Furthermore, you can see/hear the MG42 firing back from the P.O.V. of the Browning.

Amsterdam probably didn't mean it was the best scene as in, "it was awesome and brought joy to my viewing experience". I think he feels it is the best scene because of the emotion that the movie gives. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm sure this scene was one of the main or important scenes in the movie, as the death of any protagonistic character marks some type of turning point of the plot and affects his/her allies.
