  • If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It

  • I LOVE MICROSOFT

  • windows 7 is better

  • Comment removed

  • How the store works .........get fucked

  • hey hey hey gents dont lose our time with Microsoft, stop it , use linux for free and kill the capitalists ..... Linux is the best ...

linux linux linux linux linux linux linux linux linux linux linux linux........

  • Mike Angulo's mouth isnt moving in symc with the audio :(

  • If this is the real thing, no way I would wanna buy a new computer. HELP, SONY, SAVE ME!

  • You don't run "apps" on a computer. You run programs.

  • @RedSandStudios

and what is a program ..... an application its all the same and i know you want to tell me all the differences between programs and applications so go ahead

  • @RedSandStudios Yeah, I agree that you don't run apps. This is not work of Apple, but Microsoft, come on Microsoft! It now, looks like the "new" Xbox 360 dashboard and I think it's ugly. It's missing glossy effects too.

  • That the os is tablet and computer compatible is good....But

I can say they did it again..steel stuf from apple change it a bit i act like they

    have all the idea's

the whole scrolling part...how windows act and start looks like dashboard but then al lot more ugly..get yourselve some own idea's

    stupid microsoft monkey's

  • @nunit1987 You do realize that Mac would have failed if it wasn't for Microsoft, right?

  • @RedSandStudios Let's go furter back... there would be no microsoft if apple did not build there first computer.

  • for now just stick with win 7 and stop trying to make money on every occasion microsoft. If you have nothing to do try and fix vista you fucked up. And win 8 Touchscreen, big wow. There are keyboards you know.

  • I dont want this windows 8.. downgrade to xp if its gonna be like this

  • is it just me or the lady at 31:25 was aiming for some geek cock?

  • The audience reaction.. so aloof.... maybe that's because they were able to "prioritise this event with them here today".

Tip to Microsoft: Don't call it Windows 8 as a code name, call it Windows 8 officially, how hard is that?

  • "They call it Guano".

Huh? I think I heard that wrong.

  • Windows 8. Optimized for your local mcdonalds cash register. What a peice of shit.

  • the demonstrations here look absolutely fucking awful, trying to shoehorn a tablet os onto the desktop

  • oem activation = hardware tied to a certain os. No thanks.

  • can i do copy the cracked .exe file then paste it to its program directory?

  • Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers, Developers ...

  • Bloat bloat and more bloat

  • I'M NOT GONNA BAY THAT SHIT!!!

  • I like this, it's very new and fresh, but I think they should have a desktop only version for, say, businesses that most likely don't need the tablet experience.

  • This windows is stupid...:P

  • Windows 8 is going to make people want to buy mac, because it's such a change from windows 7 to windows 8 and people won't know how to operate with that new OS. This windows is going to be a disaster for Microsoft, because if you look at the GUI, it simply sucks.

  • @thedigitaltom, Here is something that you need to know. Windows 8 touch GUI is for tablet computers. The desktop GUI would be the traditional GUI. Now for a Mac. The iphone and ipad GUI is totally different from the Mac Lion's GUI. You wouldn't be happy if you have the ipad's GUI on a Mac computer.

  • LOL no video cameras......

  • Comment removed

  • good in concept... (powered by AC during the demo)..what happens when its unplugged is the big question mark.

  • What if Microsoft is just fucking with us, and Windows 8 is like some badass mix between windows 98, XP, and 7 with someone elements of Linux, and this "tablet and app" OS is just a scheme to show people how stupid tablets are.

  • @blueishblackrain unfortunately in a post-gates microsoft, this is a pipe dream

  • @blueishblackrain I would shit bricks. But without Bill Gates around now, I wouldn't count on that :(

  • Why don't just use the Windows 7 layout and make it stable? Windows 7 is fine... And that company never had a bugfree system. They're trying to reinvent the wheel, but ends taking the other company's instead..

