@Ur2Dadz Well a game designer involves knowing the roles of everyone else on the team as well.. Designers usually have a background in programming or modelling or something (programming helps the most tis all).
You need to know you math because programming language requires alot of math. Im not great at it but there is alot of math but not enough to kill you. Just taking a course in Alg II would be alright for you guys who don't like math. If you are really passionate and commited to wanting to design games take higher math classes and take programming classes. and buy C++ and C# books, no one will teach you these languages better than thoes books.
sometimes, mainly the head people will come up with the storyline and the charahcters and you just design the whole video game. sometimes you can give out some opinions to design some stuff but mainly just do what the boss says. some good game designers can make up to $60,000 in your first year and if u been with a comapny for so long, you can make up to $90,000-$100,000!
What do you mean by characters? Backstory - writers, appearence - model/texture artist, animation, audio, voice, there's all sorts of stuff.
The game designer makes important decision about the gameplay, what the game will have, mechanics, number of levels, how much content, controls, GUI, etc. They're pretty much the ones that make sure the game is fun, not just pretty to look at or nice to listen to.
the easier and best way to enter if your young is to google, 3d game engines, select and engine (3d gamestudio) for example then start there, u'll learn alot and it'll also let u kno if game design is right for u
That's a good way to determine if you like to make games...
I suggest reading "Beautiful Evidence" and "Emotional Design" as a start. And go to school. Not a game school... a real school. Then get a career doing something else. Coming back to game design after you get some life experience.
i get strait A+'s in math i have a large imajination I'm an extremely Strong reader I always point out a games flaws, and I'm an amazing artist People tell me.
im sorry didnt catch tht cz of the noise in the bkground. i wanna b a games designer. im quite strong in math workin towards a B. is tht good enough? wt other subjects do i need to studdy? hw many GCSEs do i need? some1 plz help
Advanced computer programming skills are necessary (a university or college degree in computer science or a related field). You must know at least one programming language (such as C or C++) as well as assembly programming language. You should have an in-depth training in graphics, operating systems, business applications, platforms (PCs/Macs) and game consoles (Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo).
C++ is not developed by Microsoft.

isn't that how you become a game programmer, not a game designer.

@gbhighentertainments Storyline is done by the writer.
