I personally cant believe that bonzo was a human being, for real, he is still the best, this song is incredible in the album itslef. Live? you be the judge
My favourite bit out of the whole performance is at 2:54. Its so cool how Robert and Paige come back out to the crowd together and it shows how Bonzo controlled where the song went. Bonzo was the glue of Led Zeppelin no other drummer could do that. RIP BONZO AND HAIL LED ZEPPELIN THE GREATEST BAND OF ALL TIME.

A thread that talks about lead bass and not a word about John Entwistle? Predates Zep, Rush, Queen, or Black Sabbath. The Who were basically an intertwining of lead vocals, lead drums, and lead bass with townshend timekeeping on rythm guitar for many, many songs. Practically invented lead bass as not a novelty but full time. I'm sure lead bass pre-dates even entwistle, but the man perfected it.

This is by far my favorite song of all time. Its short sweet and to the point "We're Gonna Grove" the title says it all. and it also contains my favorite lyric of all time;
Yeah,I'm fucking riveted watching Bonzo and Page in this video. Pure vodoo...absolutely amazing. As popular as alot of bands are(including all the greats),few had the sheer talent and alchemy of Led Zeppelin.
I searched specifically for this video and couldn't find it. Now I realize because the video's called We're Gonna Grove. One little typo can fuck a guy up.
@Martiluk1 What do you and your mates think of the legendary John Deacon from Queen, another great bassist from another great band ( esp live 70s) check out if you havent already ogre battle and liar live hammersmith. Liar live probably one of the first band bass solos ever, back when bass was considerd just a background instrument. John Deacon was one of the first that brought the bass from the shadows to the spotlight and made it a lead instrument.
Thanx to all who participated in this discussion! I'm much more aware now, and that just makes Zeppelin's performances (in the late 60's through to like 74 or 75, because they're my personal favs) all the more incredible!
@kennykins420 well yea, at the moment, before I researched some things! But not J.P.J right? I mean from books I've read he didn't partake in many "things" the group did did he? Plus you misspelled definetly. Not to be a douche or anything.
@blloop Not to be a douche or anything....but you incorrectly spelled "definitely". If you are going to be the grammar police for YouTube comment forums, your own posts might be an excellent place to start.
@keithwarf yea thats why after 75 they turned into poop. before 75 he wasent doin herion though. in this video I can imagine some whiskey and a couple of joints. then he moved onto coke around 73 and then herion.
Maw Kashmir0109 I know for a fact that Jimmy never did drugs. Not too sure about the others though, although I highly doubt that *may he rest in peace* Bonzo put the bottle down to pick up a joint. And Jonesy was a family man and didn't partake in much. But Plant, Shit, you can only imagine. Best fucking band. Period.
Without a doubt the four best musicians to ever stand on a stage together. At this point in their career they were just overwhelming. Just listen to Plant's voice or Bonzo killing the drums Jimmy shuffling and just tearing it up, and Jonesy holding it all together. Perfect, thanks for posting.
@brebat I agree completely. I consider this to be golden era Led Zeppelin. A lot of good stuff came out after this. But this, in my opinion, is the best they ever got. Without Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Stairway, or Kashmir, they were still the best band of their day. However, live, The Who seamed to have been better. Or at least I like them better.
man, i just LOVE to go home after school and play drums to stuff like this! ITS SO FUN im just beatin the crap out of my drum kit. its feels so good! :D
dude i love to do the same thing just with guitar and turning it at full volume and feeling the floor of my room shake because of the base when i hit the low E string!!
LoL! 0:22 Bonzo the first time he played the drums live in Royal Albert Hall, he accidentally flipped a stick away! Love that! Not everyone is perfect! But still it's Bonzo, the greatest!
It's not clear in this video, but on the DVD, hell yeah!
I always loved that fact that Zeppelin didn't have an overblown intro for their concerts. All they had to do is walk on stage and the crowd would get excited.
