if there is no one to interperet what she said how do you know that was the spirit of God or satan or a figment of her imagination. 1 corinthians 14 chapter says have someone the to interperet so that we can get what the spirit is saying to the church..and to see if it be of God or not. @IRighteous1978 and you will receive it. you just have to live holy and put away everything unlike God. I sought this for like over 2 years before God finally gave it to me. I reminded him of all his promises, stayed in prayer all day long! and he gave it to me! i cant help but get teary when it finally happened!
There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like receiving the Holy Ghost. It's...odd to explain. @10jaseera You have to understand, there is joy in receiving the Holy Ghost. I was smiling when I received it, I will never forget how I felt. Whew...

There are sooo many fake speaking tongues out there it is ridiculous. But this, my friends is real! This is the "sound" spoken of in John 3:8. This is the sound of someone born of the spirit.
wow... no WOW, this was my very first time witnessing a speaking of tongues that in no way shape or form could have been fake. She seemed simply embarrassed at first not nowing what she was saying. GOD IS GOOD!!
This video is Awesome and such a Testimony and prof to the power of God! The woman even tried to cover her mouth and started laughing cause this isnt what she was expecting to say. She tried to speak English but couldnt!! Hallelujah!! Thank God for Apostolic Empowerment!! Nuttin like my God, JESUS CHRIST!!!
The Lord baptized me with the Holy Spirit before I was baptized in water which was a year later. While I was under water the Lord gave me a beautiful vision. I came out speaking in the heavenly language. What a blessed kingdom of the Lord. Bless you KING JESUS.
Amen! Let your witness win souls in Jesus' name! I remember I received the Holy Spirit 2 months before I decided to get baptized in Jesus' name according to Acts 2:38. I don't think I've ever shared my baptism experience, but I remember coming up out of the water and seeing a bright white form ascend from the water up through the ceiling of the church. I spoke in tongues, and felt so clean, I just knew the Lord had remissed my sins, tossing them into the sea of forgetfulness!
@eltiempoescorto1 Wow! I know that's true because the same thing happened to me. A pastor at my church was just about to baptize me in water and I received the Holy Spirit before he could baptize me. I started speaking in a heavenly language (it was during a revival service, Dec. 31, 2000). After I was baptized, it happened all over again. To God be the Glory!
Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a STAMMERING tongue, [that thou canst] not understand.
Along with John86, this was prophisied in the Old Testiment. Read through the book of Acts, when people were filled with the Holy Ghost they spoke in other tongues.
Jesus... thank you for your manifested presence and the Spirit that resides in us. You paid the price for all of our sins that we may be reconciled to our creator. It's so simple, the gospel, but we make it so hard to receive. For your word is the unfallible word of God-open the eyes & ears of the people!
anyone can feel the presence of God, even I felt him before I received the Holy Ghost. but just because "I felt him" didn't mean i had the Holy Ghost. That is why IT IS VERY crucial to receive the Holy Ghost WITH the evidence of speaking in tongues. Because in reality that would mean the whole world would have the Holy Ghost. when in reality that's not the case. and as far as baptism goes, ACTS 2:38 IS the complete fulfillment of MATHEW 28:19. it is not contradicting one another,
You MUST be born again of water & Spirit to see or enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Being born of the Spirit is being born of the Spirit...you can't change God's mind on what it is. Jesus said everyone is born of the Spirit in the same way, (John 3: 8), and God has graciously given you examples of that experience, (Acts 2, Acts 8, Acts 10, Acts 19), including this young lady in the video. So if you haven't been born again like the examples in Bible I'd say it's time you believe God to do it for you!
Awesome video. THAT is the HOLY SPIRIT moving on that lady. With me GOD FIRST baptized me in the HOLY SPIRIT and months later I got baptized in the water. In acts with PEter and the gentiles too they first HEARD the word and the HOLY GHOST fell on all of them and THEN they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Awesome how GOD does it the way HE wants to do it and with some people it's laying on of hands (liek PAul) Peter was the WORD and other various ways GOD chooses.
nicknchrist, you have it right there! that is the truth! God chose it, just like how He chose bloodshed to atone for sins, and how He chose that if He became a man, His blood could be shed to forgive and wipe out all sins. Isaiah 28:11 prophecies the speaking in tongues. In the book of Acts, people spoke in tongues when they were baptized with the Holy Spirit. No, that's not the Gift of Tongues, for they are both seperate.
to jayizzle , why would god work differently no then he did them doesn't the bible say that he is the same today as he was yesterday or something like that?
