  • This throw is difficult for the man who has stiff bady.

  • It's not underhand, it's a submarine delivery. Cecil Upshaw and Kent Tekulve were submarine pitchers.

  • @DAngelo136 is Chad Bradford considered one?

  • @PsyberKayos I had forgotten Dan Quisinberry. Given that you don't see them at the Major League level, I guess you could.

  • Is the underhand throw in USA?

  • que lo traigan para canheros de los mochis o aguilas de mexicali !!!! increible forma de pichear

  • Only in Japan..

  • @ihelppeopleskate unless you're Chad Bradford...

  • なんじゃこれと言われてるけど、アメリカでは禁止なの?

  • One of the most awesome pitching styles I've seen, he has great movement in his pitches

  • wtf is this?

  • From what I understand NPB plays like 2 or 3 different All Star games in July. Crazy.

  • i hate how ppl think that jus cos they watched moneyball, they know everything about baseball

  • like Chad Bradford

  • His elbow will not last long

  • @prvtlongarm For some reason injuries are less with submarine pitching... A lot of back problems though.

  • That submariner really went down on those swallows

  • @219caleb yes he did

  • this pitcher in the USA would be the best

  • Submarine lefties are best

  • How the fuck do u hit that

  • Quisenberry for the KC Royals pitched like that.

  • this is crazy

    his submarine is crazy

  • Japanese baseball is a mockery of REAL baseball. It should b banned in Japan

  • @nirvanachewbaccabean LOL. You are an idiot. Do you know of a player named Ichiro Suzuki? Hideo Nomo? Hiroki Kuroda? Hideki Matsui? The Japanese have had GREAT players who have done fantastic in America. Don't be so ignorant. There is no "REAL" way of playing baseball.

  • @nirvanachewbaccabean Are you for real?

  • @nirvanachewbaccabean

That must be a joke. I lived in Japan for two years and went to a few pro games. They play a great brand of baseball and are surprisingly comparable skill wise to the majors. Size and hitting power are really the only differences.

  • Submarine crazy? not really

  • this is shunsuke watanabe. He has trouble with lefties, david ortiz hit a 500 ft home run on him..still a pretty decent pitcher..

  • I pitched like this once in awhile and "pitching" coaches don't like it, cuz they THINK its abnormal or dangerous to the arm!

My curve-ball is untouchable when I mix it up with over-hand and side-arm, people freak out cuz it spins in and out, and I just laugh, than throw a change-up!!

  • Can't possibly be good for your shoulder/elbow/entire body.

  • They play the All Star Game at the greatest of venues, the Super Bases Loaded Stadium.

  • did he say mistar submarine at 0:37?

  • I wonder how many cuts or scars he has on the knuckles of his right hand...

  • what

  • His team should be called the SUB-Marines.

  • his hand goes so low... almost to the ground

  • This is the NPB all-star game, these are the best players in the league he's facing

  • that pitch has i name so gey i forgot i think Slice Ball idk if you watch the anime called Major S1 - S5 u may see gyroball and other pitch u dont know

  • lol niccceeee

  • Haha swallows!

  • Just a submarine pitch

  • IS HE USING A WIFFLE BALL? JK

  • He played on the The Japanese WBC team that beat US in the WBC and has won the WBC 2x really ? You think is not.. 80mph still hard to hit

  • i wanna see him come to usa and play in the mlb, that would be fun to watch

  • is this in japanese?

  • He should play softball

  • hes only throwing like 80mph....

  • is the ball allowed to touch the floor first that looks like a right dirty tactic

  • looks like this would be hell on dudes arm

  • A guy like him with a 4.69 ERA???

  • OK! It isnt underhand and its no riding it the release point

  • @TheGingerStrike Submarine is something of a mix of underhand and sidearm. Batters HATE it because as Laz3rb has said, they are hard to hit without going into a pop fly.

  • so swing the bat down and counter act the ball. should work. maybe

  • About as close to a rising fastball as I'll see.

  • I would steal every time he pitched..... Such a slow wind up

  • The first guys jersey said "swallows" -__-

  • 0:35 mr. somebody

  • damn that makes my arm hurt!!

  • @gnomesRus2 I consider that this type of strain on the arm makes you develop some sort of injury overtime.

  • TATSUNAMI!!!!!!!!!!

  • kids got junk bet his knuckles hurt

  • and itas not underhand

  • I can't stand japanese baseball, it's like taking apple pie and filling it with sushi.

