you dont nedd to tight all 3 cams in the chuck one uses a jaws you would have to do it independently if it was a 4 jaw chuck also learn what your saying because i may be a kid but im a tool and dye maker and when i heard you talk i looked at you like you had 8 heads
@yourhighnessglass entrapment basicaly you could easily break a bone here, or on a larger lathe, your life ,if you insist on wearing sleeves because youre cold maybe then go for a very tight fit so nothing is hanging loosely
The bed is too short for much drilling from the tailstock...otherwise an acceptable lathe. My speed control burnt out early on. Change gears are plastic, but work OK.
online they're 699, in my store ad it said 599 on sale for 499. Sign in the store said 279! But sold out, was gonna pay 500 for it.... I have one at work but would be nice for projects. Louder than the one at work for sure! At snobear our lathe is huge and can barely hear it.
people need to check places like, Enco, Grizzly, MSC industrial supply for accessories for this little beauty, also a threw jaw chuck is fine for alot of stuff but a four jaw is more accurate turning like with in .00005 thats five-ten thousandsths of and inch. also when your figuring speeds for turning and faceing use the cutting speed in the machinest hand book multiplyed by 4, divided by the work piece diameter remeber use the speed closet to that figure not over
Which quick change tool post is that, where did you get it, and how do you like it. Im on several of the mini lathe pages and have seen several quick changes and some have pros and cons. Little machine shop???
I wonder how many of these lathes you helped to sell for HF? lol I've been looking at this lathe for a while too. Wish you wouldn't put these on here. Got the fever now. LOL Thanks for video.
Hello , I also have the harbor Freight 7x12. I enjoyed your 3 videos very much and I am going to try out your ideas as well as Im sure others have done. I am new to the hobbie and have not used my lathe yet. I do hope that you will have more videos to watch as time goes on. Thanks for the time you used ,to help others like myself. Fred
I use my powerfeed all the time. just for turning down stock, though- I haven't found a need to make threads thus far. Where can you get a cheap quick changer?
Neat machine! About saftey, I couldnt help but notice you left the wrench in the chuck there.... never ever do that! Sorry for being a bitch, but I just had to.

@OutdoorScouting This technique works great on a drill motor to keep your drill bits from slipping and coming loose in the chuck.

I bought this lathe today with zero experience just wanting to learn and have fun. Why dont wear any long sleeves?

Grizzly is pretty much the only place to get basic parts for this lathe. Little machine shop may have some accessories also.

What's the largest diameter of round stock you can turn on this lathe?
I'm looking for something that can do at least 1.5" got any suggestions on a lathe size?

If you get the Quick change tool post, pay the extra bucks to get the wedge type. It holds more rigidly than the piston type.

Can you please do a video just on that tool post?
The video could have the following:
What was required to mount it.
How to adjust the tool height.
Parting tool in operation,
Boring bar in operation,
Knurling tool in operation, etc.
Thanks!!!

Thanks for making these videos.
I've had my 7X12 mini lathe for several years and love it. You don't need it every day, but when you do it is indispensable.

nice. lathes are better than drill presses. Hybrid mill-lathe would be my ideal workshop tool.