  • FUUUUUUCKK! That's so awesome!!!

  • It's shame that without unified hardware, for example, the trackpad, Microsoft can't make a unified gesture for 8.

  • i guess the windows 8 will be an update for windows phones 7!!!

  • i dont want apps, fuck that

  • @Emb4Prez you canuse programs as well thats why you can go back to the one version that looks like windows 8

  • @cris178Zune yeah i saw it later on, im all for it tbh

  • "please no video cameras", heh..

  • when i first saw that printer i was like "what are they putting windows on printers now?!?"

  • 12:24 Windows 8 Milestone 3?

  • The Windows 7 desktop mode has GOT TO GO. If you're gonna do something as awesome as the touch UI in Windows 8 you need to commit to it Microsoft! We shouldn't need to go to the old clunky desktop at all.

  • @YUPnNOPE It's better for business clients without touch, they'd rather stick to what they know rather than a UI which is designed for a feature they don't have. Not that I don't like the touch interface, but it's just not going to be that useful to around 40% of Microsoft's customers (business).

  • goodbye apple overpriced shit!! welcome windows 8!!

  • useless...just like unity for ubuntu...wtf is up with devs this days??? who told them we wanted "innovation" ?? better looking UIs??? we just want a fast, easy to use computer???imagine a hardcore gamer using a touch screen pc -.-" i hope they AT LEAST give us the option to disable "windows' 8 new effects"

  • now how are we supposed to program bloat and viruses using HTML5 Microsoft just makes it harder for us

no really how should i install netbeans or visual studio on it

i've seen the normal interface but it seems as an expansion since there is no start menu we can't open normal apps, the desktop has nothing and the open apps don't appear in the taskbar so it looks like microsoft is changing everything

but wait didn't apple announce a few weeks ago lion which should combine features from IOS and OSX

  • I bet most people who said they didn't like this interface when windows phone came out had never used it. It's really clever of Microsoft to bring out the same consistent metro interface on already popular platforms like Windows and Xbox. Eventually this will drive up the sales of windows phone and creates a real modern brand for Microsoft

  • every OS is good for something else.

    If Server & Security -> Linux;

    If Security & smart -> Mac;

If Games, elegance, speed(win7 is faster than snow leopard), andt other... -> Windows

  • lets hope they don't release it tomorrow...

  • wow windows really? microsoft shit works on windows? who would have thought

  • lolololol this is it? how gay. i want a android OS.

  • real multitasking - its windows thats the least i would expect from it

  • goodbye iPad.. hello Windows 8..

  • Comment removed

  • SO, lemme get this strait though, W7 works great, performs great, is versatile and powerful, and has the best of XP and *cough vista cough*, but instead of supporting that for another decade and a half or 2 decades, they want to shove this shit down our throats and make us buy an OS that most people will only use a percentage of? (yes i'm talking about the touch crap) I hate tablets, they dont do anything for me because I dont need the usage, but I still have to waste 3-400 bucks on trash?

  • For 20 years.. yeah, right. That's because they stole designs from other companies.

  • This makes the iPad look like a chinese knock off.

  • Microsoft, I'll let you get started now on your apology to me for creating this crappy OS interface. What the hell is wrong with you?!? HTML5 based apps?!? I'm not going to abandon years of C++ training. Give me a normal desktop!

  • @TheAndroidUser Well uh idiot no one said they were abandoning C#, SL, or .NET - this is the start experience.

  • @TheAndroidUser this is tablet interface...you have a standard interface too for desktop!!!

  • @KidMenace86 I've used Windows since Windows 3.1. I got a MacBook Pro last summer. I'd rather use that than switch to this new Windows 8 crap.

  • I'm an Android user and a Linux user and I'm actually glad Windows is trying to become relevant again outside the desktop OS. This means that they're not sitting on their laurels anymore and will push iOS and Android to become better. Competition is always better.

