It's actually the Treasury. The outside of it was used for Indiana Jones, but a new and different inside was constructed for the movie. It looks nothing like the real inside of the building.

i went to petra last summer and i saw that they closed the temple entrance

Why doesn't it look anything like in the "Last Crusade?" LOL, Is this the actual temple they show on the outside in the movie?

Yes it's the actual temple. Pretty awesome to see it in person, sadly there was no immortal knight inside!

The rock is not too hard...its sandstone...easy to shape

It should still be opened to visitors.I don't think things have changed so much in a few months.When I was there new kinda rooms had been found recently beneath the entrance.Anyway,it's truly impressive.

When i went in 2006, they would not let people in the rooms. It was guarded and blocked. Wish i could have gone in.

Hey, I've been thinking about it, and I really think I went into one of those, but I remember having seen one of them closed to the public... But there are much more beautiful things to see in Petra than those rooms, I wish I could have seen that new discovery, all the ground is made of fallen rocks, so I don't doubt there's much more hidden beneath than what we could see till nowadays. is there only this one room inside??? i am curious: where do those doors lead to? have you been there? or is it not allowed to enter?

they have the entrance guarded and no one is allowed in past the entryway, so i have no idea where anything leads to, however i wouldn't be surprised if there was a maze of corridors and rooms inside. It makes no sense otherwise to make something so elaborate on the outside with nothing inside.

my curiosity is peaked. is no one allowed inside? i have yet to find a layout drawing of the treasury.
