Teams are begining their preparation for the new olimpic cycle. We can't say what team is the best yet. Brazil started well, wining the World League 2009 with many debuted talents. However is too early to make any prediction. The Russians didn't show their entire potentiality. I believe Brazil and Russia will rule this cycle. But many other teams will be pssibly fit enough to face them!

Historically Brazil is no doubt the best (unless you count the Soviet Union, they'd be the most dominant overall but it's just Russia now), but in the past year USA has been completely dominant up until now, and Matt Anderson, 6'10" OH isn't healthy and they're reintroducing Clay Stanley to the national team. Brazil is prolly the best in the world right now but the USA has a lot of newer players and a new coach so you can't judge them yet. It's too early in the post-Olympic season to judge.

They're still amazing but you can't claim they're the best in the world when the last year clearly shows that the USA has been the best. Who's the best now? We can't be sure yet, there hasn't been much competition so far and a lot of teams still haven't completely settled on a lineup.

You can't say anyone is best yet, lots of teams had players retiring (especially USA) after the Olympics, and they're all still trying to find the best starting lineup. A lot of teams are also bringing on young guys, so they haven't become as much of a team as they will be in 4 years.

In the USA they're also adjusting to a new coach with a new style.

Both teams are amazing, no need to compare who's better after only a few tournaments.

And Brazil havent changed their players? the US had almost the oldest team there. Cuba had a average age of 22 and they came fourth. Brazil played with three of their starting players from the Olympics. Giba, Sergio and Murilio. The US played with three of their starting players. Stanley, Lee and Lambourne. Still Brazil was the best team there. and everyone was changing their playing style.

They won 3 times consecutive the World Championship and they are also, 18 times world champions.... Different them here, in Brazil the volleyball is profissional. The nationals competitions are strong and very well balanced. That's why we have generations after generations of good players... similar as futebol (soccer). Volleyball is a sirious business in Brazil.
