    1+5= STRAWBERRY

  • @ipodxdude lol this made mah day

  • Awesome...I learned all in 1 time...I'm proud of myself. Btw, there were the first official words that I learned so....\nn/O.O \nn/

  • @twetwe1997 Yah it is but it's not the ichigo in bleach

  • @TheNFI97 yes it is... :-) that's why they always make fun of his name in the first place :-)

  • lol itchigo means strawberry :D

  • このビデオの音楽は何ですか?

    本当知りたい。

  • Fruit is "Kudamono" right?

  • Helpful!

  • 1:17 Its mukuro-sama =D

  • For some reason the test at the end gave me the giggles.. It was fun! XD

  • I studied japanese in college, but I'm a bit rusty, so I'm finding your videos very helpful in re-learning things. Do you have any about basic conversation?

  • @blackrussian9 We have loads of basic conversation lessons at our website! Please give it a try! yoroshiku onegai shimasu. ^^

  • how come starberry is written in kanji and not hiragana most japanese users sue hiragana don't they? i see them alot in hiaragana in anime as well like tokyo mew mew

  • @takahashiwongwong I'm not sure what is usually used, but from what I have heard Kanji is used in legal documents... And TMM is awesome btw :)

  • @takahashiwongwong Both the kanji and the hiragana is used depending on the situation. :)

  • Thanks! At second 48 I think I understood something. :-)

    You are great!

  • LOL momo

in our language it means ghost XD

  • @manhidnatao

Well, we haven't got anything like that, but in our language tsuki (moon) means cute (we only write it as cuki). And a "great" singer made a song where she always says "Cute I'm cute". So she always says cuki (tsuki). And the Japanes maybe don't know what's up with the moon. (If they do not speak hungarian and only hear that sentence.) xD

  • @jiggawhoification There is Hiragana which is used for traditional Japanese words such as Ichigo "Strawberry" then there is Katakana which is used for foreign words in the Japanese language. Like Pineapple. Kanji is also used for traditional Japanese words, that is why when Strawberry popped up it had it written in Kanji and Hiragana. Kantan Kana is not any form of Japanese writing, I believe that is just what one of the learning Japanese shows is called on youtube. Keep up on the practice :)

  • is this hiroko? sounds like her heh

  • so is strawberry sutoroberri すとろべっり or ichigo いちご ?

  • what alphabet are they writing in for this video?

  • I got banana and mango right fuck yeah!

  • Hm. Okay. Banana is Banana. Gunna have to write that one down.

  • hi, i watch bleach, when the strawberry popped up, i screamed ITS F***ING ICHIGO!

  • BANANA!!! I HAVE BEEN SAYING SOMETHING IN JAPANESE WITH OUT EVEN KNOWING IT SINCE I WAS 4!!

  • Banana is pretty much similar in every language it seems.

It's either banán, banan, banana, banaan. lol

  • I laugh everytime she says banana :D

  • Where's LEMON? :'(

  • banana was the eaisiest to learn! XD

  • so ichigo from bleach means: straberry. good to know =)

  • @SubSurreal didn't you notice his friends calling him "srawberry" in the anime x3

  • My problem was that I couldn't remember what some of the fruits themselves were xD

  • wait um it says apple is ringo but she pronounced it...dingo o__O am i hearing it wrong?

  • @purplestripes69 The "r" sound in Japanese sometimes sounds closer to a "d" to English speakers :) You actually touch the roof of your mouth with your tongue when you pronounce it.

  • @japanesepod101 the "r" is also pronounced like an L right? at least that's what my jap teacher tells me:P

  • @fusionofhearts lucky you I live in sweden and only learn swe and eng in my school cuase I only lived in south korea for 3 months then I was adopted!!! I really think you are soo lucky cuase japanese is so cool and just fun to learn and everything!!! Japanese is so AWESOME!!!

