  • she's too patient I would've been cussing up a storm.

  • I love his face when he says "You're not one of those anti-smoking activist, are you?" 8:52 LOL

By the way, I always thought he never smoked (and it didn't seemed weird to me since his father died of lung cancer, maybe it was for him) but seeing what he does with the smoke, I'm starting to thinking that he may was a smoker once. Don't know when, though.

  • @WildKitten46 He used to smoke, but stopped smoking over 20 years ago.

  • @Nicolesha100 where did you find that info?

  • @WildKitten46 From an interview on YOU TUBE. Tipe: Alan Rickman Nobel Son Ans Interview. Enjoy watching :)

  • @MsAppassionata ~ You are not alone. One of the few laughs in truly dark film.

  • Who else wishes they were thaat cigarrette? To just, for a moment, tough those beautiful lips of his.

  • "I don't trust lonely people"...Geez, dude, I don't trust psychotic, controlling (if not SUPER SEXY) guys who lock me up and play mind games with me! So far (as much as I love Alan in EVERYTHING), this movie has given me a permanant WTF face. O.o

  • I'm sorry. I know this is a serious film but when he says "You're not one of those anti smoking activists" when she grabs the cigarette it always cracks me up. That and "This is my first". <3 Alan Rickman. Such a great actor.

  • Good god Alan is hot. Gives me chills when he get's up close and personal.

  • lol this movie is turning me on xD

  • @annghellika Sorry but I don't think so. I read on the internet that she herself was the girl who was captured in the closet. And i think the sound in her head because of the hit reminded her of sitting in that closet. She processed her trauma by writing the book. hope this helps ^^

  • Great actor. He's also hot!

  • Government policy? This is really creepy. Are they trying to show a CIA investigation that was a cover up?

  • Man, Rickman puts on an acting clinic in this one. He's so much better at acting than is Stowe, it's not even fair. I think she's overmatched in this one, by a lot.

  • @XxRomaNovaxX What? You again? Yet you're still watching this.

  • @XxRomaNovaxX What's your problem? A lot of people find Rickman attractive. Why does that bother you so much? Let people be. I'm sure Rickman won't lose any sleep over the fact that you don't think he's "hot". Chill out and enjoy the film.

  • lol "one of those anit-smoking activists" XD

  • " I don't trust lonely people."

  • "I don't like lonely people."

  • 6:20 i love how he pops his head out and says "do you object to my interpretation?"

  • @HannaForTheWin

    Well I don't

  • The way he smoked his "first" cigarette was sublime. I can't watch this movie without being partial to the evil man/Alan Rickman.

Anything he does is extremely arousing. Mentally.

  • I DO BELIEVE I AM IN NEED OF A COLD SHOWER...

  • HOW could you NOT know anything about politics?

  • cig burns don't burn that badly, c'mon maddy ;)

  • @MouthOfTheUnknown

    bullshit they don't.

  • @The61769 my skin may be less sensitive than other people's but to me a cigarette burn does warrant such a reaction

  • @MouthOfTheUnknown

in your case then they would have to go to a torch........that would prob smart a bit.

  • After seeing this film my love grows even stronger for alan! :D

  • MAJOR OOFT when she says "I thought you didn't smoke" and Mr Rickman goes "This is my first." - Alan Rickman ♥ and just this film in general!!! :D

  • This is what happens when you "read in" to a book. Messages not originated are fabricated, and create conspiracies and fear to an audience and potential government.

  • @rizikuoti that's a heavy statement/i could disagree or expound upon that, and say that you must understand that all words colours sounds and images are maGick. mind control is magick. movies are maGick. minds are movies, movies R minds.move over mind, and make me a movie get it?

  • @rizikuoti that's too much of a sweeping statement, all we DO in civilization is "read into" books. what does that statement mean, qualify it! the bibLe, the Communist Manifesto, the Koran, all these are 'books' that we have 'read into'. are you saying that totalitarian autocratic government is ONLY doing what they do because of Books? i don't get it.

  • @tomcornhole No it's not actually. I never said the word only.

  • @rizikuoti right, i'm just trying to figure out yr. position. so, would you say "states" or "governments' are essentially the ROOT of humanitys problems?

  • @tomcornhole Okay, POTENTIAL GOVERNMENT. This is what I mean by "reading in" to things. You're coming up with shit I never said by taking one element and elaborating enough to make a different point.

