  • the 70s got so many things wrong... but not this

  • Love the announcer's voice. If you like this, you might also check out "Thank God it's Friday."

  • Watched it this morning at 3am on TCM.

  • found it on netflix instant play...awesome!

  • Ya Gotta Digg It Man ......Right On!!!

  • One of the lamest movies I've ever seen...

  • Linda Blair is so damn hot.

  • 3 inches of blood sent me here haha :\

  • whaha noobs @ disco

  • This movie, in some ways, reminds me of "Xanadu"...

  • exelente video me encanta y linda blair is beautiful

  • Oh shit Linda Blair was too fucking hot in this with that long curly hair. DAMN baby ass too.

  • Roller Boogie is being shown Friday, January 14, 2011 at 11:00pm PT on KTLA channel 5.3 in Los Angeles. For more info go to ThisTV (com).

    Roller Boogie

Original Release Date: Dec 19, 1979

Love is born to boogie in this electrifying romantic adventure about a Beverly Hills teen (Linda Blair) who falls head over wheels for a boy from the wrong side of the roller rink! It's the ultimate fast-paced, freewheeing '70s roller romp!

  • Most of what is considered 'Bad Ass' by today's teenagers will look even crappier than this by 2040

  • @TomthatiscalledTom I know, they haven't got a clue. we are the lucky ones, lucky enough to know what it felt like to live in an organic world not ruled by hyper advertising and wanky trends.

  • wow!

  • 'saturday night fever'-sploitation

  • Oh god! Did I really have a crush on Bobby as a kid?! What was I thinking?! Haha!

  • This captures a truly unique period in our history. Where else could you find roller skates with disco music to combine with everyday fun. Great movie. Something that will possibly never be repeated. Tragic that it has gone away. I only wish there could be some commentary with this movie and have it on blu ray also. Although the regular dvd you can purchase on Amazon needs improvement, It is worth buying to support this really amazing and fun film to watch. It captures a lost time so perfectly.

  • LB almost too attractive at that time. Hard to take that in - and still watch her movies.

  • Damn the skimpy shorts . not everybody have the body type for those . I am so glad I was grown at the time.

  • linda blair is so awesome..............

  • underrated

  • I wish somebody would upload this whole movie!!!!!!

  • Lovely memories...

  • Doesn't get much better than this. Oh how I love that cheese!!

  • This was just on cinemax of the movie channel or some such shit, and, I'll say this, the title of this movie is fuckin APT! The first fifteen some odd minutes is nothing but pure...uncut...Roller Boogie-ing. I almost went into a diabetic coma.

  • way better than 'skate town' (though it was funny seeing patrick swayze), Bob Esty had a very busy year producing the soundtrack, Cher, Streisand and others

  • This movie is so bad it's great. Linda Blair however never looked hotter. MMMM!

  • Can anyone answer why this was the only film the lead actor Jim Bray ever starred in? I know he was a professional skater but you'd think, with the movies success, he would get another roll. I remember the chicks were gaga over the guy.

  • Oh, yeah, I remember this world! Good Times, but then I'm a Geezer now and I can enjoy those memories-even Disco.

Back then, if you didn't (roller) skate you were a Zero. And the Roller Rink was where the Ladies were at.....

  • 0:51 FTW

  • Linda Blair was Vag on wheels!

  • Those truly were great days and times!

  • i just that movie!! better then skatetown usa.

  • I cant believe I lived through this era.

  • at around 1:15 they zoom in on some guy's boner stub and the guitar does a dive with the bar

  • Remeber is live..Recordar es volver al vivir...

  • Yes, this movie does bring %100 sheer fucking perfection in the cheese department...especially the opening sequence with Cher singing. Not to mention those male shorts we're nothing short (no pun intended) of classic 1979!!

  • me gustaria ver el video de cher patines sobre ruedas gracias por decirme donde lo ubico

  • Holy crap that is Cher singing...ahaha

  • They have this movie on DVD. You can get it on Amazon. Don't know where else you can get this old school movie.

  • Thats so funny Jim Bray was my boss a couple of months ago for about 7 months. Never thought he'd be a big roller skating guy or even come out in a movie with linda blair. I have to email him now to ask him if he ever won a skate competition in tight pants with Dancing Queen playing in the back lol

  • I love your writing style -- and passion for disco roller skating movies! Just watches Xanadu tonight -- ah, how I wished I lived in Los Angeles in 1980...can you imagine what the casting call was like?

  • I use to watch this and go up to Plaza Roller rink in Virginia Beach, Va. a cruise until i we had to leave, man i miss the late 70's and early 80's.

  • Unbelievable.

  • see the wheels those are skates not that in line crap could do a lot more moves on old skates than inline dam i feel old

  • Menudo bodrio,ni se os ocurra verla.

  • I saw this IN the theatre all those years ago.

  • How did the audience respond to it?

  • It's been 30 yrs..from what I can remember they loved it.

  • holy shit! fuckin hilarious!

  • 0:50 - 0:54 LOL

  • I watched this last night! It was prettyyy~ epic.

  • @foxyalex1 me too. I saw it on antenna tv.

