  • keep left arm straight - you take the club too far in back swing so doing that will keep your back swing simpler and shorter

  • this is not a terrible swing, you just do not look like someone who has natural athletic ability. that is unfortunately something you cannot change...

  • this is fine. don't listent to any complicated golf talk. just get out there and practice. and don't bend that front knee quite so much. work out a little bit- it will help your athleticism and your turn...and your wife..

  • MIKE AUSTIN WAS THE GREAT TEACHES IN THE WORLD OF GOLF AND HE HIT THE GOLF BALL 515 YARD AT AGE 64, DAN SHAUGER LEARNED FROM THE BEST TEACHES AUSTIN, I HAD SEVERAL LESSONS FROM DAN AND NOW I HIT MY GOLF BALL STRAIGHT DOWN THE LINE NOW AND HE HELP ME WITH MY SHORT GAME AND PUTTING,DAN HAS 2 BOOK AND 27 DVD aperfectswing THANK TO DAN I PLAY A BETTER AROUND OF GOLF NOW GREAT TEACHES DAN IS you need to slow down a littleand turn to your left alway around so your toe down in the grass and your hill

  • sounds like evp interference

  • My only advice, quit trying to get advice from a bunch of internet critics, most of it will be misguided or contradicting. Go to an accredited pro... Well worth the money.

They have the ability to critique your swing biomechanics (just like everyone else online) but will have huge experience in how to teach someone the 'correct' swing.

  • Great to hear that the solicitors are busy with getting the right conditions that will lead to a vast improvement to your handicap. However out of spite your wife might go for The House The Kids and The Clubs so I will make a suggestion? go buy a cheap and nasty set to hand over along with your shirt. As you walk topless into your new life trudging like a lost soul down that beautiful garden path and out of your ex's life forever, don't look back.turn the corner and dance your way up to The Club.

  • Your Garden looks lovely, obvious that you spend too much time in it.Once the divorce kicks in and you stop gardening then I expect you to be playing off 13 within a year and 9 within 20 years.

  • See that football? well go learn how to kick that as your swinging a golf club like a WOMAN! I'm serious...If you want to learn golf then go buy Ben Hogans book The 5 Lessons. In it you'll hopefully learn about 'Active tension'.

Then get divorced give up your job and practice as much as is humanly possible....If that does'nt work go back to that football :-)

    ..

Ps. Never relax the body to play golf thats why your swing looks like a womans.

  • try using a golf ball! and then go from there.....

  • Stop the video at 0.17 and your problem is plainly visible, aside from the over swing. you are uncocking your wrists WAY,WAY too early. And don't listen to too much advice or you will go nuts. Go to the practice range and work out different grooves. You will be amazed at what you can find. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

  • Your back swing is 2 fast and try realeasing the club so you dont slice the golf ball and hit a straighter shot

  • opening up your right hip, keep your left hip still, well try to but it will naturally open up...! complete your backswing by rotating your torso not your hips.! this will help u eject the club to 1'oclock and prevent slices and will encourage more of a draw/ straighter shot!

  • Shorter backswing use a mirror because it will feel way to short but in reality it is still very long. grip down on the club and finally THE TOP OF YOUR LEFT HAND WILL CONTROL YOUR CLUB FACE SO SQUARE IT UP AT IMPACT.

  • Your head is moving way too much and

your arms are disconnecting from torso.

when your shoulders stop moving so should your arms. You need to keep your head

    still through out the swing.Keep

left arm straight and hands in front

    of chest through out swing.

  • Slow your back swing down and don't be so tense. Let your rists flip around once you get about to your waist. But the main thing is to slow everything down until you reach the top of your swing and then pull down with your left arm and make sure to have a high follow through.

  • make your swing flatter at the top

  • you should stretch your left wrist. This becomes a block system. and pull your club down with your left arm. then rotate the body thrue the ball. And you are to much on the inside of your swing plane straighten it up a bit.

  • you move your head alot on your swing which can mess up solid contact try to keep your head and spine the center of your swing...

  • You really need to push your hands forward, you have a bad concavity in your left wrist. The left wrist needs be be firm and straight, so it is easier to get your hands in a similar spot at impact.

    Give it a go.

  • The problem here is asking for advice from a bunch of you tube golf digest experts. Contact your local PGA for lessons or take up tennis. If you must ask for advice, you have to dynamically hit a golf ball, not tape a practice swing.

  • i was waiting for someone who could put my thoughts into words, thank you

  • disregard everything everyone else has written on here.

    now go practice/play golf.

  • Thanks, I don't pay that much attention to all these "experts" on youtube. I just enjoy a social game and would prefer to pay better.

  • hold a football between your knees when you swing. this will stop your legs from moving to much. also your hips move too much in the backswing so get a golf bag or a chair, put it an inch or two away from your hip on your right side and swing without hitting the chair/golf bag. this will keep your hips quiet in the backswing.

