@crazyGrrl... I had the same feeling like there's a mucus stuck in my throat...my doctor suspects I have Gerd ....I really had trouble in swallowing even small part of bread .& It change my eating habit as I got choked 1 time - I used to eat a lot before...but I got anxiety coz after I eat I got this feeling of difficulty in breathing....& Im slender before now I really got so skinny
I've gone to three different doctors and most of them say I either have post nasal drip, a tick, or allergies. I've been on Zyrtec, Allegra, and two others I can't remember, but none of them work. I don't really have heartburn, but occasional chest pain. When I swallow, it sorta feels like there's mucus or something in my throat, kind of blocking and making swallowing a little hard. Is it possible I have GERD?
well, i have had GERD for about 7 years. When i was 15 i was having these exact symptoms you described i went to my doctor and he diagnosed me with having GERD, He prescribed me to Nexium (the purple pill) it works very well i took it for 2 years and it greatly improved it not long after my insurance decided they didn't want to pay for Nexium anymore so they switched me to Prevacid which works just as good. When i was 18 i was dropped from my insurance and i haven't had my prescription since.
7yrs. a pretty long time. I know, it was sort of nerve recking to have something like that and, not exactly know what it is. I've heard of Nexium(and, Prevacid)on T.V.(in which, I'm considering). So, have you ever had health insurance, again eversince, you were dropped from your previous insurance@18?
I went 5 years without medication and it was horrible, i was suffering with these symptoms for so long until last week i noticed that Prevacid is now over the counter and it works really well for me. If you have health insurance by all means go see your doctor and tell them your symptoms they will prob. put you on Nexium but if you don't have insurance go to wallgreens and pick up a box of Prevacid 24 hour It works great for me and i have severe GERD. Hope my little brief story helped you.
Yes. It was very informative. Now that, I recall..., I have used Prevacid before...and, it does works really well...but, mainly, not long ago..., I've really, really altered my diet and, that worked out for me very well, also! I guess, that's what it all really boils down to, u kno'?! ;-)
p.s. watch what you eat try not to eat to much fatty foods (easier said then done in know) and if you smoke i Highly recommend stopping. Also if you have problems with heart burn while you sleep prop up your head with 2 or 3 pillows.
Understood. Well..., I don't smoke so, that shouldn't be an issue with me(lol.)and, I just recently started sleeping like that...and, I find that to be helpful, also. It's hard to sleep that way because, I like to sleep on my stomach. Lol..
i hope i dont have gerd:/ ive felt like ive had a hair in my throat for a month now:/

@The3rdHiltonSister That's not true at all. I suffer with GERD and chronic dry cough due to the condition. I'm extremely thin.

I seem to belch all the time(without eating or, drinking)with, occassional chestpain and, backpain. Is the results of this the cause, of GERD?

i would definitely say yes this sounds a lot like GERD symptoms.
