  • other software is*

  • can anyone tell me what the other is software? maya, shake, after effects, photoshop, and?....

  • been trying to figure that out myself..hmm

  • it's NUKE by the foundary.

  • colloredbrothers and bluesuits - Maybe both of you shold stop arguing, this is student material!

BTW, I'm a 'Lighting Animator' on a 3D project for Disney - so what do I know? :o)

  • right on

  • nice presentation! but maybe a tweek here and there could possibly make this reel better. but after all is nice....just little too short

  • for a 45k per year school its not flawless enough. Need ssome polishing and then your on your way, just do a version 2 with a better car. Download one if you have to.

  • It may look better if the car was grey or black. Yellow makes it too easy to spot reflection/light flaws.

Also you should work on the break animation. Very unrealistic forces are going on there.

  • For me, this looks substandard for a high end film school, the compositing was done superbly, but the 3D car ruined it.

I think maybe you should have just focused on either 3d OR compositing, and make one real awesome piece instead of something that's ok in both.

but best of luck in future projects, perhaps spend a bit more time outside of study to perfect the 3d car and re-submit it. :)

  • The car is a Yugo lol

  • Isn't that car from the Nick and Norah's movie?

  • you guys are real assholes . . .

None of you even compete with this, and how could this even look real? its a car thats smaller then a chair . . . dont bitch about petty things

he did a good job with flow

    well done

  • For VFS, very disappointing. & very short too. Liked the credits though.

  • weak... how many dozen people did it take to make this? show me some real creativity.. not the fact that you know how to composite. i don't need to go to VFS or any school to do something like this

  • very good credit and text design

  • for such a high profile school, that was disappointing.

  • I'm sorry but if this is all you got that a sorry composting demo reel. Good luck getting a job.

  • NOOB

  • cool

  • its nice i likes it ::)

  • the credits were the best part

  • amazing =D don't just love the main bit, love the presentation, the music, the quick sharp credits, and the breakdowns

  • cool! :) The slip looks a bit fake

  • looks really fake to me, its a pitty the rest was awsome.

  • Well no duh its fake. Its 3D Compositing.

  • so? it could look more real

  • Are you serious?

This is like saying Video games should look more real, It will never get to the point were you wont be able to tell if its real or not.

  • ofcourse video games should look more real and thats why we have game developers trying to make it realler and realler.

your just so stupid dude, you think that all cgi today is obviously fake but thats not true, real high end cgi is mind bogling

  • why do we play games? To get away from the real world! Would it be fun if you crashed a car in a game then you died and the game didnt work anymore? Too realistic is not good! :(

  • I could write a big response to this comment but to put it simply,

These are students. This is there Demo reel pretty much. Showing what they are capeable of.

This wasnt made to show how "Ohhhh" and "ahhh" they can make there projects.

All Im saying is that the Designers will NEVER, be able to create something so life like that people would not be able to tell the difference one way or another. Its just not possible.

  • You just havn't seen enough cgi then, this was fake to me and iv seen cgi that was sublime and real close to reality. Making a decent cgi does not need to be the most realistic thing youv seen it just needs to be smooth and it needs to resemble reality in the best way possible.

This wasn't that good of a cgi sorry m8

  • Okay.

Do video games count as CGI?? Id say yes.

So before you say "lolol it dunt count as cgi"

I have seen, played, and even made games. Telling me I havent seen enough CGI is total bullshit. I am not saying this CGI in the video is real, bad, good, or fake. But you also probably havent taken into consideration yet that this is their DEMO reel, again DEMO ree.

Do you even know what a demo reel is? On the same topic, do you know what a DEMO tape is? DEMO CD? I think you get my point.

  • Our discussion was about what modern day cgi can do and you claimed that realistic cgi didn't exist now your trying to spin this thing around.

lets not talk anymore yes I know the guy is a student but I simply pointed out that it was realistic.

    both happy, peace m8

  • It's highly possible, bluesuits.