  • @rizikuoti knowledge is almost infinite, confusion abounds, i seek only clarification, to increae communication

  • @tomcornhole oh, shut up and enjoy the freaking movie.

  • @rizikuoti okay, mom

  • This reminds me so much of a story i'm reading....

  • @britnychole what is this book i read that this story is closed to the georges orwell 1984

anyway a great film which shows that ar is a very good actor

  • @fred65444 oh no its not a book its actually a fanfiction that it reminds me of XD......and i haven't read 1984 but i would like to

  • 2:58 Oh Gawd if Alan Rickman grabbed me like that, I'd totally melt and be all "You can have me."

  • His facial expression when he says.....Govermet polity.....is sooo ggrrrr ;-)

  • 7:37 Why that's ABSUUURD!

  • Comment removed

  • she is in the same night gown that she wore in the movie unlawful entry

  • Alan just has this dynamic to him and to his voice that allows him to change from genuinely worried and consoling, to brutal and unrelenting in an instant. It's a gift, and it is shown beautifully in this dark film!

  • it's not his first! so scared!!

  • 3:14 Sexy body

  • I like when she says evil witches. Like Snape? ;o)

  • And again with the mic boom...

  • SUBMIT!!! I Would Totally Submit To Mr. Rickman.

If A Genie In A Lamp Granted Me 3 Wishes...

The 3 Wishes Would Be Me, Alan & That Closet Land Table!!

    That Table Is AWESOME!!

  • "I don't smoke"

I don't think that line was supposed to be funny, but it really is.

  • You are not one of those anti-smoke activist are you?

    hahaha

  • This remind me of the movie 1984 which had John hurt in it who was in the harry potter films like Alan. I wish John and Alan would do a film with them as main characters. They are both great actors who need oscars.

  • @SuperDogbiter they are too great for Oscars. If the Oscars don't recognize them as brilliant actors, to heck with them.

  • as much as i LOVE Snape, as im a major Harry Potter fan, Alan should seriously be recognised for more than just our favourite potions teacher.

  • This movie is... well its really interesting. Im not going to say anything more.

  • stockholm syndrome anyone?

  • @leeleehoku exactly what I suffered .. and still am :/

  • Alan is such an amazing actor!! I love the way he said " I don't smoke." Then later he pulls out a cigarette!! lol. His character is scary hot!! I wish Aln would hit me in the head the way he did to her!! lol. He is the best actor in the whole world!!

  • ...how about when she says "I thought you didn't smoke" and he says "this is my first". Bah!

  • I'm just going to put it out there haha.. When he leaves to get ice, wouldn't you be either trying to rifle through all of the draws for some kind of weapon or running through the door yourself? Haha not that I mind waiting for Alan to come back of course.. But in that situation..

  • i would be like hurry alan im waittiinngg. if he said to me ok u can go now ide be like no its ok u can keep me here i dont mind

  • i think its because -

    she's in pain,

    she's confused,,

    she's angry,

and I'm sensing a little fanscination with this man...

    and well,

if she did rifle through the draws and find a weapon or run out.. there would be no movie.

    :)

  • It's meant to be indistinct and subjective as to where and which Government this play refers too.. You can't go definitively claiming it's that exact scenario..

  • @a4ol:

It's actually about escapism. She had a really bad childhood and her book is how she escapes from that fact. But in reality she can't escape from her past. Just like she can't escape from the interrogation room or Rickman's character.

  • HOLY CRAP! Boom AGAIN at 4:41!!!

  • This girl is so cute!

    Ouch... So beautiful!!!

  • This is such a good film. The whole smoking sequence is amazing, which clearly shows Alan's character is a liar. 'Cause who blows smoke rings the first time they smoke? Ah, he's wonderful in this. <3

  • "I don't trust lonely people.. life's eternal spectators.. watching, waiting." Amazing writing, amazing ACTING. No one can do it like Alan can!!!!!!

  • HAHA "You're not one of those anti-smoking activists, are you?" I love watching his facial expressions and his voice.

  • haha yer see his facial expression he like screws his face up lol so cute. and when he is blowing the smoke and making smoke rings his face loks fucked up yet still sexyy

  • rofl his face looks fucked up? neverrrrr. yeah it did look a lil awkward, not gonna lie haha.

  • I love how Alan says "This is my first!"

    He is so hot!

  • "This is my first......"

    SOOO hot!!

  • Is it just me or does Alan's charecter change moods quite a bit? lol.

  • am i strange because i think its hot when alan gets violent?

