this sample can be heard on Sick Jacken Stray bullets lp. Paid Dues track right at the end of the song .. it's where i first heard this classic soul hit.
This song is absolutely amazing. I am always very impressed with the music of the 60's. I totally wish that I had grown up in this era. Her voice is absolutely stunning, and I have had this song on repeat for the past two weeks. Are there any more songs that someone can suggest to me?
I bought an album with this record on iTunes. My wife my kids and myself absolutely LOVE this song. Some serious powerful music! Lynn Williams is amazing!
Lynn, I Hope you read this. I was a Dee jay in the Early 70's in Jacksonville,Fla when U released this Recording..It was #1 for more that 2 Weeks on our Station Good to hear it again ...Charles "Dee"(WERD)
That's great! I don't worry about mine. Like i said, i recorded it off of here, along with some of my other recordings on you tube.(lol) God bless you my friend.
Im a 70s baby people born after that got cheated on real music this lady sang with my dad King Sporty and she was the Bomb we need to teach our kid bout real music peace Shambo
The change from major to minor key makes this song so beautiful, a little sad, but beautiful. It's the kind of song that could highlight the love scene, or the credits at the end of a good movie.
What a voice, WOWW, this lady is absolutely great!! The world is being cheated, this lady should be on the TOP TEN and shared with the world, not just with the lucky ones who find her on Youtube!!
thanks, Ms. Williams, for the song titles and i can't wait to hear those other songs,i just know i'd love them as much as this one! i'm going to find those records! stay tuned and take care! :-)
you know Jurassic 5 sampled this tune on their track called "thin line"... its a very nice tune! Please keep putting up these nuggets.. im really loving your style of tunes Soln4suhreborn!! Your doing good stuff here!
really? on which album? i like jurassic 5's music. i have the ep,"creative control",and "power in numbers",which album did they do it on,i gotta re-evaluate! lol
Dear Lynn, What a great song. you have a marvelous voice. It's a shame the song did not get enough air play to turn it into the hit it should have been. Thank you, soln4suhreborn, for sharing this beautiful song.
that song has "hit" written all over it! i strongly agree,Ms. Williams has a beautiful voice. the killing part of it is she was only a teen when she cut this tune but you couldn't tell...UNBELIEVEABLE!!
P.S soln4suhreborn continued) My son raps, write, arrange, produces, and got some awesome beats. He has a little small recording studio in his apt. he uses. I'm on a couple of his recordings. The people he's dealing with in ATL heard some beats and are in the process of buying some, but he wants to get out there also. He's just an amazing 34 yr. old talented young man that needs to be out there.
that's my production style also,hip-hop. i've always been into records but even more so since i've been producing, that's how i run across so much great music, what we call "crate digging" for rare classic music. i've been making beats ,engineering my own recordings, and producing my own stable of artists since 1994. just like your son,i'm trying to get my name out there also, but sometimes it's hectic! tell him i said i'm in the trenches too and keep working hard, the world needs great music!
Hi soln4suhreborn. I'm on a recording(local) done several years ago doing a duet with my pastor.Other than that, nothing. No producer..There's nothing to offer in this small town i live in...My oldest child(son), he travels back&forth to ATL doing some things with some big people he got in with(hip-hop though). He's got his foot in the door, something just need to happen, he's too talented for it to go to waste. I'd love to sing again, and i'd really prefer gospel, but i am capable of it all.
i'm origianlly from chicago, but now live in mississippi and it's the same way here, not much of a recording center here now (malaco records are doing a little something). my artists and i travel to st. louis, chicago, and indianapolis where they have a nice sized "traditional" hip-hop scene to gain exposure. it takes a while, but all you need is that ONE SONG to hit,and you're off from there! i wish him all the best, the music game is so shady. tell him not to give up and stay hungry for it!
the world needs the "pioneers" of music to come back and show these young kids what real music is. rather you had a million seller hit,or a rare single, you are still a pioneer! i'd love to hear you sing now,no matter the style of music. i say "go for it,get back out there!"
to the person that found this song and put it on you tube, I am LYNN WILLIAMS. I want to thank you. I have none of the recordings i did when i was young, because they were stolen. I use to live in Miami, Fla. I now reside in a small town in Ga called Americus. My mother was a Big D.J in Miami back in the late 60's-70's, Vanilla Williams of WMBM radio station(Ms.WOOMBOOM). My father was the late and great Hank Ballard of Hank Ballard and the Midnighters. You will also find him on YOU TUBE.
MS. WILLIAMS!! it's an HONOR to communicate with you!! i came across your 45 and loved it so much that i had to share it with the rest of the world!! miami had a soul music scene just as powerful as memphis, chicago, philly etc. and i love all of he miami artists work. i am married to one of frank williams (of frank williams and the rocketeers) daughters and she told me all about the legends of miami soul. MS WILLIAMS,YOU ARE A LIVING LEGEND. thanks for the kind words and the wonderful music!
i whole heartedly agree!! the song should've been a worldwide big hit!! your mom was real young when she recorded it,but you couldn't tell. she sounded like a seasoned veteran singer!
daughter of the Late Legend, "Hank Ballard", of "Hank Ballard & the Midnighters", during her teen yrs.
