its the book that gave birth to swing concepts such as stack and tilt, morad and many others. it is actually quite an arduous text. but never the less it is very very accurate and describes the actions very well.
The golfing Machine is not difficult. The people who claim it is are criticizing without comprehension. If you can throw a ball you can follow the fundamentals of the golf swing. It is a skill. If you think the golf swing is a natural thing then you will have problems. We all learned to drive a car- took a skill- but does anyone think from there you can race in NASCAR? The golfing machine is like that- you can go as far as you like with it.
you're right faderjoe. at first it appears "complicated and scientific" but once time is invested it is very rewarding. i wrote the above very early on in my TGM experience. you have to admit that a first read of the yellow book without having heard anything else about it is a bit ovewhelming. once it all digests it is like all accurate principles or wisdom - the complicated suddenly seems so clear and obvious and, more importantly, correct.
TGM is a resource book tarin. It's not a method and there is no "TGM swing." Be careful of attempts to use it as a method textbook. BTW yes it IS quite complicated. But there is lots to learn in golf for those who want to learn this stuff.
What are the basics? 1-A FLAT left wrist at impact 2- a Lagging clubhead behind the hands 3- STRAIGHT plane lines. Only the clubhead travels in an arc. Everything else is straight. Add a stationary Head to pivot under. Simple
