, Their ear drums must be ruined from the pop shit they where fed

  • this is real Rap/Hip Hop. i wish lil wayne and all those other mainstream guys would stop calling themselves rappers because their not. music now a day doesnt make any sense. Really i dont care if you have sex or get drunk or get high no one cares. people who like that music never heard real Rap before. Hip Hop never died it still lives it just went underground

  • lets get it together people we need a set from these two in the chi. MUCH LOVE from chicago we rockin over here baby!

  • Is those vocals sampled from something else? (Ofcourse not Ra Scions, but the backing vocal)

  • Ra Scion, great MC. Sabzi, possibly the illest producer ever. Common Market, fucking golden son.

  • how can you dislike beauty?

  • løl_áñýóñé_wàÑÑâ_chàt_wíth_mÉ_i_fEël_sÓ_lónêlÿ_tOdâY╝

  • destroy mainstream

  • Really fuck coffee :P

  • Shakespeare would cry...

  • Common Market, Macklemore+ Ryan Lewis, and blue scholars have kept the western music culture alive ever since pac died, and I thank them for that.

  • I never heard of Seattle until I learned about real hip-hop. What else y'all hiding from us on the West Coast?

  • @LastStandforLiberty That's what the Trouble is.

  • Someday these guys are gonna make it big.

  • Dislakers all love Justin Bieber !!!

  • flow and beat reminds me a lot of CYNE

  • A few people were asking for a definition here. The general gist of this song is of a man who is contemplating suicide (and I think he's supposed to be an alcoholic as well). He details his struggles with the "evil" inside of him in the first and second stanzas, and then in the third he finally succumbs to his problems and commits suicide in the third; however, he is happy because the "penance" which he speaks of could only be attained by him dying, and he can see his beloved again.

  • Music for the soul

  • Common Market. A hipHop group that only real HipHop fans will ever know and appreciate dem!! Word!!

    Queens, NY

  • common market will do that.......they set a new standard for hip hop according to my ears.

  • i started listening this song at less than one week, and this turned into one of my favorites songs

  • Amazing !! this song has nothing to do with drugs and alcohol unlike mainstream

  • keep it real close but don't break it

  • northwest flow , rep the 206

  • northwest flow , rep the 206.

  • 206 all day, but i'm from the 312

  • would anybody like to analyze this as a poem for all of us to see? if you're a mac at poetry then break this down

  • on my riding mix!

  • buy this, support the northwest music

  • i wish they were on tooouur :/

  • Sabzi is a pure genius, a true virtuose

  • This is the first time i every hear this crew, this is great. Great sample, Isley brothers - What tould you do, for anyone that's wondering.

  • This stuff is real no doubt... just listen to the first lines its deep stuff this is poetry and thats what rap should be and what this song is. underground is so underated because the media now is messed up. im not one to hate but the new music sucks and it ddoesnt meen anything., they spend more time on the beat now adays than the lyrics and keeping it real. Seattle rap scene man.. i just with these groups like this would be heard insted of listen(tHUMBS UP IF U KNOW WHAT I MEEN)

  • @MuffinManPWNZ my personal quote is that "rap is the evil child of Hip Hop". people that dont know anything think that hip hop and rap are like best friends. the truth is that Hip Hop came before rap, and in a cultural and historical way, literally owns it. rap is about the fantasies of life, hip hop IS life. most people that think low of hip hop should substitute it with rap, because that what they really mean but dont know the difference.

  • @MuffinManPWNZ Dig ya ...

  • @MuffinManPWNZ No doubt man, but don't forget all the dope underground hip-hop that isn't out of Seattle. Everything I listen to these days is out of seattle or detroit, and I've been introduced to a ton of other dope hip-hop with deep messages and feeling behind it from towns that I've never even heard of. A lot of mainstream sucks, but the underground is alive and well all over the world

  • true that SEATTLE HIP HOP IS TRUE HIP HOP keep rollin on!!

  • Just found about Common Market 45 minutes ago. If there was ever a time they performed in New York I'm going to kick myself.

  • @jlemaire22 dont forget about blue scholars then, same producer, diff rapper, whos better IMO.both great artists from Seattle.

  • Thank God for the Seattle rap scene, you're helping us all around the world!

  • one of my favorite albums of all time.

    every single song is flawless.

  • Shout out to Seattle!

  • I have not been this excited about a artist in a while. Every Common Market song is played over and over again in my car, my computer, ipod, basically everywhere I go. The only other artists I've given this treatment is binary star and one be lo, mr lif, and the wu

  • " Down unable to prevail, Unassisted will the tempest hail another victim in cyclical rhythm?, Please , break It...Cause honestly the line "I Try Tirelessly" is cowardice, Powerless am I to fight this avarice " This shit is real, complex and a true stand up competitor for the definition of what hip hop is and what it's about. I WISH there was a station in any city or town that bumped this and artists like them. Check Canadian artist Kyprios of Sweatshop Union, thats how I heard this duo

  • Is there any doubt that the illest hip-hop is coming out of the Emerald City right now?