  • Awesome.

  • Wow, this is so awful, I mean, awesome... I'm gonna have to find this on DVD somewhere, if it even exists on DVD. Lovin' Cher singing that song... kinda.

  • I Love Linda Blair! This wonderful MOVIE is as trash as camp! Kind of the never seen sequel of the exorcist part 3. the devil goes disco! gimme some coke! LOVE IT!

  • I was out with Linda Last Night! She was so Pretty and Sweet!

  • in san fran?

  • 1979

  • when the hell was this movie made because i've only seen linda blair in the exorcist and born innocent and then exorcist 2 the heretic

  • Great movie! So colorful, I thought I was in a coloring book! Hilarious, too - some intentional, some not. Great stuff!

  • hey grubby

  • grubby!!

  • Its fucking grubby lmfao

  • it's GRUBBY!!!!!!!!

  • HE'S EVEN BETTER ON WHEELS!

  • I can not believe I am just now finding this one. This movie is a lot of fun and just a good time to enjoy. I saw Roller Boogie at a drive-in back in the day and people were roller skating between the cars during the movie. It was like one big party. I've never forgotten that. Oh man, we had fun in the 70's.

  • I used to love going to the rollar rink. The rink had every type of character to groovy people to tough guys, plus it had video games like tempest and galaga and great 80's music.

  • Oh, they don't make 'em like this any more...

  • look at 0:50 and 0:51...the gal skating in red looks like cher!

  • is that cher skating? is she singing the title tune? (hell on wheels: let's roll)

  • I remember telling someone "my sister's friend's brother knows Jim Bray" back when this movie came out - as if that somehow made me cool! We all piled in our van that had head to toe orange shag carpeting and saw this turkey. And bought new yellow skate covers the next day. For Jim.....

  • This movie is one of the reasons I wanted to move out to California. of course, I was only 10 years old. But this and American Bandstand made living in NYC so dreary - so much sun, so little responsibility, and disco skating. What more could a ten year old want? Sigh.

  • You did have to be there! I was a senior in high school when this movie came out and I wanted to be "Bobby James" girlfriend! What a fun movie! I still love it now!

  • such a fun era in music!! you had to be there to understand...

  • Pre-Reagan!

  • fino por el video.

  • God! I loved this movie when I was a little girl.

  • yes the music was great then. ANd the clothes were great too!

The ugly look of militarized republican in the last 8 years is tacky as all hell.

We were having fun back then.

  • two words:

    nice shorts

  • i've got a pair too!!

  • Both Linda Blair and Tracy Gold looked so much alike. Same face. Same built. You could have sworn they were actually sisters in real life.

  • True, but they were something like 10 years apart. Too bad Tracy went Cukoo with not eating, so sad and dumb that they sent Carol Seaver to England to explain her absence! Her last year could of been smart and sexy.

  • I LOVE this movie lol

  • Is Skatetown USA is also going to be shown on TMC by any chance?

  • Roller Boogie (979)..will be shown on Turner Classic Movies on:

    On Saturday, June 21st, 2008 @

    12:45am Arizona (PT) time!

  • A classic in bad cinema! I feel sorry for the performers who were roller skating experts only to have the fad die! I can't help but think that when I see this film. This movie is terrible, but hysterical because of it.

  • The fad of roller skating didn't die in 1979. It went on until 1982 or early 1983. It was even big in the 80s until the musical styles changed.

  • This movie sucked.

  • Also check out "Voggue - Roller Boogie"

  • Oh my god, I can't believe that when I was 17 I paid to see this movie

  • Drivin my Camaro--- 8 track on t tops out--

Reefer tokin-- yep___Clogs on __Butt hugging Sasson Jeans Tight---

  • "Sheer fucking perfection." Yes, that describes this movie perfectly. It's so bad, it's the most awesome thing you could ever see.

  • regardless a classic. one of the first movies i got to see and it sticks with me still. am i showing up time by saying that i also have a beta copy as well as vhs! just love it .......

  • I remember going to see this movie at the

    Drive-In.Back In 1979.

I thought it was GROOVY then.

I've saw it several times since then.

Including at a recent 70s gathering with a few

    Old friends.

I still found it was Groovy.....

  • Clogs on Butt hugging Sasson Jeans Tight---

    Lip Gloss shinin....Bongs out!!

  • Short shorts for guys were very popular from the late 70s all the way to the mid-80s.

  • ah, the days when guys shorts were just that, short, today, the shorts the guys wear look like "gauchos" that the girls used to wear in the 70s

  • Clogs on Butt hugging Sasson Jeans Tight---

    Lip Gloss shinin....Bongs out!!

    Gawd an Leggs pantyhose-- WTF<<<<damn

    Doobies firing up--in a Vega

  • Health care is down the drain right now.

  • Laugh it up... But in the 70's and 80's no gangs, gasoline $1.25, and good health care.

Love to skate... The good old days... long gone~

  • Jesus, this is what people looked like in the 70's! LOL

  • Jesus, this is what people looked like in the 70's! LOL

  • Ha, this is a favorite. I just made a big Amazon order, and this and antoehr Linda Blair b-movie I included. Also look for the extremely lovely and under-used Kimberly Beck (Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Massacre at Central High) also has a minor role.

