    NEVER flex them up.

  • Why not flex your toes upward, it is only in dance that it is so important to keep the toes pointed this exercise is really helping me get into the splits. Not that I want to fall out over it xo@ShannonBVBPitts

  • @wendz011 accidentally voted up, sorry. I change my comment, when somebody first starts out stretching, keep them RELAXED. When they're more advanced and can already get into the splits, then flex/point them. It messes up the muscle a bit.

  • @system0Fhonor In my basement i have a handle like a normal cabnet handle and its on the wall and i pull myself closer and closer! It really helps

  • yea right i cant use this cuz the back of my knees hurt too much and im not stretching beyond my limits that could cause pain and still it when i get out of the stretch position it hurts even more

  • yandykun - Thats what happend to me !!!

    But now i can do this stretch and just go as far as you can without the back of your knee hurting.Try and stretch everyday and then it will no longer hurt :) x x x

  • true, but it's half an opinion (depends what you consider pain), half a strong possibility that the pain you feel that's besides the normal stretching feeling is injuring your muscles

  • I cant even get in the forward position, thats how bad my stretch is. I can do the front back splits no problem, but strattle is way off.

  • look do what she sez , berath throu your nose and each time you do go down fether , put your legs in a writght  angel position at first , it hurts but no pain no gain

  • it depends, but dont worry about how long it takes as ong as you get it , i split ma jeens when i tryed it randomly

  • for me it took a couple of months, stretching for about 20 mins everyday. it will be different for everyone but generally the more frequently you stretch the quicker you will get your splits =D i've heard of people getting their splits in a matter of weeks, so good luck.

    i used to do gymnastics, and i can do the Box Splits easily, but have never done these ones well.

  • Thank you. This is just what I was looking for to get flexible enough to do the straddle splits properly.  To the viewers saying this is not the splits, this is the splits. Just not with one leg in front and one in back. That's why it's called the STRADDLE splits.
