This is a slightly earlier version than the 1934 zonphone recording made in 1934. posted on my site. If you post the full cat number you can get the date although I'm guessing this is an Austrailian pressing and the chances are this may have been recorded in Aus
The catalogue number is C.4091 & the matrix is Cc8016 with a triangle after the number, & what looks like a "T" above the triangle. It's actually an English pressing.
Do you know exactly when this was recorded? I have a red label scroll Victor with this song electrically recorded. There is an oval "VE" pressed into the shellac, and the label indicated the pressing was by the "Victor Talking Machine Company" which I think would date the pressing ( and recording ) sometime between early 1926 when the scroll logo was first used and mid 1929 when RCA bought the Victor Talking Machine Company
So great! Have rarely heard the whole tune!

This is the song that Harry sings to Tonto as he laid dying... It's a good song to die to.

I was told some time ago that it was recorded in 1934, but I've been unable to confirm it.

Wow! Then that would make it later than my electrical recording of it. Who'da thunk?