  • This is a final nail in the MS coffin. Long live MAC. Long live ALLAH

  • WINDOWS are FOR REAL MEN!

  • @lelouchblacking I don't get why people are saying Apple/Macs are better than Windows/PCs. A lot of people say that Macs are better simply because they don't get virus. Its been proven that it could get viruses. Macs are complicated and it doesn't allow people to customized it. PCs, on the other hand, could and people could just simply build a whole PC by themselves (if they know what they're doing). So, I don't see why Macs are better lol.

  • !!! THUMBS UP - THE SONG !!!

  • hundreds of millions of developers ?!

  • Apparently by the time Windows 8 comes out no one will actually be using PCs for study or work anymore...wel'll all just be dicking around all day flicking between apps :-P

  • Хрень

  • @RenePacMariano150390 Good think I'm from the future! (I have windows 2000)

  • @RenePacMariano150390 They said they are still working on it...

  • So, if i log into my laptop, will i see this, or will it automatically go to the "Traditional" desktop ( 12:04 )?

  • @cheatmasterbw you will see the crappy phone os which is based on html, how easily will it break or be hacked.

  • i love the way he says that windows runs with low requirements but they are using the best hardware they can find

  • @josephreeve1 Yeah, we'll see how it actually runs on lower grade machines when it comes out. I doubt it will be as responsive as we see here, but you never know.

  • @josephreeve1 How are ARM processors the best hardware you can find? He's basically running Windows 8 off the power that an Android phone would have.

  • @gotenks157 he said in the video that it is the best cpu out there

  • 16:50 and theyre getting hotter, which means they break, which means you are ripped off

  • 17:10 no its not, its windows taking control of your computer when you dont want it to

  • @josephreeve1 LOL. Thats like saying an iPad-only app wont run on my iPhone 4 because iOS is "taking control" of my device...

  • @Feircejaguar exactly, thats exactly what unlocking phones, jailbreaking ipods and ipads and installing custom firmware on other devices is. and i do it all just so i can tell the company to suckit, and also cos its better as it unlocks new available features :)

  • @josephreeve1 Lol what? Im talking about usability, not unlocking features. Even if you hack an iPad-only app onto the iPhone, it won't be usable because of the screen size and resolution differences. Just like windows 8 not utilizing Snap on lower res screens/devices. So there's no "taking control" happening, it's a matter of usability and end user experience.

  • @Feircejaguar no cos i use linux as it gives me a choice and it doesnt make dum choices for me

  • @josephreeve1 "no cos i use linux.."? How is that an answer to my previous comment? You know what, never mind...theres no point reasoning with the average fanboy... I dont know what you have against windows 8, but looking at your comments they seem pretty extreme for an OS that hasnt even hit BETA. Anyways, i think i've proven my point. You stick with your linux, theres no denying youre 100% satisfied with it...

  • @josephreeve1 Yeah, but different strokes for different folks... I love linux, its light and fast, but really the user experience is crap thanks to a lot of devs thinking documentation comes last, on the other hand osx has a very focused user experience and at least at Windows 7 level things are finally pretty good, lets just hope they get Windows 8 right for both business and the general public first and foremost and thinking of how to extract extra m$ dollars as a much lower priority.

  • 13:34 no it doesnt, it blatently gets slower

  • a touch screen UI for a desktop is bullshit.....

  • OMG LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STEVE NOTES AND THESE SHITTY NOTES....................GET A LIFE M$

  • @FearlessDabangg hahahah steve got into your head uh? stupido numero dos hahahahah !!!

  • I can't see me updating myself, for desktop or standard laptops, its just looks too fiddly to use efficiently on a desktop. Don't get me wrong, i think it looks beautiful, but this OS has been totally optimized for touch only. I like change, change is good, but i think sometimes the old ways are the better ways and in this the desktop is almost phased out, i can see there not being one in the next OS/Windows 9. Not clever Microsoft.

