I first saw Radiohead in 199?, and have always been a fan of their work, and will still go back and listen to the The Bends and Pablo Honey. Good music is timeless. Radiohead remain consistent in evolving their music and not sticking to tried and tested formulas.
The best F#KIN two guitar strokes I have ever heard live in my life when JONNY is about to play the chorus!!! F"KIN AMAZING!!! BEAUTIFUL!!! still don't know how he does it.
Radiohead the band that is famous for their campaign against corporate sellouts just did a Grammy T.V. spot for music biggest monopoly network: CBS.
I wonder why?
May be couse they are nominated for Best Album of the Year?
I bet you that the "uncorporated" Thom Yorke it's going to dress up to attend the biggest corporated event of the year, so hipocrital. What happened to the "alterntative" 90's?
I saw both. Radiohead in 2004 and Prince in 2008. Both were awesome. But YES Thom was sick and Cancelled the last date of their Australian tour just days before... and threatened to Cancel Coachella too. It was a dedication to the Pixies (racheljean). And this version is EXTRA amazing because they hadn't played it IN YEARS. Thom grew to hate it. And listen to Johnny's guitar when the chorus comes in... F*in AMAZING!!!!
i was there. wasn't it dedicated to the pixies, not requested by them. they played right before radiohead - thom talked about how much of an inspiration they were for him during the pablo honey days and dedicated this to them.
Some of you who are critical of this performance have forgotten that Radiohead's appearance at '04 Coachella was almost canceled the week of due to the fact Thom's voice was gone - he couldn't sing. They came on anyway, and this is what you got.
@zackieboy Yeah I remember driving all the way out to Indio from NorCal and hearing that they may not play was killing me especially after hearing that Wilco had already cancelled due to Jeff Tweedy's painkiller problem.
It's boring, played out 90's popular music. They're so far ahead of that now... it's been what... 10-15 years? OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, In Rainbows... all excellent albums. Not that their old stuff is bad, but there are still people who refuse to get passed the old albums.
It is. But you can't deny that if you went to see them and they played it you would loose your shit. I just saw both Hollywood Bowl shows this past weekend and had they played it, no matter how not into thom could be, It would have been special. That being said neither show at the Hollywood Bowl needed Creep in the set list. Monday was fucking stellar. Being in the audience (about ten yards away) the first time they played "Tell my why" is memorable itself.
Knut, I must admit that my shit would be completely contained within my bowels. I would tilt my head back lazily and mumble to myself, "Why are they playing this?"
I find it ironic that people act like this is so different from post OK Computer Radiohead. Arrangement wise, sure... but from a melodic standpoint all the very typical Radiohead tricks are there. The vocal melody, the shifting between the major and minor of the same chord, the drama from shifting dynamics. Sure, the lyrics are more juvenile, but the basic seed is there.
