I remember running against time to get safely to my home before night comes and I stayed there until the sun rises again. My 2nd day in Minecraft, which was during 1.7.3, I made a hidey-hole and waited just like Paul. The funny thing, though, is that I didn't know what a Creeper was at that time and, upon morning, I opened up the entrance to my shelter and saw a tall green creature. And...........BOOM! I blew up. This event which occurred nearly a year ago is known as the starting point for my progressing hate for Creepers. :D

In theory, couldnt you just punch a hole in the dirt, crawl in, and seal it up with dirt? you wouldnt suffocate, and monsters couldnt spawn in a place with no room. You could even make it into a small burrow, with furniture and a bed.

There is no hunger bar because it's alpha and u don't have a hunger bar till 1.1 or 1.8

Paul, I recently bought Minecraft but when i click single player, "NightFall" doesn't come around? I mean I can kill cows, break trees and collect blocks, but no creepers or nightfall comes around for me to experience "surviiving". @electranerd make furnace, fuel furnace with planks and burn raw wood to make charcoal. which can be used as a substitute for coal and lasts just as long!
