The only thing to point out about what the difference is between here in the 2010 remake and the original from the 80s is that THIS alternate ending is more lengthy and complex than what happened between Miyagi and Kreese in the original.

I'd say that THIS ending mirrors EXACTLY what was shown at the beginning of "The Karate Kid: Pt. II" back in 1985.

I have nothing against Jaden Smith or Jackie Chan, but come on. The original 1984 film tops it all critic-wise! Not to mention that it gained recognition at the AFI and got an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor. The 2010 remake got neither of those.

Han's best friend will have a vicious nephew, ext. If you know the storyline for karate kid part two then you'll know what I mean :P

But Dre is a little too young for a life or death fight. if they are smart they'd make the 3rd films storyline the 2nd films storyline in this one. That way they can get the "revenge of the other teacher story" out of the way early. So that way by the time a third movie happens Jaden will be old enough for a "life or death" fight, and it would make more sense imo. They SHOULD have done that the first time with karate kid.

@DramaMC although, referring back to the original, set of movies, yes near the death is involved in the fights. But in the remake from what I can say death is not involved. I doubt Dre would have died from that final punch Cheng attempted to throw, and I also doubt that Mr. Han was in a position to kill Master Li. The remake will follow the same story line but just have a different kind of fight, not to-the-death.

Interesting scene. But I guess they wanted to end the movie like the original KK1. This basically takes the intro of KK2 to some degree and puts it at the end here. If anything, if they ever did a sequel, it could begin with a variation of this probably.
