Sometimes boys aren't ready for kindergarten and get put there because they are five. I myself have a 4.5 year old who is not ready to sit in one place for kindergarten. This is why he will be continuing in a Montessori school for one more year until he is calm enough to sit in one place. BTW, the way we teach children is unnatural in this society. Expecting a 5 year old boy to sit in one place for 4 hours at a time is really unrealistic.

My son was put thru this humiliation in FL in early '90's , also Asperger's. Principal ordered teacher to put his name on board in front of all the other kids , & get checkmarks in front of everyone. All the other kids were given another form of discipline, mine was the ONLY one given this in front of his peers. It damaged psychologically and I had to have him bussed to another school to get away from the sadistic principal's BULLYING. These adults need to be removed from the kids!!!!!!!!!!

I am a public school teacher who has taught some of these children. They are quiet, absorbed in their own universe, and can occasionally be given to interrupting someone else who is speaking.

As a supervising teacher, I would have disciplined the teacher.

My son networks with three Asperger's social groups and gets plenty of outtings and social activities. He has the gift of art, working on an AA in Art in community college , and has a lovely Asperger's girlfriend gifted in Art as well. His life is full , busy and happy. :o)
