Yeah, they seemed to have entirely abandoned the "8-12" range. Thing is, in the eyes of researchers, "tweens" (as they're rather obnoxiously called) are very different than they were twenty years ago. They may not be wrong. The culture has changed a lot, and shows like this might indeed be hard-pressed to find an audience with that group now.
I watched this show when I was 7, and I got straight As in math because of it. I agree, I think PBS is more worried about showing bright colors to 1 year olds now.
The math-focused program PBS has now, the animated "Cyberchase", seems to be aimed at a younger audience than "Square One" was, though honestly I haven't seen it enough to say this for sure.
But as far as I can see, that's about it for that "tween" range. "Maya and Miguel" looks to be aimed at the 6-10 range to me, and the other shows aim there or younger.
The days of "321 Contact" and "Ghostwriter" are way over.
I am so embarassed to admit that when he asked the question (if we work together how long will it take), I thought, "Hm, I wonder how to figure that out." I'm a college graduate!!!
I love it!!! i was an avid square one watcher...waay bak in the day. don't remeber this one tho. that being said, this is what made learning fun for me! and um, i must admit i was totally learning (again) from this!! haha!
you can mix music and any subject together and learning will be much easier.

The video names its artist "Jonathon," which is the same name as a variety of apples. I didn't get that until now.

"You're consumed with apple envy."
Some jokes I'm glad I didn't get watching this show the first time. Don't forget about Reg E. Cathey as Freud.

It's a shame that PBS doesn't have shows for older kids anymore. Shows like this made my weekday afternoons worthwhile.

I agree with you marbles. People let kids grow up too fast these days.

Some parents try to buck the tide, but their fellow parents often aren't much help, LOL.

The introduction to this video is, "Call me crazy, but this guy has a problem with his apples. Let's see if he can solve it."