  • 0:00 looks like freddiew

  • THATS FUCKIN WICKEDDDDDDDDDD

  • This is not underhand you fucking retard. It's called submarine, if you watched baseball you would actully know you fruit. Get a life, go suck a dildo.

  • It's the stadium from Bases Loaded and Super Bases Loaded

  • what the fuck 125 miles per hour 1:38

  • @FOFO25782578

    kmh

  • @FOFO25782578 125 km/hr not mph can't you read?

  • @holkn damn foo i guess im sorry im not a robot that is always right

  • @FOFO25782578 no ur not a robot that is always right, you are just an idiot that can't even read.

  • It's called submarine pitching

  • there asian what do you expect

  • @loriemendieta I expect that they know the difference between "there" and "they're".

  • @HaydenSousaFaggot69 i said nearly

  • Come to Milwaukee !!!!!

  • @wfbhs2011 go brewers

  • its not underhand pitch its sidearm

  • he gets so damn low

  • Comment removed

  • lol only in japan..

  • i swear sometimes i think chinese, and japanese people have way to much time on their hands...

  • @ARC3093 this guy's a professional baseball player, what are you implying?

  • Watch this upside down.

  • nasty pitcher

  • Mad Skills...

  • that pitch is a bitch

  • This guy must tear up his knuckles dragging them along the ground for every pitch he makes.

  • AHAHAHAHAHAHA SWALLOWS AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • lol buddy my right knee bleeds every time i throw :p not that impressive

  • @ThesePajamas it bleeds because his release point is so close to the ground , and his right knee scapes the ground so he wears protection pads... actually quite impressive, really.... he's a submarine pitcher, and he's very effective

  • @Alexhallkiller i understand that hes impressive as a submarine, but im saying the fact that his knee bleeds isnt unusual. i scrape my knee every pitch, it just means that you have a very long stride. hes a great pitcher, not saying he isnt, but i know dozens of kids including me who do the pads.

  • He is called " Mr. Submarine " because he throws it really low... in fact, his release point is just 2 inches above the ground... his right knee has bled during games because it skids against the mound. he puts a pad on the inside of his uniform around the knee to prevent himself from bleeding.. his form is truly one of a kind, as there is no other pitcher in the world who throws from the same arm angle...

  • swallows are birds, idiots...

  • this is a joke the japanese turn baseball into a circus

  • @nirvanachewbaccabean The joke is that you can't have fun playing a sport can you? In any case, most people would disagree with you, cause this is just one more tool that the pitcher can use in his arsenal to throw off the hitter. It may be a joke to you, but it's just culture difference. So instead of being so arrogant try not to ridicule something that you don't even understand.

  • @west49kids thats not funny. their not chinese either, stupid white trash racist

  • @kevin4free looks chinese to me

  • @CrazymaniacFreak every asian looks chinese to you because your an ignorant feeble white trash.. seriously, kids like you are the reasons why people think americans are stupid

  • @kevin4free no you

  • @kevin4free yo, calm down. If you're not Asian yourself, it's very difficult to tell Asian nationalities apart. Each have subtle differences. In any case, it was just a joke bro, if he was trying to be racist, it would sound racist. To me saying, "You look Chinese" is not racist, saying that someone is black is not racist. Calling someone a chinky nigger, is racist. Either way, this era should be over racism, I have lots of Spanish friends that call me chino(chink), it's just a little bit of fun

  • @JayLeeKorean i dont care about that, but hes being racist about it.

  • @kevin4free i was just joking sorry dude.

  • should of played against Gargles

  • he's not under handing it he's side arming it he is a submarine pitcher get it straight

and yes i am a girl

  • johnny knoxville wears one of those swallows shirts

  • That's a balk. Your first motion towards home like that fake leg kick he does is illegal in big boy ball.

  • @mbryant861 The NPB has the balk rule too, his style is all one motion so it is legal. And don't insult Japanese baseball like that...............big boy.

  • How dose he try and pickoff a runner

  • its called submarine... underhand pitch style?

  • how do you do that

  • I PICTH LIKE THAT SO WHAT!

  • swing above the pitch on fastballs, for off speed wait for the pitch to break back down. Look at his damn ERA (correct me if I'm wrong Japan) 4.69, I think they have him figured out.

  • Unlike other submarine pitchers, this dude is scary cuz he makes the ball rise, making it nearly impossible to hit without popping it up

  • @laz3rb33m the guy just got a single

  • @laz3rb33m

    That's a misconception.