  • not to be judging..so far, its pretty much like windows 7 with a special "feature" or "app" that does the same thing except that is more visually attractive. idk the whole feature of this thing yet, but i think they need to do research and develop more but "we're are not done yet" as he said in 25:16

  • Steve Job: " I've seen better"

  • Come on. They should have shown how to use it with a traditional desktop mouse, not a touchpad. This is going to be great on tablets, but I'd imagine every desktop user switching to the regular UI. Monitors should not be that close to you for you to be able to touch them anyways. Its bad for your eyes.

  • @asianoutcast87 They did - page up - page down on the Metro UI to go from one screen to the next- traditional UI - keyboard and mouse (which of course isn't baked yet.)

  • @jessiethe3rd

What are you talking about? The only showed the touchpad mouse on a laptop. That is not a desktop mouse. They did special gestures on the touchpad that reflected on the Ui. A desktop mouse will not have those features, so that is why I wanted to see it.

  • "No video cameras are allowed?" then how the heck was this video recoreded! Oooooooo!LOL

  • id love that screen on running on my desktop 7:52

  • @cris0p2gruffalo it doesn't look anything like Android... it looks like Windows Phone 7 if anything!

  • PEOPLE Please mac and windows are different operating systems! I have ran ubuntu , mac , and windows they are all great systems. So Please stop hating on each of the systems!

  • Who's this hippie spokeswoman?

  • Windows 8 is nothing just a small shell running over windows 7. They are trying so hard to come out with something new and not spend 10 years in the process. Seriously, get Ubuntu instead.

  • @sohrabnaushad Wait... are you on the development team at Microsoft? As far as I was aware of the final code is not done but please enlighten us oh great master of information.

  • 104 people are gay MacLovers

  • @Abrahandsome3200 linux ftw!

  • @Abrahandsome3200 I'm not gay, but I'm a mac lover and I gave it a thumbs up. I think Microsoft is moving in the right direction, but still has some work to do on UI and such. It's probably a bloated hog of an OS that will only make people need to purchase new hardware. I do think they're doing better with this because they're finally thinking about the end user experience.

  • @Abrahandsome3200 Nothing wrong with Big Macs... They're tasty.

  • @Abrahandsome3200 You're assuming all people who clicked 'dislike' are all Mac users?

  • @Abrahandsome3200 'gay MacLovers' — isn't that a redundancy?

  • @Abrahandsome3200 thats insulting to gay people everywhere.

  • AAAAh come on I just bought mi new core i7 laptop last week with Windows 7 and now Windows 8 its coming out? FFFUUUUUUUUUU !!! >:(

  • What about multi-touch? The guy never mentioned it....

  • @borkov4e well he mentioned on the browser that its set up for pinch to zoom, etc... so obviously it will have it

  • just to clear out the innovation thing, the windows 8 team did not pioneer in their interface... they just ripped off the windows phone and xbox interfaces

(AND NO the guys who made window 8 are not the same guys who work at xbox/windows phone. they just both work at the same company...)

  • also guys that guy was talking so fast so i didnt understand him

What the hell is ARM, like a nanocomputer or something? plz reply

  • @mahdoosify ARM simply is like another intel or AMD, Windows works on intel, but not arm atm. ARM processors are in devices such as the iphone, DS and more.

  • 1. the features such as the keyboard was a good idea

2.you can easily tell "windows 8" was not made for a laptop look at this! 15:47

3.they said they want the new user interface integrated with the old windows form, what they did is just include the OLD desktop and the new start combined...

    4. its almost like bmw wanted to have a sport and family car combined, SO THEY TOLD THEIR CUSTOMERS TO BUY BOTH CARS!!!

pathetic (the new features are still good by themselves)

  • So...we still have a normal desktop? Thank god.

  • @macwtf I am relaxed lol. It doesn't matter what age you are, you shouldn't live in ignorance.

