i didnt like the stoppage the ref did to yvel....they dont do that type of stoppage when its middle weights or lower...theres gotta be a 5 second window of oppertunity if in a bad situation to get to a good situation...cause yvel was fine right after the ref called it...and i feel herb new he fucked up abit to....to bad

I would have liked to see two more seconds, maybe five. I do not think it changed the eventual outcome. I watched it again & for a split second Yvel did look like he gave up but then he rolled. I am looking forward to seeing Yvel fight again.

It's not about that, it's about the fact that after Yvel got rocked he tried getting up to his feet right, and if trying to stand up while your opponent is pounding on you isn't "trying to intelligently defend himself", i dont know what a fighter should do then.

yvel is a very powerful fighter won 31 fights by KO, he's a tough force to be reckoned with for santos. I'm all for santos as well but i'm severely worried about this fight, yvel is gonna be his toughest challenge yet (even more so than cro cop)

yvel is and always has been a very dangerous thai striker. if dos santos strips off his bjj credentials and tries to play tough guy it could easily be a short night. and although in the cro cop fight i had him winning every round up until the stoppage he wasn't really ultra impressive. you count yvel out in because of his record he is a viscious striker. i smell an upset

I would say the odds are more 50/50. Every fight starts on the feet and Yvel can KO anyone if he gets a hold of them.

Yvel is a formidable opponent for anyone, as you'd know if you'd seen him fight. If I had to bet on this fight, I'd choose Yvel to win.

I don't know about that. Still if that should be the case I don't think it will be such an easy win for Junior even IF he takes it to the ground. Did you even see Yvel vs Barnett? Having a dude like Barnett mounted you is one thing, surviving it for that long is in my opinion very impressive. I'll be suprised if Dos Santos can even get to that position. But then again, I'll be evne more suprised if this fight goes to the ground at all.

Yeah, I saw the fight between Yvel & Barnett. I was surprised Barnett could not finish him faster. He is definitely a tough guy. Josh is way bigger than Junior too. It is going to be interesting.

I think everyone is really underestimating Gilbert Yvel. Sure he has lost a few fights, but the reason for that was : GROUND. This fight won't go to the ground, either because no fighter wants it to go there or because Junior can't take it there. And for one, Dos Santos is NOT equal to Yvel on the feet. Sure Dos Santos is impressive, but he can not equal Yvel on the feet no way.

gilbert yvel is tough as hell, watch the barnett fight when he was taking a beating after being mounted and still fighting back, but then again JDS is the best up-in-coming HW right now, he would walk through most guys in that division and i can see him hanging with fedor. im calling it right now JDS is a beast.

I have seen Yvel on Dana's video blog & he seems like he has a good attitude. He might be more competition than I earlier thought. Have you seen Junior left ear? It is plum nasty. You can tell he has been practicing BJJ. He plans on taking this to the ground by the looks of that ear.

Junior Dos Santos says he's ready for a title shot if he beats Gilbert Yvel. But I think Lesnar would destroy him. Junior dos santos has no chance. Only person that has a chance is probably Shane Carwin. I hope Lesnar gets better. He's been very ill..

I see that yvel will lose if junior can get the takedowns or outstrikes gilbert.that name is to funny. Also if gilbert bothers to turn up in shape he has a habit of being out of shape,he was killing barnet who is top ten material until he predicatbly was taken down,I want gilbert to ko dos and get the upset but my heart says otherwise, I want santos to fight better opposition,we know crocop was washed up.and he was lucky to stop werdum,in a rematch he wouldnt do it again.

yvel has the advantage on the feet, he has better boxing but yvel is the more technical striker and actually uses kicks, dos santos keeps his hands too low for comfort and the prime CC wouldve kicked his head off, my advice to junior is to take it down, but i think he has too much pride to do that, he would win with gnp or a sub if he took it down but i just see a standup war that favors yvel, one thing dos santos has a lot more of is ufc experience tho so theres a few intangibles

There's really no excuse for what he did, but in Yvel's defense, that ref did restart the fight like 86 times in less than a minute and I couldn't tell what he was thinking.

NO, the referee was the other fighters manager, this is well known..at least on the forums, and he was bias toward his fighter and Yvel did the right thing.

It will be a good match. Gilbert isn't the best character, but he is a good fighter. Most of his losses were due to his lack of ground game. Dos Santos will stand up with Gilbert & that's what Gilber wants. Chances of Dos Santos is good, but Gilbert can still knock him out if Dos Santos doesn't be careful. Styles make fight.

However, Mir is looking pretty good & may give Junior a hard time on the ground that is if Mir can take him there. Brock could give Junior a hard time too. Junior is not going to have an easy road to that belt but again I am looking forward to watching it.
