Its not natural and smooth enough to integrate into a meeting although if speech recognition could get good enough to be able to understand 10 different people in one room and record the notes to be distributed in a pdf after the meeting ... that would be usefull .
Swearing under your breath would bring new meaning ;)
Additionally the whiteboard simulation looks pretty cool but again not that that usefull to me yet but with lots of potential.
Thats just like mac OSX, you can set a name in speakable items e.g 'Computer' to the computer, which then listens to the convo for that word. After picking up the keyword it listens for a command. Its not that amazing. Notice how everyone is silent during the commands, and there all probably predefined phrases too, which is also available in osx when you make your own speakable item.
This seems like WAY too much work for what they are trying to achieve. If you want an easier and more organized meeting, just write it down yourself! This is how our population is becoming over-weight. We wont even pick up the damn pencil anymore. We want the computer to just write it down FOR us. It seems like an amazing idea, but its COMPLETELY unnecessary when it really comes down to it.
Why can't he just use his hands, open an agenda file, send it to others' iPhones, and then quickly discuss and go through the meeting in a shorter time? Does a commitment have to be written down?
-Demonstrator: "computer, *ding ding*, query start: what is life?"
PS: Good job to the MIT team, it is impressive work... can two people exchange spoken communication with the computer? Like in the case of requesting a "commitment," can the other person request the commitment or does it have to be someone that 1. the computer recognizes their voice and 2. is a moderator? Also, can you change the sound command "computer" to something different?

not bad. Still VR won't get really interesting until computers 'really' understand what we are saying. That will be kewl.
One minor point, the map of Australia at the end does not include Tasmania.

Sounds just like Star Trek, except in its primitive stages.

This reminds me so much of Star Trek!
But then again, About half of the things that are made today ( Cellphones and Computers ) were based on Star Trek. :)