  • @thedemonfox98 haha, i'm asian, and i live in Singapore. we learn eng but we have 4 official languages. (eng, chinese, malay, tamil) so we learn another one based on our race. (usually) i chose to learn jap as a third language though(:

  • @fusionofhearts why chinese??? and in my school ( to 6:th grade I´m only 12 ) you can read your first language if you want. but you had to live in that country for a special time. sry bad eng

  • @thedemonfox98 cause i'm chinese:) my ancestors were from China. The government practically forces all singsporeans to learn their mother tongue, so were start at a really young age(about 5) Singapore doesn't really have a language that "belongs" to us(i'm not counting singlish)

  • @japanesepod101 "The "r" sound in Japanese sometimes sounds closer to a "d" to English speakers" And pudding is often transcribed as プリン. :)

  • @purplestripes69 i think you are. if you miss the very first part of the R it will sound like DINGO. but if you hear the R, it might sound like L too. the R and L sound are much alike, but D does come from a similar place. If you can get an L R D sound, then you are saying it right XD

  • so ichigo from bleach english name is strawberry lol every time i see him im gonna think of a strawberry

  • @meowmeow131

actually the kanji is different, i love this

    he's 15, and his name is ichi(#1)go(#5)

but in the anime when he fights jidanbo or something (SoulSoucietyGatekeeper) he says his name means "one who protects" also one of the visoreds called him berry boy or something

    -overkill-?

  • @meowmeow131 lol i know! it's funny how you usually never hear of anybody named "Strawberry" or something like that here in America. But there are some names like "Rob" which is a verb or "Paige" which is like page of a book. But we usually don't even think about it that way, so I'm sure that they don't either ^^ I love the Japanese language.

  • why does pineapple has a small 'tsu' between "na" and "pu" ?? is it not pronnounced? then why being there?

    plz reply

    thx ;D

  • @MrDar3k It's a small っtsu rather than a normal tsu, thus used to simply lengthen the sound that follows.

  • @ikkoikki the small tsu in hiragana is used to create a small pause and in katakana is used for lengthen the sound?

  • さくらんぼのイントネーションおかしいよ

  • I think i have banana and orange and mango down lol

  • Surely most of these fruits could just be said in an English style and would be still be understood.

  • I am trying to learn japanese, but I dont know if you have to learn kanji or not.

  • @Exoterapin

    In short: Yes.

What's the point in learning a language just to be illiterate in it?

漢字 isn't difficult to learn, it just takes time. But learn kana first.

  • @ytubeaun well isnt haragana as important as katakana.?? right now im almost done with haragana and gnna start katakana , but kanji?!! ahh it seems really difficult. could u plz give me any website that teachs kanji or anything (book , ..) that helped u to learn kanji?? arigato gozaimsu seinse

  • Ahhhh banana is almost the same in every language O_O

  • @karlanickita thats becuz banana is a fun word and should be shared with people around the world....

  • @karlanickita BANANA IS A FUN WORD I AM 100% SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!

  • @MsPichuTheOverlord

Banana, yeah its easy to say! lol

  • @roudydoberry it's sakuranbo

  • the only one i can't get down is the cherry sakudambo

  • @roudydoberry Really :D It was fairly easy for me. I've seen word Sakura everywhere. Cherry trees are so common in Japan. Japanese people even have hanami festivals to celebrate the beauty of the cherry blossoms. :3 Also it's a name in Japan (you know Sakura from Naruto?) What about Sakura Chirari sang by c-ute? Suika's more difficult for me cause I can't come up with any rule of thumb for that..

  • The watermelon kanji is 西瓜

  • Comment removed

  • I REALLY LEARNED!!! I know them all by memory now! :D ♥ Thanks!

  • omg when I heard Momo I thought of Momo from Avatar!! (btw meh watched entire series but meh no know what to think of movie :() then when I heard ichigo I was like "omg BLEACH!!" Yay, Ichigo Kurosaki!! Anime does teach you!!

  • @adropofmermaidstear lol i thought the same thing!!!

  • why in the end there is a little count down? I just want to get on to it. >.>

  • @dimesonmygrassXx It's a quiz! You're supposed to try and recall the words before time runs out :)

  • @japanesepod101 That's stressful

  • most of the fruit with hiragana don't have a kanji or what?

