This is the music to my dads funeral, we all placed yellow ribbons on his coffin to show how much he mean't,I was 14 yrs and I still love it at 34.......He was a cancer patient not a prisoner.Either way I love the song.
I'm a black metal person.. i hate pop and my style of music would make baby jesus cry yet this song is still in my playlist and my mates think i'm gay for having it :P screw em this song rocks
@rellith Dude, YOU rock. I'm a rocker myself, and this is a good song. I also love "Out Of Touch" by Hall & Oates, it was the #1 song the week I was born.
@XMcMuffinX omg i know that song.. holy crap i never knew what it was called... dude if you were a chick in australia i would so come over to give you a sloppy kiss ROFL!!
This song would be playing on the PA system during the approach and landing of our KC-135R, after extended NATO deployments in usually polar areas. More than once it set the tone for happy or sad news from family/friends upon our arrival. After a 7-month deployment in '85, my wife greeted us at reception at Dover AFB, visibly 8 1/2 months pregnant with our daughter, Meg, and wearing a white dress and yellow bow around her mid-section. A set-up, I was the only one unaware. She's an M.D. now...
I am 48 and lived through this time of music and I really don't like most of the music we have today. most of it is just people yelling and screaming. I really like the stuff from the 50's and 60's. I wished I could have lived back then. KAT
hmmmm... i guess i COULD brag that i'm only 16 and yet i think this song is awesome... but no, i'll just say that this song just put a smile on my face :)
Well it looks like 107 people dont know why they are flagging this down, if it dosent please your ears dont listen to it, instead of coming on after you've hear 2 notes of the song then dissing it. GET REAL PEEP'S
Man....I am a souless mofo but just to think that you have been in prison and your girl ties not one but ONE HUNDRED yellow ribbons around a tree really brings tears to my eyes...damn, nowadays the girl will probably choke you with the ribbons when she sees you....
My music taste is fucked but awesome... I love screamo, emo, emo core, and yet I also like the old classics like this.... I'm also 15 and I get looked at funny when people hear this on my ipod xD I love my music!
This was my Granddads favorite song before he died, on the second anniversary of his death we tied yellow ribbons around the big tree that was next to his grave. It's been 4 years since you've gone Granddad and I miss you <3
It's such a cutest song, symbolically that's he's been away for 3 years(or whatever) . Wanting to get back to his sweetheart, but just look for a good sign, to be sure.
ok this is Weird, i was thinking about this song, i didnt know the title or the author/singer nothing, i just clic on this video idk why, then its the song. Premonition? LIFE IS WEIRD
I know this is said all the time but man I never choose favorites but damn if this has gotten closer than anything else. This is just such a great song in every way. It reminds us of all the good things in life.
I'm guessing that Tony Orlando got arrested for being a stalker in "Knock 3 Times" and he still stalking... :D "I'm coming home I've done my time..." Her: "Oh shit the stalker from upstairs is back!"
@booziesuzie Have another drink, get another DUI, hopefully you will not kill anyone, and you are sentenced to life with no parole. Everyone wins. This is the best scenario. And I will speak for everyone! Everyone will thank me later.
I can't understand what the problem is with the song tie a yellow ribbon around the old oak tree is all about all i ask was this song done bye Tony Orlando and Dawn. This song means nothing to me except the title of the song is also amovie with the same name that's all thanks for your input.
Oh well It's been many, many many years since I heard any thing from Tony Orlando and Dawn I wasn't saying I hated this song I just couldn't remember how sang this song no big deal ok lol.
@EpicBunty He is saying that he is 15 to show how not every teenager loves lil' wayne or Justin Bieber, and if you dont like the comments then just ignore them and enjoy the song :)

So now, the yellow ribbon either on trees or as images on TV are for those serving in war vs the original meaning of the incarcerated.
I was born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s, wished my mom had been born in the 20s, just so I could have been born in the 50s, to really experience the 70s. Damnit. 30 years too late. Still love the music though!
I was a teenager in the 70's had a lot of fun, wish we could do it all over again, I have four kids and there world revolves around computers and texting. They do not know how to pretend like we used to in the 70's
This is the music to my dads funeral, we all placed yellow ribbons on his coffin to show how much he mean't,I was 14 yrs and I still love it at 34.......He was a cancer patient not a prisoner.Either way I love the song.

Yes, it was apparent you were joking- kind of clever and nutty if you picture it.
There's room for all forms of humor, and if you can't chill and crack corny jokes, this world is a sad place indeed.

I was born in the 80s, grew up in the 90s, wished my mom had been born in the 20s, just so I could have been born in the 50s, to really experience the 70s. Damnit. 30 years too late. Still love the music though!

70's simple. Not the way I remember it, but time does tend to soften memories. Yes, this is one of the great songs of the era!

I was a teenager in the 70's had a lot of fun, wish we could do it all over again, I have four kids and there world revolves around computers and texting. They do not know how to pretend like we used to in the 70's
