I thought the A4 was fully automatic, FPS Russia used an a4 carbine and it was full auto, someone please tell me if the a4 is three round or full auto or both
if you kill someone with the bullet, thats one man down, if you wound the enemy, then the wounded man is down screaming for help, 2 guys come over to deliver first aid or drag them to safety, then 4 guys come over to get him to a helicopter/safe place...then they spend money/supplies on making sure he lives. id take wounding one or more of the enemy more than outright killing them at first any day
@marettmrc That's assuming you're in battle with an enemy that has provisions for EVAC, or even cares about it. Islamic militants don't mind dying in battle. Wounding them allows them to booby trap themselves and be a danger to your forces even if they eventually bleed to death.
@KarrensMan69 A valid point, but id say most likely since they have no EVAC or provisions, the wounded would die pretty quickly, and if not, eventually. With a lowered morale and stopping force, in the heat of battle, i doubt the militants would worry about carrying their dead away with them, and they would be more worried about getting out alive, to continue the cause.
@marettmrc But it is a possibility, America is fighting a very unconventional war right now. But if anything it will pay off, because we will have 12 years of operational experience in this kind of warfare now, which could be around for a long time
@KarrensMan69 well they carry the dead away so that we cant get a body count so i dont know how they would booby trap a dead body thats not there. but they do IED dogs and cats
@KarrensMan69 Yeah they propably would refuse medical aid, so they would get to heaven. I don´t mind religious people but these fanatics piss me off. I´m just glad that US and NATO have helped Afganistan and Iraq to build their own army so they won´t immediately be srcrewed by fundis when the Coaliton forces leave.
@marettmrc Are you kidding me? You're so ignorant. I can't believe it. The only way to win a battle nowadays is to kill them outright. Wounding, like the uploader says, will only encourage them to booby trap their bodies, posing a threat to you and your fellow soldiers. Or even civilians. We're fighting in the Middle East right now and these insurgents have no problemm blowing themselves up to kill a lot of Americans.
There is strength in numbers. If you can double-tap or hit all of a controlled burst into yur enemy's body than u've fucked him up worse than what a single .30 cal would do to him. Add damage by adding more bullets. 5.56&5.45mms give you a certain degree of flexibility because of low muzzle climb&low recoil.It would be even worse if all the projectiles tumbled thru the enemy's body, but at yaw/tumble range u would most likely be using semi
@KarrensMan69 A3 actually didn't have removable carry handles. Everyone thinks that but they didn't when they were first adopted by the Navy. A lot of people think that because commercial AR-15s with detachable carry handles are always called AR-15A3s. Sorry....don't mean to troll. Just want help correct a common misconseption. :D
@Leon1700 Doesn't stopping mean that it incapacitates the target really fast? Not neccessarily ripping him in half or anything? @Leon1700 Doesn't stopping mean that it incapacitates the target really fast? Not neccessarily ripping him in half or anything? Ive the term before(NOT FROM CALL OF DUTY) and they also said "Knock-down power".
@TheArbiter138 Well its 5.56mm (dont know who would make round with precision 0,001 mm :-)) Other thing is that stoping power of rifles with this round basically does not exist, its a myth. Velocity of rounds is so big that it just goes thru flash and body would fall rather forward when dead than back. iIf you have kevlar vest with ceramic plate and someone hits you with .50 we might start talking about stoping power.
@oOChaosWolfOo You're right, I had too consult the manual to make sure. The A3's are pretty rare, I've never seen one up close even though I work on guns everyday.
@KarrensMan69 SEALs used to use them before the M4A1 was a common special issue, i only know cuz a SEAL team hooked up with my unit once in Baghdad and they had an A3 on them. At first when i saw it i thought it was an A2 but the trigger housing said Safe-Semi-Auto instead of Burst. Brought it up, he said it was an A3. Fuckin SEALs got all the cool shit while my Marines were fighting with shit used in the 1st Persian Gulf. Oorah.
Thats the one! M16A4 with single and burst fire selection right? I remember the time when I was in training we were issued those and had to zero them in for BRM.
@WINSTON4747 I don't know, but in a general way like engaging insurgents in towns etc. I think burst-fire could be used for suppresive fire but is it accurate enough to be used in combat?
@TheShooterAddicted Well clearing houses its perfect, put the weapon in your shoulder aim center mass of the target and squeeze, but you can usually shoot just as fast on semi auto. The accuracy depends on the shooter and his level of training.
@killerNC17 Contradict me all you want, the A3 is a version of the M16. Just like the A1, A2 and A4. It has distinct differences from the A2, as well as the A1, and A4. This whole discussion is nonsense, since it's all based on the same Stoner direct gas impingement system that was derived from the Armalite AR-10 series of weapons.
@KarrensMan69 i never said it was not a version. the a3 looks almost identical to the a2 except it has a detachable carrying handle and is full auto. and i agree with you that this conversation is pointless.
Main noticeable difference between A2 and A4 is the upper receiver platform is a picatinny rail for optics instead of the single piece carry handle RIS. Also the forward hand guard assembly has top/bottom/left/right picatinny rails for hand-grips, bipods, IR lasers, flashlights etc
The M16a2 and M16a4 don't have much of a difference guys, I wouldn't even call it a huge improvement. The M16a4 can carry laser designator, flashlights, and optics unlike the m16a2. Not much of a difference.
Which means as long as the selector is in the AUTO position, the weapon will keep firing until the magazine is empty.