Ra Scion, Geo, Macklemore, Grynch, Fresh Espresso, Gabriel Teodros, Mash Hall...too dirty.

  • @scitzofrenik thank God someone noticed the ill artists in Seattle. True School forever

  • Common Market has the "it" factor. It's something that can't seem to be manufactured or produced, it's just natural to soem pepole (paraphrasing Vinnie Paz). So dope. By the way, does anybody know who's singing on in the background? It sounds like Marvin Gaye (Who I am a HUGE fan of) but I don't recognize the lyrics. Whoever it is, I love the part when he goes "Keep it real..."

  • @KrfNYC2 fuckin vinnie paz!

  • @sbc2k1 Yeah, he's nice, but I get tired of his negativity and vulgarity. I think that Vinnie has a mroe impressive lyrical catalogue, bu RA Scion is more positive and I like that. And, like I said, Sabzi has "it".

  • Damn, my family friend has a broken neck and he can still head nod to this..

  • Wow this one is good

  • Magnificent. Big up from Paris (France).

  • awesome song to shred to !!!!!!

  • @PlayaBill34 dude first thing i thought when i heard this.. check out cyne-first person-steady-maintain-running water....elzhi-thats the one..thomax- d.t.f.n.. and other thomax songs

  • @PlayaBill34 fuck yeah

  • Common Market needs more views. PEOPLE TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW. I was referenced to this song via Pandora Radio and I feel blessed. Lyrics, voices and flows of GODS.

  • Man, I listened to "Trouble Is" when the album first dropped and I wasn't really feelin it, so I slept on the whole thing. Heard this the other day and it made me stop everything I was doing!

Went ahead and bought Tobacco Road yesterday. It's a strong album, but Winter Takes All is tops.

  • can anyone tell me the meaning of this song? i understand that it is not exactly a positive song, there are some sad parts to it, but what is the story of the song about?

  • @sunxswimxsail His life in kansas. Tobacco was the main theme like tobacco farms . thats where he grew up so he raps about it.

  • @lyrik007kings Im pretty sure he grew up in Kentucky not Kansas...

  • @sunxswimxsail Really his life growing up to make it simple.

  • @sunxswimxsail I'm pretty sure that for the most part it's about his father's suicide.

  • This song hits me so hard. Tears of happiness, or tears of truth?

    Keep the truth flowin'!

  • rep the northwest! when my kids ask me what music we listened to, i hope this is the first song they hear...

  • whoop whoop for seattle!

  • Everything Sabzi produces is pure gold. That man can't do any wrong in hip hop. Not to mention RA Scion, one of the most intelligent MC's to date.

  • 360

  • kansas is a huge shit hole. that's what we're talking about on this thread right? opinions on random locations?

  • the 3 people that dont like this one must be EMO's daaaaaamn this is really sum good shit man one love to all the hip hop heads out there and ILikeM0ney for posting this .... this one made my day

  • I love seattle, there's jazz, metal, rap, and tons of awesome art. There isn't a very large financial district and the weather (yes even when it's rainy) is awesome.

    Seattle=Pure Awesome

  • I really wish Portland was more then just an Indie town.

  • when i clicked this song and heard this beat i had to cover my mouth i thought i was gonna fuckin throw up its so ill. this song is fuckin beserk

  • possibly the best hip-hop song i have ever heard

  • lets go skiing =)

  • Blue Scholars + Common market = <3

  • let it all be like this.

  • Can someone please explain to me what this song is about?

  • @exthreex3 Basically, no matter what, "Winter" comes. This means that sometimes forces in your life will work against you and make you lose faith in what you believe in, and that's just how it goes. The song is written almost like a prayer. As I see it, it is about finding the strength to make it through "winter", and not to succumb to fear or temptation from whatever path you're on.

  • @exthreex3 Just to elaborate on Shokk's response, I believe this song is about the suicide of RA's father.

  • wuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttttttttttt! :)

  • wuuuuuuuuuuuuuhuuuuuuuuhuuuuu =)

  • real hip hop right here

  • is that sabzi?

  • Dang Ra you killed it man, and Sabzi doing his thang with the beats, this is the shit that should be on the radio am i right?

  • Dope Vibes Shouts from VA

  • this is musik of the hiphop era.... north west is my shit .......... i live an hour from monroe........ leavenworth keep it real
