Wow (chills down spine). This is definitely the way to watch movies. Cinerama features would look properly displayed on this. Congratulations on this magnificent achievement!
Nice! Curved screens usually require some software to reshape the picture from a Blu-ray or DVD, in order to give it a "smilebox" shape. Without it, the picture will look distorted on a curved screen.
@kresh43 This video is quite old. I've since gone through 5 or so total revisions of the screen. No idea what FOV it used back then as that screen is no longer in assembled form. My current screen is a popup frame. Also since this video was done I now use bicubic pre-warping and edge blending (which wasn't in this video).
About how much space does this take up? I have a small living room but currently can barely fit a 100" flat projector screen at the minimum throw distance for my epson. I'm wondering if it would be possible for me to achieve this.
@sams64sf The problem with Epsons are the lens throw. You need a projector with a lens throw of 0.49:1 to 0.7:1 to achieve that large of a projection. Short throws are typically in the $500-800 price range and are 1280x800 @ 120 hz 720p 3D capable. Check out BenQ, Optoma and Viewsonic for short throws that allow that big of a projection in a short distance.
@360kal The only way to do triple projection in stereographic 3D is to use three NVIDIA certified projectors and 3D Vision Surround. I purchased my projectors before 3D Ready spec hit the market, so my projectors aren't 120hz capable -- which is one of the key requirements for stereograpgic 3D projection using 3DVS.
@Anima87 I use regular projectors. In order to get full coverage of the screen I have to use three projectors side-by-side though and align and edge blend them together with NTHUSIM. I can watch video and play any games that handle regular Eyefinity resoltuons though with the setup.
@Geornsk I really want to redo the existing game videos I have once I work out the setup that works good for low light video capture. My current cameras are driving me nuts with quality issues capturing low light. I also want to sound deaden the room with black carpeting to kill that evil cement floor and wall echo with the 5.1 sound system.
would 3d look proper on this seeing as it was designed to be on a flat screen?

@counterbond 3D works just fine for me even on 180 degree gaming.

You need to depress the impression lines on that curve

Will this work with Blu ray?
byrondealz 9 months ago
@byrondealz Yes, PowerDVD should work fine with NTHUSIM. We used a version of PowerDVD in the AMD meeting area at CES 2011 with dual projector.

@BHawthorne72 Hi dude, nice setup - can you use a circular screen with a regular projector?