I don't remember saying that that was the only time in the Bible that people spoke in tongues..but okay..
But you didn't answer my question, do you understand it? That is the difference from then and now. God empowered his disciples to do many things that are absolutely amazing to us now, but WE could never do what they did now. God doesn't give us power to go heal people by laying hands on them or anything..He worked differently then than now.
If you plan to reach those in foreign countries for Christ, great! I know of many people in my home church that went and did/ are doing that. And our church 100% supports them with prayer and also financially. But they ALL had to learn the specific language(s) that was required before going. You cannot go to the moon without the right training and equipment, the same applies if you are going to another country that doesn't speak you native language without knowing it yourself.
It just doesn't work like that. Are you saying that you know what this lady is saying when she came up? If so, do tell. I'm all ears. I would love to know what she is saying. Like I said before, God EMPOWERED the disciples then to do that during that time because of the situation. God does not appear to people in the flesh anymore as he did then, I don't know why, but He just doesn't, but you can communicate with Him through prayer. He works in different ways, but
He's still all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing. And I do not understand the last sentence..and I don't want to take it the wrong way...but I just want to tell you that I am a Christian, and me and my church (and hundreds of Christian churches that I know of) do not speak in tongues because, like I said, God works just as much as He did before but in different ways. And the Bible says,"For God is not the author of confusion..."1 Cor. 14:33 This video is confusing and no one can undrstnd it
Do you understand it? Do other people understand it? They used tongues in the Bible times because there were many people from different places who spoke many different languages. God empowered the disciples on the Day of Pentecost so that all that came to hear of Jesus could understand..and not have to try to translate it.
It's funny that people like you fail to read your own Bible. 1 Corinthians 14:2 - For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
a person who speaks in tongues must pray for the gift to explain what he said.how many people do you know that can explain what they say while speaking tongues.
corinthians warns of speaking tongues that in can do more harm then good to the church.People like yourself likes to take a couple of quotes and use to your advantage out of context.Read it all and learn what God really is saying.
It is what she has been taught by her chuch. Many churches say that in order to have received the Holy Spirit you must speak in tongues and its not true!
Instead many churches choose the book of Acts and Corinthians and misinterpret what they are saying and manipulate their believers into something that isn't Godly!
Im sure that what happened happened when it did, but this lady is only speaking this way because she has been conditioned to!
thank you so much for the comment i was going to a chruch that did this kind of stuffr and i didnt feel i was in the right place i had a feeling inside of me of something being wrong!
longbeachlt, if you felt that this type of teaching wasn't right then you should listen to your heart! However, if you are still searching then try different places. Not all churches are like the one you have described. Please don't be pressured into believing what others want you to believe. At the end of the day you can have just a good relationship with God without having to speak in tongues and conform to a certain way of thinking!!!
Acts238 ... so what exactly are you trying to say? What is your point? Other than quoting Biblical text to me, which could be interpreted to mean anything!
Acts238...of course you follow your heart! You listen and you pray and you follow, you become guided!
Im sorry you don't trust yours because I trust mine and God trusts me! I am very confident of that! What I am not confident about is the above video being truthful and also the fact that many believe that in order to be 'spirit-filled' you have to prove it by speaking in tongues and actually you don't!
8ellie88, the bible teaches never to trust our own heart, but to trust God. There are so many more scriptures that prove this. Aparently you don't know God's Word to well, nor having earned His trust. If you don't even know what the Bible says about men's hearts, then you don't know God, nor will you ever understand salvation or tongues.
jonn86, interesting that you are able to suggest that I will never know salvation when you don't know me or know about my relationship with Christ! A very well done for assuming what you don't know and casting judgement where it isn't your place to do so!
