Mir wurde schon geraten, es zu ignorieren, aber wenn ich mir die Kommentare durchlese, egal unter welchem Wagner-Werk, komme ich nicht drum rum, das Wort Nazi zu lesen.
@ilyffaad: Had an argument yesterdsay with a guy who said Jews hate Wagner. Every Jew I know who loves great music loves Wagner. So the nazis liked Wagner - they also liked Neitzsche and didn't have a clue what Neitzsche was saying.
@bleed4freedom The Nazis did had a clue, sometimes, what Nietzsche was saying. However, where Nietzsche was talking about the individual spirit, the Nazis interpreted a people. Nietzsche theories do not only reflect on the individual but also on society for some. All im saying is that you do not necissarily understand the man if you interpreted it differently.
@DutchPetriot Cleanest air takes a hero to take a cleaver to it! I heard Nietzsche and I could breathe again! Separating self from truth is unforgivable. An insurmountable injustice they did the man posthumously!
I'm sorry, clearlogicify, but iF you can't figure out WHY the Confederate 'Stars & Bars" Flag would be as offensive to Blacks as a Swastika is to Jews, then your lost.
I can't understand what there is about the Great Richie Wags that brings out the racist NUTS.
@LeRinkRat You and I are winding up on the same Wagner posts and I totally agree with you. Yes, the racist nuts come out of the forest everytime there is Wagner...still great stuff. Period. I LOVE this, and it is going to be played at my funeral when my coffin is brought in on the shoulders of my pallbearers...perfectly fitting.
@clearlogicify Yeah? And? Just because the Nazi's liked Wagner and reportedly played his music over the speakers at concentration camps doesn't mean that his music is indelibly marked with evil. If you can't listen to this without Nazism and war crimes in your thoughts then don't listen to it. Don't you fucking dare try to ruin the music for everyone else.
This is a wonderful interpretation, actually amongst the very best!
I presume this is the Budapeste Radio Symphony Orchestra recorded by Deutsche Grammophon. The main differences between this piece and other interpretations are (a) the tempo (a bit slower); (b) the crescendo (it grows dramatically); and (c) the chorus with orchestra only. It is very difficult to find this specific interpretation. Angels singing! Magnificent!
This was played at my father´s funeral, once his coffin was entering the graveyard. The sole remembrance of it still rocks my heart and soul, entirely...
Genius - the most amazing chorus, and especially the orchestral crescendo from about 2:10 onwards gives me the shivers every time. Don't think I can ever hear this wonderful music without crying. Thank you for the beautiful photographs, also.
excellent sound quality on the recording and wonderful choices of images in the slide show. you did a wonderful job. thank you so much for sharing this.
Instead of asking God, you COULD donate money for the benefit of thousands of displaced families and eradicated property, serving an even better purpose than invoking the power of prayer.
hear the music and see the disaster in Japan. so I know that mankind is just a small peace of a neverendig story on a small planet called earth. life will go on, here on earth even without us.

Beglückt darf nun dich, o Heimat, ich schauen,
und grüßen froh deine lieblichen Auen;
nun lass' ich ruhn den Wanderstab,
weil Gott getreu ich gepilgert hab'.
Durch Sühn' und Buß' hab' ich versöhnt
den Herren, dem mein Herze frönt,
der meine Reu' mit Segen krönt,
den Herren, dem mein Lied ertönt.
den Herren, dem mein Lied ertönt.

Once more with joy O my home I may meet
Once more ye fair, flowr'y meadows I greet
My Pilgrim's staff henceforth may rest
Since Heaven's sweet peace is within my breast.
The sinner's 'plaint on high was heard
On high was heard and answered by the Lord
The tears I laid before His shrine
Are turned to hope and joy divine.
O Lord eternal praise be Thine!
