  • fighting, fighting, fighting. Why is everything about fighting?

Want to win a fight or something? Just avoid it.

  • So if the old geezer is right, if Bruce Lee got attacked at a bar, his intense training is the thing that would be his downfall?.... don't agree

  • @Ben1987X No he wouldn't as bruce lee himself says the same as the old man here, reptition builds muscle memory and it's not a matter if thinking it's a matter of pure reaction. The average person who got a few karate lessons is the person he's saying will not be able to think straight and he's 100% correct I've done martial arts now for over 18 years and only until I started getting into fights did I realise all my training was pointless other than appreciation of an artform.

  • This is why I love youtube: guys like this sharing worlds of absolutely excellent insight. I think a week of video instruction like this, with practice, would better protect you than a year of live karate instruction, and that's not to disrespect karate or it's cousins at all.

  • you never actually explaned how to control fear or how to use it. You explaned how the body shuts down but you dont explan what to do, when there a scumbag in your face abusing you. I know your ment to knock him out but, its the fear factor im not sure about.

  • lovin d language as teacher xD

  • Good stuff. First time I've come across something like this.

  • Big muscular dude with the tats is from a wing chun instruction book

  • I remember this kid showing me kicks and shit in High School, I guess he thought he was tough, well he got into a fight with this other dude, and we in the hood in this school, he tried to kick him some how and the dude caught it and whooped his ass with a few punches hood style, Martial Arts lol

  • @ReFleXFnatic Probably because he tried to pull a high kick and wasn't fast enough haha. Rule number one if your in a real street fight fuck high kicks.

  • @NancyPelosi1954 That's not true.

The rule is, fuck high kick IF you're ont really proficient and never without preparation. But removing them altogether is really silly, most people have no idea how to defend properly against them and they have KO potential.

It's the same as saying you should NEVER use a suicide throw in self defence. You have to think before doing so, but they are really useful in the right situation.

  • @Sagramorbald No shit, how many average people are proficient enough and quick enough to pull off a successful kick to head level? Thats my point... statistically most will not be able to.

  • @NancyPelosi1954 Ah, noone that is NOT proficient should try a move for the first time on a real combat situation - I'm just waying you don't have to give up a potential fight ender on your arsenal because some people tell you so - irony is, usually people that would say a suicide takedown is the way to go :)

  • @Sagramorbald Exactly, but a majority of folks will want to stay away from it especially if the attacker is at the least, a decently proficient fighter with good reflexes...they could catch the kick because one is too slow and put you on the ground and regardless of what modern day sport fighting leads people to believe being on the ground in a real fight is the last place you want to be. lower kicks to the groin, abdomen, stomach, knees etc can be much more effective, quicker and harder tocatch

  • Hello,

Do you have a school in canada?

  • You don't think,"IT" just happens.

  • Love that "Hour glass" Analogy!

  • This is interesting. He has a good point. Too many martial artists train their techniques exclusively while neglecting their mind. You MUST train to use your techniques as instinct rather than use your untrained techniques as instinct. Deceive your opponent and react instinctual without thought. Martial arts do work, but you cant rely purely how often you trained the techniques. Dont neglect training your mind, its essential.

  • est-ce que tu ne parle l'anglais???

  • this is so true.. A gangster in school jump onto me, and instinctively with fear and surprise, I kicked his nuts with so much power. XD

  • interesting approach of fighting.

  • good lesson, but those r some ugly ass moves

  • Hmmm intelligent...

  • Mais t'en a pas marre de poster de la merde pour faire chier le monde ? Allez, va t'étouffer avec ton oreiller et revient plus nous casser les couilles.

  • Great video,I was just wondering what black belts does he hold in what arts?

  • Peter Consterdine came from a Karate background and holds Black belts in several styles of karate. I think he was one of the youngest Blackbelts in Britain at the time. Obviously he has trained/cross trained many styles but Karate is his background. He does a couple of good dvds called PowerStrike and PowerKick all about this type of training. Check it out. Peace

  • Geoff Thompson always gives great advice. I love what he says about having too many techniques.

  • Good stuff ... no Bull , realistic.

  • good stuff

  • Check out the triune brain theory and you will have even more precise explanations...

  • This teacher is great! :D

  • Fantastic video! One of the best explanations I have ever seen! Never mind the great sense of humour. :)

  • That was excellent one of the best videos I have seen 5 stars.

  • sweeet

  • Thanks for sharing this.

It is very good and realistic advice. Whoever takes SD serious is well advised to listen to these words.

Only one piece of caution though: the legal advice is I think valid in the UK. Everyone should spend some bucks and consult a lawyer in her/his country to obtain legal advice in advance. Every doorman will tell you that basic legal knowledge helps dealing with cops and red tape if the need arises.

    Have a nice day

    silk

    ;-))

  • @blacksilkblacksilk nobody is going to pay a lawyer to find out what you can obtain for free by asking the cops or even reading a book on law.

  • I agree partly. If you are on good terms with the cops they will certainly answer. If - for whatv ever reason - you do not see eye to eye with the, that might be difficult. Myself I am friends with quite some cops, and actually they said asking a lawyer is worth considering, since the courtromm is an extremly slippery battlefield. If I woked the door I would try to train in a gym where cops train AND I would try to find out how local police procedurte works. If a book does the trick OK. B

  • @blacksilkblacksilk the law is clear in most countries but lawyers will try and twist the situation in court, just make sure and get a good one.