A ball cannot go "up" when pitching, rather he can make it "look" like it is.

There is a physics study about it (called the GyroBall, when the ball goes up because of sheer spinning power.)

The upward ball motion you see in this clip is a flick of the wrist. It's not really moving up; however, it really does look like it's going up.

  • @JihoonJKim

Your theory only applies to traditional overhand pitchers. Obviously, a pitcher standing on the mound and releasing a pitch over his head can't throw the ball so it reaches the plate higher than it started and be in the strike zone.

The mound is 10" high and this pitcher is releasing the ball, maybe a foot or so above it. So any ball that reaches the plate over 2 feet high HAS to rise along the way. It isn't an illusion, the ball really is going up.

  • @Pariah9

    Hm.

I would like to agree to that, but at the same time, I can't understand why such a sought after pitch is deemed unbelievable. I'm going to have to re-look this theory.

  • @laz3rb33m he has a 4.69 era...

  • @laz3rb33m play fastball bud its not impossible to definitely the hardest pitch to hit out there

  • most submariners dont drop the wrist that much though

  • its called a submarine pitch

  • It's Chad Bradford!

  • Comment removed

  • While this guy is impressive, I came here from a Koshien 98 video. Why isn't he standing on his head, doing the splits, flailing his arms and shooting the ball out of his butt?

    Step it up, Japan! :3

  • Where's the balk?

  • hahahaha... swallows

  • @UserName0043 swallows are birds...

  • @Alexhallkiller no shit

  • @UserName0043 no shit... " hahahaha....swallows" stop acting like an idiot then, no shit...

  • @Alexhallkiller wow ur a prick, learn to take a joke

  • If this is an ALL STAR game and he's pitching, wtf must the league be like

  • @yak182 all star games are usually fan voted right? i'd vote this guy into any game just to see him throw like that. it's wacky!

  • Submarine pitching is cool. A disadvantage is that you lose 5 - 10 mph off your top speed. It's why most scouts discard submarine & sidearm as a legitimate pitching style unless your fastball can hit 90 mph.

  • He's balking

  • thats called submarine

  • 90 people are swallowers

  • @GodHetfield are u a spitter?

  • @dan1600m i learned from the best...you should know ;)

  • lol

  • its not an underhand pitcher its a sidearm pitcher D.A

  • @coreytucker26 No, it's submarine-style pitching. I throw side-arm, but my arm goes straight out, never curls down like that. It's similar to side-arm, but very very different.

  • "MR. SOMEBODY"

  • Are u dumb?

  • Crazy submarine pitch a, nasty knuckle curve while pitching submarine would be the best

  • Just because its a japanese person pitching submarine style, its a "crazy" pitch..

  • even if it's speed is not completely amazing it's really really hard to get a good hit with that kind of pitch but if it's trown high it's gonna be flying for sure

  • it looks like the ball is bouncing off the ground

  • Thats an amazing way to pitch, Shinsuke "Mr.Submarine" Watanabe, as the locutors call him

  • I like that they keep original team jerseys for the all star games instead of the ugly AL NL jerseys they make the MLB wear, just another excuse for Selig to sell more Jerseys that we don't need

  • omg! thats the kent tekolvi buggy wip! wth! thats not japanese! he invented that before that kid was born! (close to)

  • @tempviduse I dont know where you see that it says he invented it

  • nice fan and shirt faggot 0:10

  • @NINJATURTLE510 Intelligent comment, faggot.

  • Wizard Pitchers I swear....

  • its more than just a sub pithcer this is brutale

  • at first time i thought the ball was bouncing off the ground O_o

  • @MonsteriuM I thought that's what he was doing too. I never played baseball, but I was thinking, "Is that legal??"

  • hahahahahaha swallows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • nothinq is wrong here it is just a submarine

  • I really wish i could pitch like that

  • I would hate to face this dude. I hate seeing submariners

  • theres nothinq wronq hes just a submarine pitcher

  • crank shot

  • @JackRizen Darren O'day-Texas Rangers

  • submarine style not that crazy

  • is he skipping it off the ground?

  • Oh good hit

  • Would that kind of pitching even be legal in the states.

  • @JakRizen2 A few pitchers used to/or still do use this in MLB

  • @JakRizen2 yep thats used by some mlb pitchers too

  • @RockbottomRamzez Can you name any by chance? I don't really watch a lot of games in america anymore and just keep up with records and I don't remember anyone who pitched like that the last time I did watch games in the states.