Many people can buy rifles shorter than 16" no questions asked all you have to do is attach your receiver and send off the tax stamp money to make legal. Im talking about the complete rifle sets (not parts kits). That they sell on shotgun news. they have many to choose from in the ar-15/m16 family. All you have to do is just attach your lower to them. Funny how it was a civilian weapon. Stoner didnt do that because first of all the stocks where crap. And past all what Stoner did the military hated the rifle. Was not until Colt Brought the rights of it... Politics is how the US got the M16.
@hackerhunterdotexe I did. The US Army was the first they used it to Train South Vietnam's troops. USAF was one of the last if not the last to be issued with the weapon... Your thinking about the guy that test fired to weapon that thought it would be great for the USAF.
"Curtis LeMay viewed a demonstration of the AR-15 in July 1960. In the summer of 1961, General LeMay had been promoted to the position of USAF Chief of Staff, and requested an order of 80,000 AR-15s for the U.S. Air Force."
"The M16 entered United States Army service as the M16A1 and was put into action for jungle warfare in South Vietnam in 1963,[6] becoming the standard U.S. rifle of the Vietnam War by 1969."
@hackerhunterdotexe Thats true. However the USAF were not the first to use the weapons. That order was placed on hold and the Weapons were first used in Nam via the Army. Not counting the testing placed on them in the states
how come on videos, when you fire the rifle they sound different, like on some when firing the M16 it has a high pitched sound, while on others it has a low pitch sound, is it ammo, recording device
He's actually got a point, my elbow was up. That's wrong. It reduces control, and increases your silhouette. It's not a big deal to "diss" a soldier when you see a fault. It's when you just follow some druggie crowd and "diss" them without any thinking of your own behind it that pisses people like us off.
@ditdatdot Te HK416 is similar enough, so a transition would be easy. The operating system is just a little different. The US empire doesn't change very well though, so if it happens at all, it will take years. I liked the SA-80, I tried it out in Iraq with some UK soldiers. We have special forces units using them, but so far I don't see conventional units adding them to the inventory, especially since our government is controlled by people who hate the military right now.
i wouldnt my goverment hates us, i'd say they just dont care mate. we dont get very good armour so thats why i just fight in afghanistan using a bandana.
the HK417 is a very accurate rifle. it can fire further than an M16 or SA80 but the only problem is that it has only 20 rounds. its basicly a modernised version of the british SLR L1A1 rifle.
mate my hat off to you. i respect all of you yank soldiers. got good friends in the green berets
@ditdatdot Well thanks, I never met a Brit I wasn't fond of either. Of all the countries with militaries in Afghanistan, it's only the US, UK and Canada that the Talibs are afraid to fight. The 417 looks awsome, I kind of wish all NATO forces used the L1A1 though. It was a much better weapon than the M16, and the 5.56 round is too weak.. Cheers Mate.