  • Absolutely not. <3

  • hell no ;)

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx nah i find it hot to hes just all round sexaay

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx absolutely not.

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx

    awwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah :)

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx most deff. not alone with that one <3

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx Not really. It depends. I kind of get that way. Like for example, Robert DeNiro in Raging Bull was abusive, but the way he did it, it was kind of attractive. Of course you probably wouldn't think that way if someone did that to you in real life, hopefully, but you're not alone

  • @xxSnapexLoverxx 208 likes? I think not.

He is totally hot. It's okay if we think it's hot. It's a movie. It's fake ;D

  • I have a strange infatuation with this film but the reason for watching it was so that I can see ALAN. He is yummy and he LOVE. I respect him as an actor so much and his voice is hot too. :D

His face at 4:05 made me laugh a bit.

  • lol yah, that ia a great expression!

  • "Some people have their eyes burnt with cigarettes."

"Is that what you're going to-"

    "I don't smoke."

    Hot damn =]

  • *drool drool**swoon swoon* would probably be my reaction to if I was ever her.

  • When he gets really close to her, I was freaking out. This definitely does read like a play.

  • Yes, I have to admit I am an Alan Rickam fangirl and proud of it!

  • 2:14 "Sentimental" sounds just like in HP

    AR RulzZ

  • no offence but that chick cant act for shit.

oh and alan is the sexiest man alive.

maybe im just jealous of her. ha

  • Alan Rickman just has one of those voices... Like Patrick Stewart or James Earle Jones or Ron Perelman.... The voice you hear in your head reading Shakespheare's 23rd sonnet.... "I alone decry my bootles state, but thy sweet love remembered? I scorn to change my fate with that of Kings"

  • "You're not one of those anti-smoking actvivists, are you?"

    Cannot stop laughing!

  • i love the moment he said "This is my first"... What a play!!!! I wonder if they ever put in on stage? I think it woud be great!

  • after he blew out that smoke i just pictured him saying "Who..are..you.." like the caterpillar in alice in wonderland haha can't wait to see that

  • You know, he says that it's his first, but he can do smoke rings... me thinks he was lying... again.

  • Who gives a toss about creepy, velvet voiced englishman! Madeline Stowe is just so yummy. I wish she was my wife...sigh...

  • hahaha faddy, "creepy, velvet voiced englishman"?

that description makes me love Alan even more!

But it's okay, I approve of your crush on Madeline, if I were a guy I'd probably like her too.

  • X-X this man is soooooo freaky.....

  • I absolutely LOVE Alan in this! It's like every other line is hilarious! (And Sexy!) He's just so adorable!

  • don't put ice on a burn!!!!

You never put ice on a burn! Just cold water!

  • "Come on, it was just a tag, don't make a fuss"

I LOVED IT WHEN HE SAID THAT xD

  • LMAOOOO I love when he says..."this is my first...."

  • i feel so bad because when he says your not one of those anti smoking activists are you

    it always makes me laff

  • I feel like I'm watching a different movie than those making comments...I'm just not getting it.

  • 6:23 Love it when he pokes hishead out...i honestly laughed out loud

  • I laughed when he did that too! It's a little sad that we laugh at things like that in a movie like this...

  • What's his name in this? I don't remember hearing him introduce himself but I'm too busy watching Alan so I could have missed it...

  • I don't think they gave a name, only that he was the officer in charge, or whatever it said he was. I watched it yesterday so I don't quite remember.

  • The look on his face at 4:05 when he says, "I don't smoke" is priceless. Oh, that accent...makes me want to move to England so I can be surronded by such lovely accents all day.

  • i live in england :D

believe me alans voice is unique

you probs wont find someone else with alans voice

    but you never no

  • hopefully no one else has a voice like that...a voice that makes women everywhere faint...cause if other people did...there's be women fainting everywhere lol

  • so true

ive never heard anyone who speaks like alan :D

so i think his voice is unique

i hope it is cause your right

there would not be one women left standing lol

  • lol his voice seems very unique :D i'm glad he's the only one with a voice like his...cause too much of a good thing usually = a bad thing lol

  • oh that was nice, at11608... 'women fainting everywhere'!!!

    how very true! :)

  • lol

  • Actually, I work with someone whose voice is mildly similar (minus the British accent) and he looks a lot like him when Alan plays Snape. This guy though has dark gray hair, but I always think of Alan as Snape when I see him. I get shivers whenever he does a facial expression exactly like Alan's!