  • Yum! :D

  • 桃 だよ!

  • I only missed cherry!!

  • i love these videos!

  • YAYZ!! I got them all right!!!

Geez, learning these things is VERY addicting lol.

  • if feels like the sound "itchi" in everything

  • Wonder ful, I have a dictation exam the next monday, this is so helpful

  • yay I got all the foreign fruit right! I missed watermelon though =[

  • why are the characters being switched around from hiragana to katakana each fruit

  • Katakana is used to lable anything that has a other languge pronounciation

  • Aww i love you for this vid!!!

  • I suppose you're learning new words, good for you, and those you'll talk to.

  • Now I want fruit ._. *runs downstairs*

  • why isnt pineapple "pineringo"?

  • That's cute! XD

  • @japanesepod101 i heard orange as mikon before, it might b tangerine though, not sure

  • @dale456654 Is there a language in which Banana is not Banana?????????

  • @gothcraft Banana in the Philippines is Saging (SAH-G-ING)

  • @gothcraft but banana is a fun word......

  • The easiest fruits to remember are:

    *Apple

    *Banana

    *Orange

    *Mango

    *Melon

If you don't remember those words you're dumb...

  • How "nicely" put of you, and of course you could decide that people are dumb just because they couldn't remember a certain word, that's all the information you need to know, right? Hope you'll - or anybody else - never becomes a teacher WITH that attitude.

  • getting hungry!

  • is so easy if u put here 100000 words i will learn in 1 year japanese

  • is that website free..if so i will then join, if not..sorry, cuz my parents won't let...can u tell me

  • that was really funny and cool ^_^

  • Tsuika amai desu ne. Totemo suki desu !

  • @paexou

Watermelon is sweet isnt it? I like it very much!

    Hahaha I agree with you!

  • MiyaKipp2945: Hontou ni desu. Watashi wa omou anata wa mo totemo suki desune. ^^

  • @ paexou

Yep I love just about every kind of fruit there is lol

  • banana and orange and mango should be easy to remember!

  • I did it!^^ I really did it!^^ Except. i forgot how to say apple. :-) lol

  • it's the same as the japanese horror movie ringu xD

  • The words in this video have been the easiest to remember. It must be because of the pictures.

  • Thank you so much providing this!! I know all of the words, thus far, but I don't know the kanji or hiragana or katakana for them!

  • So I think japanese is the coolest language ever.

Is there a Center or Master language?

does every language revolve around one language that they can refer back to?

    Arigatou X )

  • @dgk990

a lot of languages revolve around either germanic, roman, or chinese

    English is germanic!

  • @dgk990 latin and sanskrit are two ancient languages tht are the basis of almost all languages in the world.

words in all languages are evolved from latin and sanskrit, and there is an argument going on that oriental languages such as japanese, korean, thai and malay are evolved from ancient tamil, a south Indian language evolved from sanskrit, and chinese.

  • Hummm oishisoo kudamono !!!

  • i all was wanted to lern jap i never thot it wold be here

  • what about english first ?

  • i allredy lerned english so nopelolz X3

  • I wonder what Ringo Starr would think if he saw what

the word for apple is in Japanese.

  • yay got them all in the end = ]

I really like these lessons and the background music just calms you down imo, keep it up! ;)

    とっても すごい

  • I like it when they test you at the end

  • このビデオはorangeをオレンジと呼びます。でもみかんは正しい言葉と思いました。どちらもいいですか。

    (Also please correct my Japanese!)

  • I don't know about correcting your Japanese (mine isn't great), but mikan is not an orange - same family (citrus), but different fruit. It is a mandarin

  • burnsy11's right - the mikan is similar to a mandarin orange, much smaller than a usual orange. I imagine that what we call orange was foreign to Japan before being brought there by westerners - thus they use the English word in katakana オレンジ.

Sorry, I'm the video guy - not the Japanese expert. :P

But it would feel more natural to me if you said:

    どちらでもいいですか?

  • now i'm hungry....

  • I like fruit

  • thanks

  • sweet
