I just bought this model camera "K10d".I see no way this guy is shooting quality photos this camera is horrible in low light conditions.Photo quality during the day or of great quality but not a performing for low-light shooting.I guess it doesn't matter for bar or clubs whereby the guest are drunk anyway.....
@TwistedTim01 how does fisheye works for you?I am considering buying one or stack some extra bucks and go for a zoom super wide angle like Sigma 10-20mm
here is a couple tips i learned for when i was shooting a family get together the external flash help a lot to make me get a shutter speed of 80-120 i have the iso on 2000 because a have a pentax k-x grat camera for low light and it was almost pich dark with just the moon light but it was kinda hard for the autofoucus to chach on but that was my only problem and i am curiouse how did u get good shots with 1/4 of a sencond because there is so much movement anyway great vid
My 7D has this, however its not true wireless, requiring line of sight between the on camera pop up flash and the external flash. Somehow it transfers flash settings, which are set on the camera wirelessly (whether thats IR or RF i dont know) but to trigger the flash, my EX430II needs to see the pop up flash fire. Dont worry though because that flash goes before the shutter, so doesnt get in the frame.
Either way its not true wireless. Maybe its the same with this camera?
For everything in low light, use the lowest f-stop you can reach. Depending on the lens and the camera, it can be from like 2.4 to 4 to 5.6 . The lower the f-stop, the wider the diafragma opening is going to be, so the shorter you will have to expose.... :}
hey bro you know what last week i got a call from my boss asking to take some pictures. Because during my inteview i said my hobby is photography. Well and i said ok then the even was Zouk Out 2009 In Sentosa Singapore. Well i NEVER shot at a night club before. I do have some experience but I'am not a photographer. I'am really stress and dont know what to do. I check your videos and you really gave me a great tips. i wanna thank you! Do check my video i've already upload the pic. Thanks!
@solarves LOL, might want to look up the definition of diffusion - it means scattering the light in different directions, which is exactly what the Sto-Fen does. Softness of the light source is a separate matter, and depends on the size of the light source and its distance from the subject. I agree with the last statement, though - I use a Lumiquest Softbox III on a bracket or handheld to obtain a softer light.
Yeah I meant doesn't create softness using a stofen but diffuses the light - meaning it still remains hard light but goes everywhere. Some people errantly think that using a Stofen somehow softens the harshness of direct flash which it doesn't. Softness is as you say, size of the light and distance to subject.
No light or crowded, need wide angle lens, 15mm get all of them in frame, cameralight is predictbale, no fun light, not predictbale light in bars, need a flash, hard light not too hapy with, whote bouncwe card,
I wish i could but it depends if they keep the light on in the club...
1/4 is too hard when you work in a nightclub, only if you wanna be blind...
I work for nightclub and i usually set my cam at 1/13th at f/4 and flash power more or less 1/8 depending how far you are from the subject...and you can always screen it (the blend mode name on photoshop) later if its too dark...ps: the 17-40 is the best lens for club, often people want a full body and you dont always have enough space
lol noise is ok at some point, some photographer even use it to improve their photos sometimes..because your indoor it will be easier with iso 400 or 800 and youll get noise only if you didnt expose properly or doing some heavy tweaking on photoshop..no dont worry the 17-40 is a L serie designed for pro so its suposed to be better but the more important is your maximum aperture coz u shooting at night, so if u can have f/2,8 or less thats be easier for u, better focusing and faster shutter speed
@5starbrand Why not? It's been several months since I wrote that, but I still stand behind it. A true professional is always learning. A photographer who thinks he knows it all already is not who I would hire. The video is quite well done and informative. If you don't think so, then make your own! Silly.
I'm bout to start taking pictures for a night club in 2 days. But it will have my set-up in the corner taking pictures and printing them out and selling them. What type of lighting do you recomend? I have a Nikon D40X. I really want to know if I can use heat lights instead of strobe flashes.
the brand doesnt matter, but a rebel is definitely not as good a 10d,so it is for sure an upgrade, plus pentax have some of the sharpest results ive ever seen.
dude i went to shoot at a club last night and i am pretty familiar with my gear... but dude... i am SO glad u made these videos! thank you so much bro it reallllly helped alot....and gave me more of the confidence i needed. keep it coming man!
Sorry to echo something that's been said already, but the wireless transmitters... Couldn't quite catch the name of the place. A push in the right direction would be appreciated.
Where can I buy that diffuser? Its not the regular cloudsphere, and gary wong's website doesn't show that style. Also all the wireless transmitters have a ton of hardware they come with. Yours was two peices that just snapped on. What specific brand is the one you are using? Awesome videos. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge
Help: I am the beginner photographer in question. I need to know how to take room pictures as good as appear in glamour/pornography? Specifically I need to know if there is a set apperture/shutter speed ratio, etc.
I am only using 500w tungsten lights at the moment and as was adivised, blue filters. But experiments are not good...
glamour photography is retouched, you should know that...its not gonna come out like that in your camera, some glamour photographer use some basic camera and work on their pics later, i think you should watch some photography makeover..
Just curious. Why did you decide to buy a separate wireless kit when the K10D has built in wireless? Was it slower or something? You can even use the on-camera flash as well as two wireless I believe.
Excellent dude - I shoot in night clubs / live events / bars and clubs as well and everything you say is 100% right on- I also use my PK10D as well..... thanks for the video!!

If you shoot a couple of people, try to stick with f/4, otherwise the DOF will be too small.

dont forget your iso
your white balance
your settings on flash
your tone settings
theres a lot he forgets that is throwing u off

Make a video innit!
THENAMEISREMYSON 2 years ago
ahh you should set the iso at 100, lower the better.
white balance should be set to flash, otherwise you get that lame whitewash.
shoot at 1/4 of flash power, usually good enough
go for portrait setting for the tones
and also dont forget to shoot in raw.. that way you can adjust the exposure later.
one thing i also do is to add a touch of magenta into the camera setings, only a very little bit. trust me it does wonders.
does this help?

i keep the iso at 100 cos it saves me worrying about noise later.. im really anal about that haha.
your right i was wrong about the flash, i meant 1/8 or even 1/16 depending on where my flash(wireless) is and where its pointing.
im using my kit 18-55. is the 17-40 much different?
do you diffuse your flash?
correrog 2 years ago