Well I'm not casting judgment, just making a statement from an observation of what you have stated. You told someone to trust their heart, yet the Bible has many scriptures that tell us to never trust our own heart, but only trust the Spirit of God. So since you've just stated to do what the Bible says not to do, then you must not truly know the Lord. I wasn't saying this to cast judgment on you, but to give you a heads up that someone is looking out for you. Sorry if it seemed I was judging you
jonn86... re read what I wrote .. I said that if this type of teaching didn't feel right then he should listen with his heart .. in relation to the teachings of the church. Not every church stikes the chord. My advice was good advice and that was to try and find a church that he fits into (not in the sense of fitting in with people) but where God wants him to be. It obviously wasnt that particular church! Thank you for your apology I understand what you are saying now.
I have to agree with you.i have visited a church where people claim to speak in tongues. The same people who go around with their nose in the air and judge you faster then they can open their bible.
yes I agree, with that comes the scripture, the misinterpretation of what is actually being said.
I don't know what your beliefs are but mine do not include speaking in tongues and having to in order to be saved.
Many churches teach people how to speak in supposed tongues and other just believe that they can in order to feel a part of a group. In order to appear 'normal' (according to their church).
Its a difficult subject especially when it is misinterpreted by others which is a shame!
Acts 2:38-39 says the promise is unto YOU unto your children, to as many as are afar off and as many as the LORD our GOD shall call. If you're called well, it's available to you. Acts 2, 1 Cor 12 and 14 mentions the divers KINDS of tongues. Its interesting that there's more than ONE kind or purpose of tongues. In short one is for private, another deserves interpretation and another one like Acts 2 was for the purpose of everybody hearing them speak in THEIR tongues. It's all in what I posted.GBU.
I sure hope they don't say they're Baptists because I'm a Baptist and we most certainly DO NOT do all this non-sense. This in no way brings glory to God, it's just a bunch of gibberish that no one can understand. Our church believes that if you trust in Christ that He died for your sins and you ask him to take you to Heaven when you die then that is all you have to do, just repent of your sins. It really is as easy as that.
Because an interpreter is not needed when someone is speaking in tongues as evidence that they have received the Holy Ghost. All through the book of Acts, there was no interpreter for those who spoke in tongues as initial evidence that they had received the holy ghost was there? An interpreter is only needed when someone is operating the gift of tongues to form prophecy. Tongues+Interpretation=Prophecy. God Bless you.
You all are talking about the Gift of Tongues, yet there is two times someone will speak in tongues. First is the Gift of Tongues, and you all are right. That should come with Interpretation. Then there's Speaking in Tongues while receiving the Holy Ghost. It's evidence for the believer that is speaking in tongues that they now have the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Yes, peace, joy, love, ect are signs of the Holy Ghost. But they are the Spiritual/emotional signs, yet tongues is the physical sign.
You are right, but this does not mean that in order to be spirit filled you must prove this by speaking in tongues! The Gift of tongues is not given to everyone...its not a given that once you are filled with the Holy Spirit you must speak in tongues! There are other gifts too!
(Joh 3:8) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
-
See, you're still focused on the Gift, and not the audio/physical evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. I have the Gift of Tongues and there is a difference. When I received the Holy Ghost, I spoke to God. I felt so much joy that I cried. When I use the Gift, someone interprets, and it's spoken to the church.
Im not focussed on the gift at all, I was replying to what you said! The audio/physical evidence is speaking in tongues or am I incorrect? I am pleased that there is someone with the gift of interpretation in your church, so that they are able to ensure that the congregation are able to understand and take away the information you are speaking!
Eh I'm not the only person with the Gift lol. We have a pretty good size church and we allow all gifts to be used in our services. Our Senior Pastor and his wife always make sure that there is order when the gifts are in use. And when there isn't, they take care of it right away.
But also is the Holy Ghost is a gift! The proof for someone to receive it is that they shall speak in new tongues(Mar 16:17). Who wouldn't want that gift?! Luk 11:13 says that if a earthly father can give good gifts, How much more can God give the Holy Ghost to those who ask for it? Acts 2:38 tells you how to recieve the Holy Ghost. Everytime the Holy Ghost fell in the Book of Acts, people began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. They were speaking to God, not the church!
When a person receives the Holy Spirit, it is not a prerequisite that they will speak in tongues! My point is there are many different gifts that God will bless us with, there is too much emphasis on the importance of tongues! It is not the most important gift!
