I'm born and raised in NY and Saturday 4/23/11 was the first time I ever saw a show at this venue. It might be the best place in NY for concerts. Holds about a thousand. The people who saw this gig must of had the best time imaginable. A guy told me the best place for sound is in the balcony section. There isn't a bad viewing spot in the whole place.
There is something harmonically interesting happening at 4:03. I think Bono resolved the tension in the progression, but the Edge wasn't done making it, well, tense.
I was there that night, I was the last few to win a pair of tix off krock 92.3( miss that station it's gone now). Me and my brother were second in line when the doors opened getting there at 9am helped although the doors did not open till like 7pm we made the best of it leap froging to the bar on the comer threw out the day we got to meet the band as they came in side door for sound check they were nervous playing such a small club but man they rocked!!!!
@spikelive Agree that it's a different vibe, much more a la If You Wear That Velvet Dress or An Cat Dubh. I like both versions, but this is the adult version. ;-)
this is about the same speed as the original single. the band generally liked to up the tempo during their earlier tours. for example, an cat dubh during the war tour as opposed to vertigo tour there's a huge tempo difference. granted they were both amazing during both tours.
I saw them on a pier by the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier in NYC '83 on the "War" tour. Didn't even sell out. Snuck in my bulky Panasonic cassette recorder. Someday I'll burn it to CD.
i heard this song for the first time on their live album "under a blood red sky".now after 2 years i hear this song again, and i have to say wow.great performance
A thoroughly remarkable song, and its truly a shame that it only made a few appearences on Elevation and none on Vertigo. I have the tapes from this concert, and I really wish I was there. Perfect sightlines and acoustics. U2's arena anthems sound so cool in a tiny club like Irving Plaza
The amazing thing about this song is the different tempos mullen jr switches between. That guy is a phenomenal drummer and one of the most underrated drummers out there. He ranks up there with neil peart..both are drumming gods.
Lacks the required 80s atmosphere. Still good however. Maybe it was the hairspray in the air.

Glad they played it, but they need to keep it at its original speed! Bring the UABRS version back, and we're talking about some epic music.

This really works i tried it 1. Cover your mouth with your hand
2. Make a wish into it.
3.Close your hand (make it into a fist)
4. Hold you hand(the fist) to your heart for 5 seconds.
5.Send this to 3 more videos.
6. Tommorow will be the best day of your life