  • Well, as far as I can see, what you have to do is set up a drill where you bring back your club to about the level of your hip and make sure it's parallel to the ground. Every time you do that check the club toe, if it's pointing straight up then bring it all the way up. This whole time, leave those feet planted to the ground. It's possible trust me.

  • loosen up the tension in your arms and dont think to much about what you are doing wrong.

  • on the backswing your going way too much inside and at the top of the follow through, it just looks like theres no power, therefore no power on the ball. i am also a 17 handicap but i am 14 years old ive been working on more power, maybe that will help

  • outside-in path

  • your need to slow down, keep your head and lower body still, and do flexability drills

  • this is easy. your swing is all with your hands and wrist. thats what your doing wrong. you should be using the big muscles like your shoulders to produce your swing. you can tell right at the take away your hands are the first thing to move.

  • left elbow is bent and back swing is toooooo long

  • try a bobby jones video on youtube. he explains things very well. also, keep your head still and perhaps a slightly deeper angle on your backswing

  • dont take so long swing make it shorther

  • ok you've got 2 major flaws that i can see... 1: you're doing a reverse pivot on the backswing, and this is robbing you of all your power, and 2: you're taking the club too far to the inside on your backswing... i'll bet that with your longer clubs you hit a push-slice.... my advice... bite the bullet and go see a pro... DON'T LISTEN TO A BUNCH OF IDIOTS ON THE INTERNET!!!!!!!

  • just a shorter back swing and try not to rock your body off the ball... looks like u do it on the back swing and the follow through

  • On the downswing, try to point your belt buckle at the target with your shoulders square before you strike the ball. Hold your wrist cock until your hands pass the ball and keep your rear sticking out behind you.

  • It's not that your backswing is too long, but your left arm is too bent and that throws the club past parallel. Try turning with your hands directly in front of your chest throughout the swing. Don't try to pull the club behind you. Just cock the wrists upward.

  • Your sliding your hips rather than turning them, try that and you should gain power and shorten your swing a bit.

  • you people have the worst comments imaginable. Just confusing this guy. Just go get a lesson with a golf pro

  • when your on your downswing, try and put your weight on your left foot.keep your left arm straight in line woth the iron, for more tips subcribe to golf monthly from tesco for £11.50 a year it costs £3.70 AN ISSUE USUALLy (1 issuse comes out a month)

  • when you swing..you need to keep your left shoulder..left arm ..left hand..and the club in sync at all times...it takes a lot of practice..this is the part you must not fail...it is the foundation to all improvements to come...and as you swing...keep your turn with your left leg as the main reference...

  • you may want to use more of your arms in the swing...and grab the club more firmly..When you swing...please don't try to hit hard..or fast..power comes from swinging slow and deliberate...the more deliberate...the more power you get...keep all parts of your body in sync...from start to finish...and be proud and happy of your golf...

  • you may try to use "stronger grip"...which means you grab the club with your left palm with the back of your hand slightly "on top" of the club...and you need to balance the using of your body and legs...right now you use more of your upper body and less on your legs...good luck I wish you success in the game

  • make sure your head is down, not to down, but down. And you also wanna keep your left arm straight, and make sure that your right foot is up and turned towards your target at the end of your swing. Get the ben hogan book, its excellent.

  • your are tilting you spine on the way back rather than turning getting behind the ball, from that position you will through the club from the top with an early release, The drill for this fix would be hitting ball with your right foot pointed inward and your left foot pointing at your target

  • get Ben Hogan's book, "Five Lessons".

  • keep left arm strait give your self more room put the ball in your stance

  • try to keep your left arm straight

  • you havto use youre legs more drive vith the legs. And take it esy. It looks like you paying with a murdor thats gonna kill you if yo dent get birdie. my tips is stay came

  • Try doing a ten second back swing, pause for one second at the top then swing. Every practice swing should hit the ground. In fact your swing doesn't look bad at all As far as bending your knees all you really need to do is unhinge them. You want to feel comfortable and have good posture at address and throughout the swing. Relaxed arms will generate a faster club head speed and more natural swing. Only grip the club tight enough to keep it from turning in you hands.

  • well u need to bend ur wrists to a 90 degree angle and release at impact.

  • your backswing looks a little bit fast. take the club back slower.

  • slow your swing down

    then ull b okay:)

    check my swing out

    tip me please

  • Try slowing down your backswing a bit and also try hitting down more on the ball and keep your hands a little out in front of the club. Oh and try clearing your hips a bit earlier.

  • What you should do is get a clip of Ernie Els Swinging and compare it to your swing he has a real smooth swing and just by comparing swings i think you should notice your mistakes

  • I think it's lookin pretty good..your not so young and not the most athletic gay..so don't worry about your left arm being straight..what you can do is to change your grip.. you got no flexability in your wrists at all..and slow down the backswing.

