@ProPorchMonkey In my experience, first time pantera listeners seem to enjoy songs from vulgar display of power the most. eg Walk, this love, by demons be driven.. Then there's Cowboys from hell and Cemetery gates from the CFH album. When far beyond driven came out, the first three songs that stood out to me were becoming, 5 minutes alone and I'm broken.. Give the ones I mentioned a listen and I guarantee you will be hooked in no time. Peace.

If it wasn't for Pantera, metal would've completely died off in the 90's. I mean, sure you still had bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Anthrax around but they were softening up their music, whereas Pantera was able to keep it heavy and brutal all the way throughout the 90's, even as the whole grunge and alternative rock scene were taking over.
