@MXmereceELgobKtolera You should be able to get that out of it unless it has really high miles or needs extensive work. I suggest you advertise it on Discoweb.org and Craigslist. These cars are easy to sell to anyone who has never driven one, as they are so sweet to drive, but the reliability issues can make them a hard sell! GLWS!
@07FJC Yes in fact it is the 04 model and almost exclusively the 04. I had a 01 and an 02 and I want to get a 04 now because I've always understood that it is the best model. Do I need to really ask those questions about head gaskets as seen in the comments? Great video. Would love to hear your thoughts on LR3.
@awesomeapproved Make sure it doesn't have any vibration issues. Mine did. Yes to head gaskets if it's got more than 60k on the ODO. It's a $2k job. The LR3 is awesome- the 4.4 Jag V8 is a terrific engine. I drove Defenders when I lived in Scotland- excellent rigs.
@07FJC What do you think is a far price for a 2004 Discovery, right now in 2010? I am seeing a VERY wide range up here in New England. Like, $6500 to $12000 - no lie. I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
@awesomeapproved Depends on what it needs. If everything works, the head gaskets have been done, it has no vibration, and the front drive shaft has been replaced and it has low miles (under 60k), then I can see $12k. if not, you'll be looking closer to $6.5k. I got $10k for mine, and it had vibration issues, everything else was fixed.
My first Rover was a US spec D90. 1995- conniston green SW. I loved it. I've owned 2 Discoverys since then and about to buy my third. There's nothing like this vehicle (in its size range) for the money. Nice walkthrough, nice vehicle.
@awesomeapproved Are you looking at '04's? They were reckoned to be the best. I actually sold this one & after a brief stint with an '07 Range Rover, I am now driving an '08 LR3. I'll make a vid when the weather gets better...
Nice! I like many others on here have been looking at getting one of these but am reluctant to doing so because of the maintenance costs. We'll see if I take the leap sooner or later! :)
@jdperalta84 LOL, make me an offer! Seriously, try to find one that's had the head gaskets done, new shocks, new secondary air pump, transfer case reseal, etc. You'll save in the long run!
I want to get a 2004 Land Rover Discovery, but my parents are keep telling me that's it's extremely unreliable and that the service is expensive. I found a used 2004 model with 100K miles for eight thousand. What should I do?
@Armand1694 Your parents are correct. However, anything 7 years old is likely to start showing its age. If you haven't already, go drive one. You'll soon see what all the fuss is about. Make sure you get the 100k '04 inspected by an independent (never seen that particular rig) shop. And expect to do head gaskets soon, unless they've been done. Check everything works, and especially feel for vibration. If it works out & you get a good one you'll love it!
@Armand1694 Yes, if you are still thinking, Disco is very expensive to fix and own. But once you get hooked on it, I guarantee you that YOU WILL NOT WANT ANYTHING ELSE! Gasket is a big problem and do check for undercarriage.
Will be buying one of these just like this in the next couple of weeks ... 2004 same colour, though ours is a 2.5 ltr Diesel. Beautiful vehicle and the best luxury off roaders in the world.
My mom has one of these in a light silver colour. The interior is so much better than dad's Disco 1, not to mention handling, ride comfort and acceleration.
thanx !! tried just a few mins ago and problem solved... so how are they supposed to be used? if dont mind answering that one as well.. apprecitate your time..
i have an 04 also.. my transfer case shiftter? i think its called? kinda new to this land rover stuff..i love it tho.. but mine only moves left and right. is that normal? thanx...
I will sell my 2003 Disco for 4k cash. Dallas, tx. I love my disco but have 2 other cars.

Nope, it should move forward & back also. They often stick if not used- put the transmission in neutral and gently try to break it loose...
