This was really boring up until about 3:30 and I kept watching because I knew he'd do it - he REALLY brings it home. Donny's voice is well suited for this role. To each their own interpretation but I like the more intense approach to this song. Either way, it's a classic.

It was, and still is, common practice to refer to prisoners by a number instead of their name in some prisons, both as a kind of punishment(by taking away their identity of who they were before they went to prison). Ever see Les Miserables? Jean Valjean was known as "Prisoner 24601", and Javert continues to call him this through the show. Has nothing to do with the Holocaust.