Very good eariyl '80s, nostalgic feel-good fluff. :D I love the earily '80s b-movies Linda made over the Exorcist memories myself ...

  • this is the best film EVER !!

    i love it

  • I remember seeing this in the theater, now seeing Skatetown, U.S.A finally on VHS rental, this and Skatetown, U.S.A became my instant favorites. To respond to the person who said about Roller Boogie's 80s style creeping, well if you look at Skatetown, U.S.A, you could also see Scott Baio's clothing being very un-70s. While you still had that late 70s feel, you could tell the changes in most of the people's clothing being different and another thing is that some hairstyles were changing.

  • ...saw it was great, it made me buy my first roller skates.

  • I saw this movie in the theater with my 3 older sisters. They all had to have roller skates after seeing this movie.

  • Both Roller Boogie and Skatetown, U.S.A have that late 70s-early 80s look. It was really the dawning of the decade and the coming of 1980 when disco would eventually morph into dance music. Both Roller Boogie and Skatetown, U.S.A both have that look as well.

  • LOVE this movie!!!

  • THAT WAS CHER SINGING THAT THEME SONG!

  • This film was released December 21, 1979...You can kind of see the 80's influence coming in here.

  • LOL! You love my movies! :)

  • truth!

  • HOLY CRAP! Where the heck did you find this???

Would you believe I bought the soundtrack? LOL!

  • actually, based on the movies you've posted to your youtube channel, i would. ; )

  • O I need to see this movie....

  • I saw this movie when I was 10 years old. Then I saw "Skatetown USA". This one's better.

    God I miss the 70's!!!!

  • I can't believe Jim Bray din't become the next John Travolta, he was the greatest.

I remember showing up at the cinema 9 hours early to get a good place in line to the big opening to Roller Boogie, we listened to disco all night long, then there was a mad rush when the ticket window opened, we filled up on greasy, over priced popcorn and watered down soft drinks while we watched in amazement at the skillful, cat like moves by big Jim, I'll never forget that night.

  • They should have filmed the exorcist on roller skates, with the bright colorful clothes, and the disco balls and the green puke.

  • LOL!! OMG that's so funny!

  • cool...Cher Hell over Wheels(ToTo produced)

  • I love roller boogie! used to watch it as a kid all the time. Any ideas where I can get a version that will play in Australian DVD players? I want to buy the movie!

  • i don't know that there is one. i HATE it when studios control the copyrights for movies and then don't make them available for the entire world market for whatever bullshit reason.

don't mean to endorse piracy, but if i were you i would look to the internet for a torrent to download. i'm sure there must be one out there.

  • Hey, send me a message. I might know where you can find it. ;)

  • geek squad of the 80's?

  • She's a beatiful and talented person!

    God Bless You Dear Linda!

  • I'll never know why "Commando" wasn't advertised with the tagline "From the director of ROLLER BOOGIE!"

  • i rate this comment five stars.

  • I think that's Cher singing the song!!! OMG!

  • I'd like to suck him dry

  • BEST COMMENT EVER!!!!!

  • A Movie Dearest blog featured video. See my profile for the link and playlists!

  • i'll check it out. any friend of ROLLER BOOGIE is a friend of mine. welcome!

  • Just finished watching the dvd of it - damn, I love cheesy feel-good movies!

  • I used to LOVE this movie.- Linda Blair was so hot in it.

  • aside from the fact that it's a fucking cheese classic, ROLLER BOOGIE holds a special significance for me. i ended up living for awhile in venice beach a couple of years after RB was filmed there. i was staying only three or four blocks from the boardwalk (the area where most of the exterior scenes were shot) so it was like living right inside the movie in a way. sadly, however, i never got the chance to disco with linda blair.

  • Okay, but do you remember when she was Rick Springfield's girlfriend? Remember how suicidal he got when she broke up with him???

That had to be the strangest pairing of the 70s.

  • wow, actually i forgot about that. she was only fifteen!

  • I can remember when those "Heaven" shirts were all the rage. Oh how times have changed. hehe.

  • What about the Danskin tights with the long, belted shirts??? :)

  • yeah and besides, none of those other roller disco movies have a theme song sung by cher now do they?

  • You've got that right. I can't get enough of it!

  • It's love on wheels and soooo full of cheese. I love it!!

  • A great Flick!

    Better than "Skatetown USA".

The only film that comes close is

    "Xanadu"with Olivia Newton John and

in his last film performance:Gene Kelly.

  • Certainly better than "Rad", too. What a stinker! :)

  • i wanna put on my mama, mama, mama boogie skates!

  • "no rinks in beverly hills, man, just minks!"

  • Easily one of the best films of 1979.

Thanks for posting..one of my all-time favorites.

  • keep the change, bobby james.

  • DEADENDDRIVEIN THANKS PUT MORE

  • you mean, put more up of this movie? i'm really sorry but you'll have to buy it from somebody. i really only want to post trailers, unless they either don't exist for a particular movie or i can't locate one. that's just the way i roll.