  • i completely give up windows 8 and go to get a mac!! 12:00 is i want not fucking windows phone7 PC Verison!

  • 12:00 NO FUCKING SHIT. We have always been able to access our bloody files with the click of a button ever since the good old win3 times!!!

  • I'll be impressed if I can run this on an Intel Celeron and GMA.

  • now THIS is a windows OS i'd actually turn out my pockets for. kudos Microsoft!

  • @macwtf You have the wrong idea about computers entirely. Companies like Apple, Alienware and HP, they all get their components from hardware manufacturers like ASUS, nVidia etc. That's why it's better making your own computer, because you're buying directly from a hardware manufacturer.

Apple, Alienware and HP however don't make the hardware, so they have to get it from people like ASUS and nVidia, there's nothing wrong with that.

  • wibim.com.br

  • Firstly people think ipad is a tablet comp but it is actually a big ipod touch. type ipad vs ipod touch in google and you will be suprised, the ipod can do everything the ipad can do and more.

  • Wow. When this arrives on the Slate I am sure that many Ipads will end up in the draw.

  • Wow. when this arrives on the Slate I am sure that many Ipads will end up in the draw.

  • Can't wait to switch from my mac back to windows. I am already in love with 7, this should be better. One more year with this piece of shit macbook.

  • I love how she starts with "no video cameras" :p

  • FFFUUUUUU~~~~

  • FFFFFFUUUUUUUU~~~~~~

  • Seems pretty cool.

Can't wait to see it in person.

  • I like it, very promising. The only thing I hate about windows is the pri$e. If Win8 will cost under $30, I will purchase a genuine copy for every PC and laptop in my home, even the kids. Also, I hope to see good windows apps that cost less than $5.

  • microsoft FAIL!

  • @Chup2011 ahhahaah obvious troll is obvious

  • omg this looks like science fiction

  • 95 people run windows 1.0

    .

  • @Chup2011 Agreed, just random awkwardness, printing, and lots of usb sticks ... gigity

  • would it run on a mac?

  • @ArtyomArtium It will have native support for DirectX 11 libraries, you can read that spec from other sources.

  • MAKE IT SUPPORT KINECT CONTROL!!!!!!!

  • Just to clarify certain things. Windows 8 will have a GUI very similar to Win7, the one you see above is just optional similar to Media center in win7.. Secondly several "engineers" have reported 40% performance increase in several apps and games when moving from win7 to win8. Why do people complain? Because they are used to underwhelming and low-end software from Apple that looks good but performs like crap.

  • @stovnergutt Wow, first time I heard underwhelming and low-end describing Apple software. I'd be interested to hear some examples to back up that remark.

  • @wetpixels Support for very few games and high end hardware.. NOT very overclock friendly either. Nuff' said?

  • @stovnergutt Not every computer is optimized for games because not everyone is a gamer. Just like a Ferrari isn't any good for off-roading, but it certainly doesn't make it a low-end machine. With Apple computers you get a well built machine with software optimized to work with it. You don't get that anywhere else. I have a $4,000 Alienware Aurora, yet I use my macs much much more and have had virtually no software issues with them. I wish I could say the same for my pc.

  • @wetpixels Thing is. Apple products costs MUCH, MUCH more in comparison to what they are worth. Look at the macbook pro specs and price then compare it to PC's in the same price tag. You'll get 4x better performance for maybe 100$ less. Building a mac can also be a pain in the ass in comparison to building a PC. There aren't as many games available for MAC as it is for PC.. The list is endless. Mac is just a design product that lacks an acceptable price/performance ratio.

  • @stovnergutt Anything a person can buy is only worth what a person will pay. I don't have to tell you how many computers Apple has been selling lately, but it's obvious they're worth the asking price. Otherwise they'd just sit on the shelves like so many pc's.

You're a person who will most likely never appreciate Apple products. Chances are you've never owned one, so your opinion of them is a bit biased right out of the gate.
