i was among the first of the muti-colored hair variety in denver as the new wave hit here. this town was so scared of us!
i wish there was a way to get a high quality collection of the vids from the first five or so years of mtv. they're hard to get in pieces. my son loves the music and the vids. he's 27 now. i watched joe jackson on a saturday morning variety show in 79'. i love all of his music, but his first five albums were incredible!!!
i am not a kanye fan, but i'll thank him for getting you guys to check out the incredible talent back then. all of you need to try to see as much of the videos from the late seventies and eighties as posible. back when the video actually added some meaning to what the artist was trying to convey since the moral majority had no clue what was happening in the real world. sorry, they still don't know. just check it out!!!
Crash , you're right on all counts. You might want to check out the video that goes with this song [it's on Youtube} The audio quality isn't all that great but the visual is hysterical.
You guys are crazy, yes it's a really simple bass line repeated, but the production is amazing, and the dynamics are great. This is a really cool song. Was Kanye really talking about this song in that other song? That redeems him to me.
no doubt that joe jackson is an absolute musical genius given all the genres that he shines through, but NOTHING compares to the energy of is late 70s/early 80s stuff. brilliant!

I've been hoping to see the video again...it's been a long time. The first year or two of MTV was great when they aired videos like this one.