  • LOL

  • Actual, it's kinda horrible! I'm pretty sure that if I met Alan, I wouldn't know what to do. I can barely keep my head with this guy. Funny too that they're about the same age...

  • if i met Alan, i'd faint...LOL

  • LOL! Probably all I could do too!

  • LOL "crazy fangirls UNITE!" LOL

  • And to think that I used to look down on fangirls... but I'm proud to admit that I am one for this hunk of man!

  • at least you're proud of it! LOL

  • HECK YES I AM!!!!! LOL!

  • LOL yay! lol

  • i'd be one of them women LOL

  • so much originality

  • ''it's just a tap!!!!???!!!!'' It really hurts being boxed around the ears like that!!!however light

  • wow, i'm feeling so sick been turned on by this, but i could seriously trade places with her, conversations with alan all day, my idea of heaven

  • Very twisted movie. I was genuinely scared. Great job Hollywood!!

  • at 2:25 He look guilty when say government polocie

  • when he hits her head the NOISE almost hurts my head. that bit is well filmed.

  • mike at 1.00

    o.o

  • This movie covers all the aspects of power and abuse of power: sexual, psychological, emotional across the dynamic of male to female. The interrogator terrorizes then consoles like a father, which only makes the abuse worse (Like incest itself.) The underlying perverse sexuality that exist furthers the anxiety.

This has to be one of Alan Rickman's best performances. Only Rickman can make a cigarette look so much like a weapon of sheer evil. He might as well be holding a blowtorch.

  • Well... I´m a writer, I´m a brunette, I have brown eyes... so Alan, what are you waiting for? :-D

  • man i am turned on my his nastiness!

  • best part: "you're not one of those anti-smoking activists are you?"

  • I should not be as turned on by this as I am.

  • this film is great...no-matter what rold alan plays he is always brilliant and sexy!

    thanks for uploading this xxx

  • who directed this movie?

  • Radha Bharadwaj 1991

  • ah yes..

    but a sexy bastard.

    lol

    I luv alan rickman XD

    splendid actor..

  • It's so sadistic and at the same time a bit hilarious when he says "you're not one of those anti-smoking activists are you?" x-D He's a bastard in this film

  • You are right. He's so sadistic in this film. One minute he is trying to be nice to her and the next, he's so cruel. I sometimes wonder if he really feels sorry for her. At times, it seems she is making him doubt what he is doing. I just love Alan Rickman. I would do anything to meet him. He's an excellent actor too. He's got it all.

  • I agree, in every part he ever played he "owned" the charachter you know :-p Doesn't matter what kind of film with what budget, he's just excellent in everything he plays. And he isn't one bit arrogant too!

  • one thing i don't understand is whether Alan Rickman's character really belivies that her books have hidden political message or does he just play a game with her? Is he really a policeman? ;s

  • Good question. I'm pretty sure he knows. He's just doing what he's ordered to do probably and just blocks his mind for the innocence or guilt of the prisoner.

Nevertheless it's hard to figure out what is "real" in the movie..it keeps you thinking

  • thank you for the answer, i guess it's true. Think if she just had walked away in the beginning when he openened the door for her. What would he have done than? I can't belivie he would have let her go anyway.

  • I agree but I think, because he knew her so well because of all his observations and his research of her life, that he KNEW she wasn't going to walk through that door. He knew her personality well enough. Plus at the same time he made her feel like he wasn't the bad guy at all and that if anything went wrong she only had herself to blame! Again he knew her personality was sensitive to this kind of manipulation. This was part of his tactic to keep her mentally enprisoned aswell I think

  • i suppose so. but he's making such a fuss about everything. Why want he know "what did you mother never noticed"? if he just want her to sign the paper. Why does he even put pressure on her to tell him about the assaults as a child. Anyway, i'm not english so i didn't really catch the very ending. What do he say after they get out from the closet? When he shows her a picture of something? (I really appreciate your patience with my sluggish questions, you'r really an angel)

  • No prob ;-)I understand, English isn't my native language either.

I think he gets her in a more vulnerable position by asking her those personal questions and thus he can gain more acces to her mind. On the other hand the side of him that's not completely "jaded" yet or numbed by violence feels for her though he doesn't let it overpower him. Ironically it's her vulnerability that touches him.

  • so sweet of alan to get her ice!! hehe (hopeless addict of alan rickman)

  • I love Alan Rickman. Mmmmm good!!

  • Thanks for the upload!

  • this is a great film thanxs for puttin it on youtube!! x