Well I can't convince you my beliefs. I'm not going to force you to do so, that would be very unchristian-like. But I know for myself that I spoke in tongues when I received the Holy Ghost because I not only spoke in tongues but I felt the Spirit of God fill me from my feet up. Later I found I also have the Gift of Tongues and Interpretation, which is different than the tongues I've spoken each time God filled and refilled me with His Spirit. Hey, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
alonian0445, amen! It's the only sign I looked for when I received the Holy Spirit! I was an unbeliever, Atheist, and it was proof enough for me that it was real! Now 4 years later the fruit of the Spirit has grown through me, I'm not like I was before the Holy Spirit! I finally have peace, joy, happiness, meekness, and so on. But I didn't stop speaking in tongues 4 years ago. I find time every day to repent and ask God to pour out the filth I put in, and for Him to refill me with His Spirit!
THe gift of tongues is not given to everyone...and to my understanding is not just blabbering but more like if you went to another country or place that u did nt know the language if GOD wanted them to hear what you had to say they would hear your words in their own tongue even though you did not know their language.
I do have one question actually. Why, on the Day of Pentecost, was there no interpreter? Act 10:46, Act 19:6 had no interpreters either. 1Co 14:4 says "he who speaks in tongues edifies himself. Yes, there is the gift of tongues, but that's not the same as speaking in tongues when you receive the Holy Spirit. There is a difference! 1Co 13:1 says we don't just speak in earthly languages but also heavenly languages.
angelover7mrva, do you not understand that God works in secret? Yes, the Gift of Tongues is not given to all, but the Spirit of God is given to all that ask in Jesus' name. And those who received the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts all spoke in tongues. Did they have the Gift of Tongues? Maybe. 1Co 14:4 says he who speaks in "unknown" tongues edifieth's himself. 1Co 14:28 says they spoke to God and themselves, only if there is no interpreter. The gift also always needs an interpreter... ;-)
angelover7mrva- I'm very sorry to tell you this, but just like God does not appear to us in person anymore, He also does not have people speaking in tongues. That was only on the Day of Pentacost. If you want to communicate to other people in other languages to teach them the Word of God, please make your time worth while and learn their language because this speaking in tongues isn't getting them any closer to Heaven.
NOWHERE in the Holy Bible does it mention there being two different 'kinds' of tongues. There were different languages, yes, but I don't ever remember hearing about tongues edifying the 'self', they are meant for the church, to edify the church.
Umm, you need more bible study, 1 Corinthians 14:4 says "he who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. Love and peace!
That was the carnal speaking to the Spirit. Just because Jesus was, and is, God does not mean He didn't have limitations to His own flesh. But because He was and is God, He was able to not sin, rebuke Satan in the wilderness, defeat death, sin and the grave, forgive sins, ect ect. Also, all Jews were known as sons and daughters of God. When God became manifest in the flesh, He to took the form of a "Son" of God. He, though, was the only sinless Son. All-in-all, great is the mystery of Godliness.
This 'so-called' speaking in tongues is not a gift from God and it is not what it states in the bible! Tongues in the bible is a universal language...this means that if someone is given this gift from God then all different people from different countries, with different languages would understand what this woman has just said! Nope instead it is gibberish that she probably learned from her church!
Your explanation is exactly my understanding of the gift of Tounges....yet, I keep hearing that Tounges is a spiritual language, not intended to be understood by anyone else except God....why does God need another language other than what we normally speak...God understands our prayers, our thoughts, what is the need for this "gibberish"?
In 1 Corinthians 14, it states that the gifts that we may receive are one of many and there is so much emphasis on speaking in tongues (some believe that this is the only way you know that you have received the Holy Spirit) This is not true at all. Tongues should always be interpretated, it says that tongues were for the non-believers and not the believers, what many (not all) people practice is learned and Gods gift of tongues can not be learnt!
exactly... I'm still learning and it's very confusing sometimes for me to hear one thing from the church, which is still a baby, and then hear something different from my dad, who has experience, and undertsanding. I'd rather believe what he says (rather believe the Bible).. Dad says that there was no grey areas when the Bible was written, it was all black and white.. =)
I felt the spirit move in me...i have yet to recieve that wonderful gift from god, for now i mostly cry because i feel him...i feel light in my heart, it`s a wonderful feeling that i cant help but have my eyes fill with tears....AWESOME video
I'm glad scripture seems to validate our beliefs..
