This song would have received the max crowd response because it has been around long enough to have reached legend status, it is singable enough to be a theme, and Robert has recognized the beauty of it and let it evolve into an amazing classic in which he allows the melody to take front stage and wraps this lovely voice around it. Wow! I was there for this concert. I was on your right... but at the very top. In fact, I just recorded a small video of me just singing 'Boys Don't Cry' along with all the fans in Royal Albert Hall when they played this song. This was played before the magnificent 'A Forest', which was the last. However, this song received the maximum crowd response!
It was my very first experience of a Cure gig! I am looking forward to their next gig in Wembley!
Cool, you had the exact opposite view than me. I was all the way in the back of the RAH, on the second balcony I think. But I did have a frontal view. ;-)
