I've had a matted strawberry garden here in Georgia for 5 years now.I've never seen a bird near it,only rabbits on ocassion, so I was suprised to hear that part.In a 3' by 16' area they are producing enough every year that my kids, my wife & I snack on them all summer.Easy to grow & healthy, kids love them, hard to beat that.Previously,we lived in NY and never had any issues with birds there as well.Is it a Colorado thing or have we just been lucky?
@tsukiomilover You cut off the plant just above the ground and throw it away with the straw or mulch (NOT on the compostpile because of diseases) cover up the roots with fresh mulch to keep them warm during the winter.
they can have kids?? na jk i like the video i just got my strawerries seed to come out and im so like ahhh!!! cool is my firs time growing strawerries and i did it the hard way by seed!!! =)
@jerrydff7 where did you get your seeds, I been searching but they really don't have much varieties. I want to grow June bearers, everbearers and day neutral types.

Good video! Our YouTube channel has a new video put together by 4th & 5th graders on strawberries & e-coli. Check it out if you can.

what worries me is so much open dry soil, rather mulch or cycycle cardboard, dont leave the soil open