1 Corinthians 14:2 - For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. Your not suppose to understand what she is saying she is speaking unto the Lord.
I felt the Holy ghost move inside of me ,when she received! The more you speak in unknown tonques ,the more clearly you sound! Thanks for the video!Saen Spearman(sacred steeler) from detroit!

For your word is the unfallible word of God-open the eyes & ears of the people!
onealda 2 years ago
anyone can feel the presence of God, even I felt him before I received the Holy Ghost. but just because "I felt him" didn't mean i had the Holy Ghost.

PraisnJESUS 2 years ago
absolutely! But you don't have to speak in tongues!!! Its not a pre-requisite!!!
8ellie88 2 years ago
Awesome video. THAT is the HOLY SPIRIT moving on that lady. With me GOD FIRST baptized me in the HOLY SPIRIT and months later I got baptized in the water. In acts with PEter and the gentiles too they first HEARD the word and the HOLY GHOST fell on all of them and THEN they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Awesome how GOD does it the way HE wants to do it and with some people it's laying on of hands (liek PAul) Peter was the WORD and other various ways GOD chooses.
nicknchrist 2 years ago
nicknchrist, you have it right there! that is the truth! No, that's not the Gift of Tongues, for they are both seperate.

to jayizzle , why would god work differently no then he did them doesn't the bible say that he is the same today as he was yesterday or something like that?
paintballsensei 2 years ago
I don't remember saying that that was the only time in the Bible that people spoke in tongues..but okay..
But you didn't answer my question, do you understand it? That is the difference from then and now. God empowered his disciples to do many things that are absolutely amazing to us now, but WE could never do what they did now. God doesn't give us power to go heal people by laying hands on them or anything..He worked differently then than now.
Simple question, what did this lady say?
jayizzle21 3 years ago
If you plan to reach those in foreign countries for Christ, great! I know of many people in my home church that went and did/ are doing that. And our church 100% supports them with prayer and also financially. But they ALL had to learn the specific language(s) that was required before going. You cannot go to the moon without the right training and equipment, the same applies if you are going to another country that doesn't speak you native language without knowing it yourself.
jayizzle21 3 years ago
It just doesn't work like that. Are you saying that you know what this lady is saying when she came up? If so, do tell. I'm all ears. I would love to know what she is saying. Like I said before, God EMPOWERED the disciples then to do that during that time because of the situation. God does not appear to people in the flesh anymore as he did then, I don't know why, but He just doesn't, but you can communicate with Him through prayer. He works in different ways, but
jayizzle21 3 years ago
He's still all-powerful, all-present, and all-knowing. And I do not understand the last sentence..and I don't want to take it the wrong way...but I just want to tell you that I am a Christian, and me and my church (and hundreds of Christian churches that I know of) do not speak in tongues because, like I said, God works just as much as He did before but in different ways. And the Bible says,"For God is not the author of confusion..."1 Cor. 14:33 This video is confusing and no one can undrstnd it
jayizzle21 3 years ago
Now tell me, how does that bring glory to God if not one lost soul can be saved by it?
jayizzle21 3 years ago
Do you understand it? Do other people understand it? They used tongues in the Bible times because there were many people from different places who spoke many different languages. God empowered the disciples on the Day of Pentecost so that all that came to hear of Jesus could understand..and not have to try to translate it.
jayizzle21 3 years ago
It's funny that people like you fail to read your own Bible. 1 Corinthians 14:2 - For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.

Everyone sounds different. It's just the Holy Ghost speaking through you. It's between you and God. The perfect will of God being prayed. :-)
peytongurley 2 years ago
No its not!
8ellie88 2 years ago
thank you so much for the comment i was going to a chruch that did this kind of stuffr and i didnt feel i was in the right place i had a feeling inside of me of something being wrong!
longbeachlt 2 years ago
longbeachlt, if you felt that this type of teaching wasn't right then you should listen to your heart! However, if you are still searching then try different places. Not all churches are like the one you have described. Please don't be pressured into believing what others want you to believe. At the end of the day you can have just a good relationship with God without having to speak in tongues and conform to a certain way of thinking!!!

Acts238IsNotOptional 2 years ago 2
Acts238 ... so what exactly are you trying to say? What is your point? Other than quoting Biblical text to me, which could be interpreted to mean anything!
