Fair enough, MGS games are always full of pretty embarrassing and weird things. Kojima isn't perfect, but I still love him for his ambition and the great games he's made. I'd love if he abandoned MGS for good and just made a game without all of the baggage.
Gta4 for me, MGS4 was too cut-scene heavy and most-importantly, the story was awful. If you're gonna have so many cut-scenes, at least make the story good, like in MGS1 and MGS3. Still a great game overall.
Personally, I loved MGS4. I think Kojima pushed himself into a corner with the plot he'd set up in the last few games, and he did pretty well considering that. There was cutscenes all over the place, but it had a lot of story to tell, so I think it was justified.
I never understood why he felt he had to tie up every loose end in the whole of MGS history. I also feel he (or Konami) bottled the ending, without giving too much away to those who haven' t played it. The Microwave scene and "the return" both were brilliant though. If ever play it again I'll have to skip the cut-scenes, which says it all for me.
I played it knowing all the bad things that were going to happen in it. I knew Kojima was pandering to the fans who were asking for everything to be answered, I knew it was going to needlessly bring back characters, and I knew that an awful lot of it was going to be ridiculous and pompous. I was expecting crap. Thing is, although it delivered on all of that, they didn't deteriorate from the game enough to make me dislike it. The positives far outweighed them, for me.
I felt the same and that surprised me. I expected it to be a great game with a crap story like MGS2 but it turned out to be an incredible rendition of an ageing Snake, giving his all one last time. Very touching indeed like this video.

Me too. Kojima's best when he's innovating. He can't really do that when he's pandering to fans who just want a new MGS1 remake, each generation.
