Photoshop All about Brushes; Editing, Loading, Using !!!

So the only way to permanently edit a brush is to duplicate the modified brush, and delete the original?

Why can't I just 'apply' brush settings to the current brush? That would be the intuitive way to edit a brush, Adobe.

WOW....I learned a lot about brushes on here. Thanks a million. I just wish adobe would come up with a keyboard shortcut to rotate the brush. They have one to make it bigger or smaller, even one for hard or softness. now all we need is one to rotate it left or right. That would save a lot of time. Please help me! I have Photoshop 7.0.1. When I use my smudge tool, I can't alter the scatter dynamics on my brush options. For some reason, I can't activate it. There's no lock beside the word 'scattering.' The word 'scattering in my brush options is unclickable (it has a grayish font) Someone please help me, I need the scatter smudge brush.

Maybe you are using a really old version of Photoshop, If your up to date, here's a quick tutorial, The best way to make a brush is, file new and type the width and height etc, then when you have set your look below and it should say background contents click the drop down menu and select Transparent, then click o.k. Now do a test with paint brush just a few lines, then click edit and click define brush preset, if your unable to do so, then i assume you have an old version, I'm using CS3!

I think it is because it is way too much like a classroom and not so much like a tutorial video. I mean there is a lot of info there and it is great for beginners but I think breaking it into different videos as opposed to one long one would have worked better.

what is a pen tablet?

a pen tablet is kinda like a mouse in the shape of a pen, it has its special pad (like a mouse pad) that effects where the curser goes, and it has 2 buttons aswell the you can asign actions to...so its better for 'drawing' things on photoshop etc than a mouse. Its weird to use for a start but you get used to it.