8ellie88 2 years ago
I was simply trying to say that you cannot "follow your heart".
Matthew 15:20 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:"
I surely wouldn't want to trust my heart.
Acts238IsNotOptional 2 years ago
Acts238...of course you follow your heart! You listen and you pray and you follow, you become guided!
Im sorry you don't trust yours because I trust mine and God trusts me! I am very confident of that! What I am not confident about is the above video being truthful and also the fact that many believe that in order to be 'spirit-filled' you have to prove it by speaking in tongues and actually you don't!
8ellie88 2 years ago
8ellie88, the bible teaches never to trust our own heart, but to trust God. There are so many more scriptures that prove this. Aparently you don't know God's Word to well, nor having earned His trust. If you don't even know what the Bible says about men's hearts, then you don't know God, nor will you ever understand salvation or tongues.
jonn86 2 years ago
jonn86, interesting that you are able to suggest that I will never know salvation when you don't know me or know about my relationship with Christ! A very well done for assuming what you don't know and casting judgement where it isn't your place to do so!
8ellie88 2 years ago
Well I'm not casting judgment, just making a statement from an observation of what you have stated. You told someone to trust their heart, yet the Bible has many scriptures that tell us to never trust our own heart, but only trust the Spirit of God. So since you've just stated to do what the Bible says not to do, then you must not truly know the Lord. I wasn't saying this to cast judgment on you, but to give you a heads up that someone is looking out for you. Sorry if it seemed I was judging you
jonn86 2 years ago
jonn86... re read what I wrote ..
8ellie88 2 years ago
I have to agree with you.i have visited a church where people claim to speak in tongues. The same people who go around with their nose in the air and judge you faster then they can open their bible.
interested777 2 years ago
yes I agree, with that comes the scripture, the misinterpretation of what is actually being said.

God Bless you.
alonian0445 3 years ago 8
You all are talking about the Gift of Tongues, yet there is two times someone will speak in tongues. First is the Gift of Tongues, and you all are right. That should come with Interpretation. Then there's Speaking in Tongues while receiving the Holy Ghost. It's evidence for the believer that is speaking in tongues that they now have the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Yes, peace, joy, love, ect are signs of the Holy Ghost. But they are the Spiritual/emotional signs, yet tongues is the physical sign.
jonn86 3 years ago
You are right, but this does not mean that in order to be spirit filled you must prove this by speaking in tongues! The Gift of tongues is not given to everyone...its not a given that once you are filled with the Holy Spirit you must speak in tongues! There are other gifts too!
8ellie88 3 years ago
(Joh 3:8) The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the voice thereof, but knowest not whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
-
See, you're still focused on the Gift, and not the audio/physical evidence of the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. I have the Gift of Tongues and there is a difference. When I received the Holy Ghost, I spoke to God. I felt so much joy that I cried. When I use the Gift, someone interprets, and it's spoken to the church.
jonn86 3 years ago
Im not focussed on the gift at all, I was replying to what you said! The audio/physical evidence is speaking in tongues or am I incorrect? I am pleased that there is someone with the gift of interpretation in your church, so that they are able to ensure that the congregation are able to understand and take away the information you are speaking!
8ellie88 3 years ago
Eh I'm not the only person with the Gift lol. We have a pretty good size church and we allow all gifts to be used in our services. Our Senior Pastor and his wife always make sure that there is order when the gifts are in use. And when there isn't, they take care of it right away.
jonn86 3 years ago
it is given to EVERYONE! its a gift! you don't deserve it the lord gives it to you!
fliper201 3 years ago
The Lord gives many gifts....tongues is not the most important! You are given a gift according to what God believes you should have!
8ellie88 3 years ago
But also is the Holy Ghost is a gift! The proof for someone to receive it is that they shall speak in new tongues(Mar 16:17). Who wouldn't want that gift?! Luk 11:13 says that if a earthly father can give good gifts, How much more can God give the Holy Ghost to those who ask for it? Acts 2:38 tells you how to recieve the Holy Ghost. Everytime the Holy Ghost fell in the Book of Acts, people began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. They were speaking to God, not the church!
jonn86 3 years ago
When a person receives the Holy Spirit, it is not a prerequisite that they will speak in tongues! My point is there are many different gifts that God will bless us with, there is too much emphasis on the importance of tongues! It is not the most important gift!