  • slow it down and try to be a bit smoother, less movement in ur left leg on the backswing

  • Try to keep the left arm strighter and also at setup try to move your hips slightly towards the target.

    Keep at it.

  • dont bend the knee so much

  • its in your hips, twist them and stop bending your legs

  • take a good look at the mirror...ur fuc.ing ugly!!!!!

  • what u say, is what u r. GFY .

  • all i can say to help you out is slow your back swing down and swing easier, and second go get a lesson they know how to help you. dont just take the advice of weekend golfers.

  • Keep your head down after your follow through and keep your hips in motion through the swing dont be so stiff.

  • First of all, you need to check your grip. Your right hand is week so just get it where the crease in-between your thumb and index finger point down the shaft. Keep your lower body still in the take-away. You have a reverse-pivot wich means your right leg becomes unflexed and straightens. Work on keeping in how it is in address

  • Try keeping ur left arm straighter on the backswing - don't let your elbow bend. Try and turn your hands through the shot more - almost feel as if your right hand is guiding theball through the shot, especially with the driver. To prevent the slice with the driver when you try hitting it harder, i predict your hips are getting ahead of your hands. try to keep your weight behind the ball and feel as if you hit your driver off the back foot more, good luck!

  • give a look to tiger woods swing vision, look how he turns his hips in the follow through

  • don't grab to hard the club, try to do it smoother. Turn your hips and shoulders and let the club hit the ball

  • turn with your hips and shoulders, not your arms

  • your moving your body too soon

  • 5. The follow through

The above 4 points should get you hitting consistantly. Step 5 is the follow through. Get this right and your shots will go straight. Get that right foot up behind your after the hit, as it looks like you've mastered, and make sure when your club comes over your shoulder it's horizontal not vertical.

    6. Practice.

Hit 2000 balls at a driving range doing the above then repost your action.

    Hope this helps.

  • 4. The swing

There are two movements in the swing, your arms rotating around to hit the ball, and your body rotating. Hitting a perfectly straight and powerful shot requires both movements to come together at the point of impact. If the body rotation is ahead of the arm rotation you slice, if the other way round you hook.

  • 3. Head position on backswing.

Look at the ball and don't move your head on the back swing. You'll notice that your chest muscles compress together, your left should will come around under your chin.

  • 2. Back swing

Back swing is relaxed, almost lazy, not tense and jerky. You're coiling for release; you can take your time and get it right. Nice and easy.

  • Note: your butt sticks out a bit and your arms are free to swing below your chest. Also the ball for iron shots is positioned a little forward not dead center to your body, or just behind the line of your left foot. (For beginners it's absolutely vital that they have a method of addressing the ball that will get them in the same position for every shot no matter the club - such a position acts a reference point for muscle memorisation).

  • You need to address a ball for starters.

    1. Set up for the shot.

Stand next to the ball. Lock your knees so your legs are ramrod straight. With club in hand and arms straight, lean forward until your just about to to tip forward (just teetering on your toes) - where the club face is in this position is where the ball should be. Now bend your knees slightly and you're ready swing.

  • the top of the backswing..u must slow it down bro accelerate on the ball u are too quick at the top.try hands slightly more forward and slightly close the club face .

  • the main way to fix a fade or slice on a pwerfull swing is to keep your right elbow in tight to your body, and bring your right arm over the left in mid swing. you slice at greater swing speed because the cintrifical force of the club gets forcet outwards, and when the face is not square, the shot is not straight. another bit of advice is to move the ball towards your left foot in your stance

  • Hi, sorry but lot to say...

Lets start with your standing position,

little too close... bend a bit more your leg, ass up, head up

    back swing way too fast!

left arm need to be perfectly str8 during back swing

no need that left leg to bend so much!

and also work on your body weight transfer, because it's completely out of timing...

work on it, we'll see the rest later...

and please Don't do that scary dacing.. freaks me out

  • keep your head down and looking at the ball and keep your left arm strait

  • your bringing it too far like a baseball bat, make sure to extend your left arm it your upswing.

  • more cocking of the left wrist on your back-swing may give you more distance. your shoulders and hips need to turn together as you strike the ball, giving you the power from both your hip and shoulder turns.

  • dude, the best advise i can give you is disregard that comment below, just get you hands further away from your ear at the top.

  • 1. Don't focus too much on getting a huge shoulder turn!

    2. Lock your hips (minimum turn during backswing); keeping left heel planted on ground helps.

    3. Do NOT take club all the way to parallel at the top; stop with three-quarters of swing.

    4. NOW clear hip first, followed by shoulder, then by arms, hands, wrists. (keep right planted as long as possible as you hit through the ball).

