That isn't that high. We went a couple years back where an F250 got swallowed up by the river. As in, it was completely submerged. Made it through with the Pathfinder though ;)
@alexrex20 It's where the fresh water creek from the foothills meets the ocean water, so it's a mix. Depending on how fast the creek is flowing, high surf, etc determines how much salt water is at this crossing point.
great video,, i miss going there, i grew up going there in my uncles willys jeep,, now i live in wisconsin and we drive on the water not threw it,, since they all freeze solid here in winter
Salt water is not good for vehicles. Most people pressure wash truck and trailers as soon as they get off the beach or get home. If not, it get ugly real quick! The rust finds places you never see, like electronic boards! I've heard of people putting sprinkler heads under the truck and let it run for awhile. What ever works....
Going next Wednesday, can't wait! I'm sure you've heard of this story. But I was taking a stroll on the beach and right next to the area they have fenced off for animals. There was a seal that washed up with a HUGE chunk missing on its side. I might be exaggerating a bit, because it was like four years ago, but this chunk was HUGE!
@L0rdsprinkl Yeah...I have a friend who flew over the shoreline in Pismo/Avilia/etc. and he said just off the beach there are sharks. Yes..sharks! Unless you plan to boogie board out past the waves and wear a black wetsuit you'll be fine. The danger most people don't realize when you in the water waste deep, is the rip currents. In some area's on the beach it's bad, and that current can take someone out to sea at any moment. Forget the sharks...think rip currents! Ask the state Life Guards.
Nice video. I love watching everyone attempt to cross the creek. I remember as a kid all of us heading down on busy weekends watching all the valley rats get stuck. Good times. What a wonderful place to be from!
Yes, very bad for vehicles. Most truck and toyhaulers will start to show effects of salt water (rust) within a few days if not pressure washed asap. Electrical issues start within a year or two. The newer vehicles have better protection and way more plastic so it doesn't effect them as much. The creek crossing is fresh water from the foothills so depending on timing when crossing will determine how much salt water vs fresh water gets on vehicles.
Yes, very bad for vehicles. Most truck and toyhaulers will start to show effects of salt water (rust) within a few days if not pressure washed asap. Electrical issues start within a year or two. Older vehicles tend to get the worse of it of course, but the newer vehicles have better protection and way more plastic so it doesn't effect them as much. Rims on the tires stick out the most...rust and dull if not cleaned right away.
You have to pay $5 for day pass or $10 for a night pass. It's a state park, so yes...you have to pay, but it's not that much considering hotels in the area run $150+ per night.
Something fun about watching people hydrolock a engine from being stupid. :)
