she looks alright in this, but she looked so much better in THE MIRACLE WORKER. I loved her hair in that but now she's become properly famous she lost her natural look
ONE of her best recorded efforts ~ and this song did well on the pop charts for her, being a
good follow up record to "Don't Just Stand There". For some reason, she's truly singing along with her own recording here, and her voice sounds a little muddy because she was already double-tracked and then she's singing along live which makes it triple-tracked technically - the people who are in the background (like Darlene Love) were not the background voices on the record.
First: Ever since I was a child (in the 1960s) Patty Duke was always my fave. It is so great to be able to see these clips of her from "Shindig!" which were filmed at the height of her "Patty Duke Show" era fame.
Second: Seeing "The Blossoms" singing back-up to not so great vocalists (again, I love Patty but even she admits she wasn't the greatest singer). Especially Darlene Love. God knows what they must have been thinking. I guess they were happy to have the exposure and the pay check.
This was the mindset of the 60's. People, mostly teens used music to relay thoughts or messages to someone they cared about.
Watch her facial expressions closely.

marshamc: The Blossoms were Shindig regulars on every week and did backup vocals to many of the songs on that show.