    5. Slow down the tempo during backswing.

    6. Have fun playing the game :-)

  • u lift your head which makes an offcentre shot

  • for a 17 haNDICAP uve got a decent swing. ure casting the club and coming over the top.u can fix this by using ure wrists and shoulder turn for power rather then ure lower body. they are what controls the club and is where ure power is genereated.ure swing is also very tight so u can loosen it by using ure wrists. i have an unsual swing but im a 6 handicap. its truely what works for u. keep practicng and have fun.

  • I notice you are over-tilting on your backswing - instead of keeping a stable spine angle which would ensure more consistent ball-striking. You maybe prone to 'coming over the top' of the ball on the downswing causing a slice across the ball and a weak ballflight to the right of the target. You also 'sway' on the backswing and downswing - to hit the ball constistently, you need a strong stable base from which to swing around, created by a still lower body. Hope that helps. Cheers. ajw

  • yep swaying too much on ur backswing... keep your left shoulder on top of your left foot. and instead of moving the shoulder backward... let the shoulder turn whilst keeping your spine angle the stame. that way you have less moving bits = more consistency

  • I can see you left foot come up during the back swing, and it looks like your swaying or sliding back and forth instead of making a solid shoulder turn. All that swaying action must make it terribly difficult to hit the ball consistantly.

  • nice-i would suggest trying to keep your left arm straight durin your backswing and try to keep your head very still.

  • jon hads is right you need to film your swing when hitting a ball, NOT too bad for a 17 handicap

  • Your hands are ahead of your shoulders in the takeback resulting in power loss and your right leg straightens

  • slow down and dont break your left arm keep it firm

    and dront break your wrists!

  • You absolutely CANNOT assess a golf swing without actually hitting the golf ball. Regardless of where the ball travels, you MUST analyze your swing ONLY during a true golf swing. Your practice swing, and your actual swing are ENTIRELY different. ENTIRELY! I teach golf, and I would never recommend a golf lesson without golf

  • you need to work on tilting your front sholder up more at address and make sure your head stays behind the ball. It can move a little but never past the ball. also reply and state which way the ball usually travels from start to finish such as starts off to the right and hooks left.

  • Let you arms hand down naturally when you address the ball, it looks like your crowding yourself alittle bit.

  • Yea looks like theres abit of casting the club on the downswing causing you to release the club or wrist hinge abit early.

Try and maintain the between the left arm and club coming down into impact roughly 90 degrees, theres a few drills out there to help learn this move. Hope this helps you out.

  • 2 things: 1st you need to change your set up. Your head should be behind the ball so you can actually see the target, 2nd you lose your dynamic balance in your back swing. This is a problem of weight transfer.

  • Get a lesson. And to the idiots who say keep your left arm straight and your head down are so wrong it's laughable.

  • You need distance at the top of your backswing, you can't rest your hands on your shoulders up there, that kills all your power.

  • your lifting you head to early look at my vid i have a vid of tiger take a look at how he swings it

  • try 2 follow tiger's swing watch a video over and overn again and try it

  • it looks like you're "casting" a little...the angle/plane of your backswing is flatter than the angle/plane of you downswing. Look at videos of yourself and make sure that both motions are on the exact same plane, because casting is what most often causes a slice. You dont need to go to the extreme of Jim Furyk, but try to keep your downswing a little flatter and not so vertical.

  • keep your head still on the backswing

  • way to much wrist hinge. Thats all i can say. Very little thought to it. it looks very lazy and sloppy. just my advice pal =]

  • yo, golf swing teachers are full of shit, the only way to get better is to play and practice like a nut, mechanics have little effect, take john daly, jim furyk and sergio garcia for example. But you have to start your swing slower and with less jerkiness

  • Cheers for the comment on my vid, in answer to your question the courses that are in my video are a centre parcs one and Dunton in Essex both have really no dress code just ask for no football tops and you can't go topless! not really classy course but are more turn up and play. I think your swing is good can't really comment on it my self as i can just about hit it half the time.

  • you are sliding back on the backswing. you should do more of a turn or twist, that will create more coil in you hips, resulting in more power and less slice

  • don t flex your left elbow.

    grip good.

try not to move your legs up and down

  • Indeed, you've got to focus on your setup. Take your position one (first little part of the backswing) and mind your shaft is parallel to your targetline. After that you need to set your wrist. That will make your wrists stronger.

  • Try to find your nearest PGA Professional. It is the most sure fire way to fix any little yips in your swing which may ruin your game later. Also one piece of advice is try to keep your wrists stronger during the backswing and before impact... it'll result in greater distance.

  • ok first off, im a pga pro from california, you need to work on your fundamentals 1. your setup is is wrong your shoulders are square if you see any pro they will have a slight tilt in there shoulders 2. get a little forward press in the hands 3. take your chin out of your chest. grip looks good. just practice those three thinks
