@WayneYonke Woah! That's what I thought. The chorus does sound like a cartoon. And as for the idiot uploaded that did a half ass job recording it— just buy an mp3 and it won't sound bad like this.
@carmoves. Kind of. I get the cross-stick sound being very Police. Stewart Copeland wouldn't have gated his snare so much. And all the chirpy percussion with it makes it sound dated.
Glad there is a lot of love for this song. It kind of blows- sorry. It has a lot of interesting elements, but they don't work in my opinion. Even in '86 I thought it sounded like a bad attempt at Sting and the chorus sounds like it belongs in a cartoon. Could have been, should have been, ... FAIL.
I wish he'd do this live. I think a lot of songs from the Bridge album he's never played live. He's even played "Easy Money" live, so it is surprising the Bridge has missed out so much.

Joel is (or was) obsessed with doing what you'd call 'impressions' of every available pop star, ray charles, the beatles, dylan, Springsteen, elton john. I hadn'dt heard him doing The Police. In spite of his strong personality he is like the Zelig of rockandroll!
Good observation..I was just listening to the police the other day and it's definetley there, I love that Billy has covered every style though..He makes it his own..I never get bored with his music there's such a variety
Billy is the most versatile artist around I would say. It is a Police sounding song for sure,They are great, but so many songs were in the same "Sca" style. This is as good as any Police song in my opinion.
I think it's great that I've known about Billy Joel for so long, yet I am still finding new songs by him that become my new favourites. Here's to another one.

Only Billy Joel can use a word like "ulterior" in a song and make it sound cool.

Billy Joel said he wrote this song for STING, and decided to keep it for himself.
The drums are very Police.

@CarMoves Yeah, I'm certainly getting a Police vibe from this song.