8ellie88 3 years ago
Well I can't convince you my beliefs. I'm not going to force you to do so, that would be very unchristian-like. But I know for myself that I spoke in tongues when I received the Holy Ghost because I not only spoke in tongues but I felt the Spirit of God fill me from my feet up. Later I found I also have the Gift of Tongues and Interpretation, which is different than the tongues I've spoken each time God filled and refilled me with His Spirit. Hey, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
jonn86 3 years ago
If you have not spoken in tongues though, then you have not received the Holy Ghost. When god puts his spirit in you, you WILL speak in tongues.
alonian0445 3 years ago 2
You are incorrect!
8ellie88 3 years ago
alonian0445, amen! I find time every day to repent and ask God to pour out the filth I put in, and for Him to refill me with His Spirit!
jonn86 3 years ago
that is awesome and true, because the Word says " this is a sign not to those who believe, but those who believe not"
GirlinTheJeanSkirt92 3 years ago
THe gift of tongues is not given to everyone...and to my understanding is not just blabbering but more like if you went to another country or place that u did nt know the language if GOD wanted them to hear what you had to say they would hear your words in their own tongue even though you did not know their language.
angelover7mrva 3 years ago
I do have one question actually. Why, on the Day of Pentecost, was there no interpreter? Act 10:46, Act 19:6 had no interpreters either. 1Co 14:4 says "he who speaks in tongues edifies himself. Yes, there is the gift of tongues, but that's not the same as speaking in tongues when you receive the Holy Spirit. There is a difference! 1Co 13:1 says we don't just speak in earthly languages but also heavenly languages.
jonn86 3 years ago
angelover7mrva, do you not understand that God works in secret? Yes, the Gift of Tongues is not given to all, but the Spirit of God is given to all that ask in Jesus' name. And those who received the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts all spoke in tongues. Did they have the Gift of Tongues? Maybe. 1Co 14:4 says he who speaks in "unknown" tongues edifieth's himself. 1Co 14:28 says they spoke to God and themselves, only if there is no interpreter. The gift also always needs an interpreter... ;-)
jonn86 3 years ago
angelover7mrva- I'm very sorry to tell you this, but just like God does not appear to us in person anymore, He also does not have people speaking in tongues. That was only on the Day of Pentacost. If you want to communicate to other people in other languages to teach them the Word of God, please make your time worth while and learn their language because this speaking in tongues isn't getting them any closer to Heaven.
jayizzle21 3 years ago
NOWHERE in the Holy Bible does it mention there being two different 'kinds' of tongues. There were different languages, yes, but I don't ever remember hearing about tongues edifying the 'self', they are meant for the church, to edify the church.

What is the NAME of the God that Jesus was praying to in John 17?
Oct31st1517 3 years ago
That was the carnal speaking to the Spirit. Just because Jesus was, and is, God does not mean He didn't have limitations to His own flesh. But because He was and is God, He was able to not sin, rebuke Satan in the wilderness, defeat death, sin and the grave, forgive sins, ect ect. Also, all Jews were known as sons and daughters of God. When God became manifest in the flesh, He to took the form of a "Son" of God. He, though, was the only sinless Son. All-in-all, great is the mystery of Godliness.
jonn86 3 years ago
This 'so-called' speaking in tongues is not a gift from God and it is not what it states in the bible! Tongues in the bible is a universal language...this means that if someone is given this gift from God then all different people from different countries, with different languages would understand what this woman has just said! Nope instead it is gibberish that she probably learned from her church!
8ellie88 3 years ago
Your explanation is exactly my understanding of the gift of Tounges....yet, I keep hearing that Tounges is a spiritual language, not intended to be understood by anyone else except God....why does God need another language other than what we normally speak...God understands our prayers, our thoughts, what is the need for this "gibberish"?
rosepetalwine 3 years ago
In 1 Corinthians 14, it states that the gifts that we may receive are one of many and there is so much emphasis on speaking in tongues (some believe that this is the only way you know that you have received the Holy Spirit) This is not true at all. Tongues should always be interpretated, it says that tongues were for the non-believers and not the believers, what many (not all) people practice is learned and Gods gift of tongues can not be learnt!
8ellie88 3 years ago
