you inspired me to keep with my dreads i started them this past july 2011 and its in that stage where i just wanna put on a head tie constantly. I am married so i still wanna keep looking cute to keep things interesting but short dreads are sooooooo hard to style!!! I think i will go the head band and hat route its soooo hard and my dreads are still locking so doing styles seem like it might stressed my dreads out during their budding phase.

You are so gorgeous & can pretty much look rockin' in any hairstyle! I'm just amazed it took four years to grow your hair that length! It maybe takes me 5-6 months to get to your length from a pixie cut. O_O; (my hair's a weed I guess lol) You are very creative and I liked the color combos & jewelry as well as cloche hats you MADE (wow talented) that just look so awesome & put together on you!
@corkydawl84 dreads take longer to notice growth because they're cultivated in a coil pattern. so instead of my hair growing straight down, it grows in a spring like shape which is then twisted again into locs. that's what's commonly referred to as shrinkage with loose natural hair. straightened my hair would be a lot longer :_
@chescaleigh I have a few locs that are thin in the front like you did. I am not sure if I should combine them or not. I think my hair line will look crazy if I did combine all of them that are thin :/

haha. i watched this on a whim but i am so glad i did! I cut my hair short about 2 years ago and it has just been getting shorter and shorter since then. It' s finally so short that i could no longer cut it anymore without shaving it(and that's a big no no for me) so now I'm in a weird stage where it's grown out about an inch so i wanna cut it again but then again I want to grow it long just so I could have fun cutting it short again :D

She is very understanding about the short phase more than I do. For me the biggest thing is I want them to lock so I can swim and do everything I want to do. I will share your vid with her. @chescaleigh I did not mean it in a bad way gal, I just meant that in a friendly way. But I love the loc trend because it means we can finally redefine our own look and be proud of who we are and share that pride with everyone else in the world. We are the only race of people that has to change the way it looks in order to be accepted and now we are saying take us as we are. You don't know how empowering that is. And, my hair is no longer an issue. I forget that I have locs even at work.

I've head dreads for two years and though I love them because my hair is growing for the first time ever; and the falling out, thinness, and breakage from perms is GONE...generally thought, I have just been wearing them down. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I've head dreads for two years and though I love them because my hair is growing for the first time ever; and the falling out, thinness, and breakage from perms is GONE...generally thought, I have just been wearing them down. Thanks for the options. I will use these styles all the time. I'm on my way to the store now to get some pipe cleaners!! So beautiful!!

Your hair is absolutely beautiful!!! I wish I had African hair SO badly....there's so much you can do with it! I've got seriously boring pin straight blond hair thanks to my Norwegian heritage. Blegh.. :P
I can dream though...I've known a couple girls with hair similar to mine who have gotten dreads..maybe someday I'll get up the courage to do it! Not sure it would look good on me though. Anyways, thanks for sharing! Your hair is amazing! ^_^