callofdutyguy9 2 years ago
The first ar-15's were full auto. It was a civilian gun that the army adopted not the other way around.
ECTBWHO 2 years ago
hahaha sorry your wrong man. Stoner developed the design for the military and us civilians copied a version to meet legal requirements
ObviouslyBoredKid 2 years ago
Funny how it was a civilian weapon. Stoner didnt do that because first of all the stocks where crap. And past all what Stoner did the military hated the rifle. Was not until Colt Brought the rights of it... Politics is how the US got the M16.
ECTBWHO 2 years ago
ERRR WRONG AGAIN! Ill take my SMith M&P over my Colt M16 all day the Smith is better
ObviouslyBoredKid 2 years ago
Are you replying to my comment? because if you were your wrong AGAIN.
ECTBWHO 2 years ago
@ECTBWHO
The USAF was the first to adpot the AR-15, not the Army.
hackerhunterdotexe 1 year ago
@hackerhunterdotexe That is not true.
ECTBWHO 1 year ago
@ECTBWHO
It is, feel free to look it up.
hackerhunterdotexe 1 year ago
@hackerhunterdotexe I did. The US Army was the first they used it to Train South Vietnam's troops. USAF was one of the last if not the last to be issued with the weapon... Your thinking about the guy that test fired to weapon that thought it would be great for the USAF.
ECTBWHO 1 year ago
@ECTBWHO
"Curtis LeMay viewed a demonstration of the AR-15 in July 1960. In the summer of 1961, General LeMay had been promoted to the position of USAF Chief of Staff, and requested an order of 80,000 AR-15s for the U.S. Air Force."
"The M16 entered United States Army service as the M16A1 and was put into action for jungle warfare in South Vietnam in 1963,[6] becoming the standard U.S. rifle of the Vietnam War by 1969."
hackerhunterdotexe 1 year ago
@hackerhunterdotexe Thats true. However the USAF were not the first to use the weapons. That order was placed on hold and the Weapons were first used in Nam via the Army. Not counting the testing placed on them in the states

@ECTBWHO
lol Alright. Now this is just splitting hairs.

@hackerhunterdotexe Yeah... Peace

Yes if you are a class 3 license holder. If not you can buy a Colt that is semi only for around 1200
ObviouslyBoredKid 2 years ago
how come on videos, when you fire the rifle they sound different, like on some when firing the M16 it has a high pitched sound, while on others it has a low pitch sound, is it ammo, recording device
callofdutyguy9 2 years ago
some cameras have a tendancy not to be able to pick up a sound thats over a given decimal. i think thats how you spell it.
frenchy0316 2 years ago
Recording Device . Some are crappy, and some videos are probably Airsoft

Gee, don't they teach you guys how to shoot?
SugarPill 3 years ago
Dude dissing someone on how they shoot is one thing buy dissing someone in the army that's is just wrong
GamingGal0re 2 years ago
He's actually got a point, my elbow was up. That's wrong. It reduces control, and increases your silhouette. It's not a big deal to "diss" a soldier when you see a fault. It's when you just follow some druggie crowd and "diss" them without any thinking of your own behind it that pisses people like us off.
Thanks for your support though.

@KarrensMan69
you guys getting trained in the HK416 or the HK417 yet? Im in the Royal marines and our SA80's are being replaced by these weapons.
ditdatdot 1 year ago
@ditdatdot Te HK416 is similar enough, so a transition would be easy. The operating system is just a little different. The US empire doesn't change very well though, so if it happens at all, it will take years. I liked the SA-80, I tried it out in Iraq with some UK soldiers. We have special forces units using them, but so far I don't see conventional units adding them to the inventory, especially since our government is controlled by people who hate the military right now.
KarrensMan69 1 year ago
@KarrensMan69
i wouldnt my goverment hates us, i'd say they just dont care mate. we dont get very good armour so thats why i just fight in afghanistan using a bandana.
the HK417 is a very accurate rifle. it can fire further than an M16 or SA80 but the only problem is that it has only 20 rounds. its basicly a modernised version of the british SLR L1A1 rifle.
mate my hat off to you. i respect all of you yank soldiers. got good friends in the green berets
ditdatdot 1 year ago
@ditdatdot Well thanks, I never met a Brit I wasn't fond of either. Of all the countries with militaries in Afghanistan, it's only the US, UK and Canada that the Talibs are afraid to fight. The 417 looks awsome, I kind of wish all NATO forces used the L1A1 though. It was a much better weapon than the M16, and the 5.56 round is too weak.. Cheers Mate.
