  • What a disappointment to see Peter Garret sell his soul when he entered into politics. Thought he would've done so much better. Shoulda stuck with the oils. Great song with two great bands this one.

  • I can't imagine a band on a major label doing something like this today.

  • know your history Australia

  • george remembers who most of the audience left without asking for an encore because they had never heard of it

  • Love that chicks mo.

  • c'mon Pete get the F**n big companeesa outta the ki,berley

  • amazing till this day and decades beyond. one of the most intense and dynamic live performers

  • It is unfortunate that while having a Utopian outlook we are all political pawns for the market place of government and there is no escape.

  • Midnight Oil is one of a trinity of bands that carried the torch of truth. I saw them at the Norfolk Boathouse, and it was a once in time moment when they sang..."It's the harbour town, where the grey battleships call home"(Steppenwolf and The Clash)

  • R.I.P

  • The greatest Australian band by a long way. Great double song

  • . . #ff

  • Yes they were known for their intense live performances etc.

  • Deadly !

  • Oh and the the singer is now in politics xD

  • WOW!!! always loved midnight oil but never saw this one! Incredible!!

  • @rebaler2 This is from before the release of D&D. ABS followed along.

  • I'm Irish and I love Australia. We need to learn a lot more about the original culture of Australia. And respect it.

  • We are all one, come on lets get on with uniting. Aussie Aussie Aussie

  • Este video e a música são muito boas!

  • Two meny people in Australia think pete is going to change the world over Night imagine if he wasnt there in government.... I saw the Warumpi band at the Big day out in Melbourne back in 1997 98 ? what a gig George RIP

  • All can see, George (RIP) Is the ultimate showman.

  • RIP George Bururrwanga, lead singer of Warumpi Band, mid 2007. Dynamite performer... has solo album "Baru", released a couple months before he died, is the best album I've heard in years. A new style labeled "Yolngu Funk", it's intense, melodic, rocking, funky and soulful... and almost impossible to get!!! My copy has it's own security guard.

  • @dlebs What did he die from???

  • @cookieman38111 some kind of cancer, the family didn't release specifics... check out his wikipedia page.

  • The lead singer of "Warumpi" is like the aboriginal Freddie Mercury. Over the top!

  • I can't believe peter garret. Here he is singing for the history of australia and for aboriginal rights, now his government is providing over the military occupation of Aboriginal Land in the name of child abuse. Since when is the military able to stop child abuse?

  • agreed.sold out for a pension Garret you better stop & think you are fast losing credibility & support

  • And both of you are clearly helping the reconciliation process and the rights of the Australian indigenous people by searching OSX and World of Warcraft videos on youtube.

Its very easy to criticize people from your oversized computer chair sitting on your oversized ass ... what were you doing in 1986 when Midnight Oil were playing free shows throughout rural Australia with the Warumpi band to draw attention to indigenous health ... come to think of it what are you doing now????

  • It must be horrid for Peter to be part of such limited vision ...but thank God he is in there.

One way to change a system is from the inside. I for one am very glad that his voice in our government ...... imagine if it wasnt there??

  • Awesome! Two great Aussie songs, two great Aussie band!

  • Wow, what a treat.

  • Great moment of the BlackFella/WhiteFella tour in Central Australia during july 1986.

I specially like the way Gordon Butcher and Rob Hirst switch on drums...

The trombonist is called Glad Reed.

  • what a collaboration!!

  • SOLID AGAIN!!!

  • Brilliant vid, brilliant band and fantastic live! Saw them in Fremantle, Western Australia in the early 90's. The best!!!! Pity most of the WA crowd boooed his anti-racism comments!

  • superb joint act and superb video.

  • so good!

  • does anyone know the name of the girl playing trombone?

  • That's Rowena. Her auntie used to come round to our place and eat raw bugs. She was weird. Apparently one day their place burnt down and the only thing left was a mattress, inside which was a million gold dubloons. The kids stole them and melted them down, made them into a giant golden ship and sailed down the river. Didn't get very far cos it sank. Rowena lives in my town now, saw her at the pub the other week. She's grown an extra arm. Shame.

  • Idiot.

  • Hey, just to clarify, this comment was a late night poke at nonsensical youtube comments, but I just realised it could be interpreted differently. Great clip - love Warumpi Band!

  • The fella from Midnight Oil gives me the creeps when he dance's

    hahahahahahahahah:)

  • Beautiful!

  • Warumpi the best.

  • WARUMPI ALL THE WAY!!!
