tackles dont normally pull on pitch plays. The guard pulls. Try slideing ur protection to where ur going and motion a wr to where ur going and find a whole. You dont have to go outside all the time FIND THE WHOLE

3-4 defense. That OLB's job is to "CONTAIN" the ball carrier. That is to keep him on the inside and force him back into the middle of the field where he has defensive help. If that OLB is not up on the line like that then the GAURD would have been able to pull and seal an edge. Should have called an audible. You cant say this is the games fault. Plays do not always go as planned. Different defensive formations effect how well the play works. The defense was in a good formation for this play.
if u knew football u would kno how to fix it all u need to do is tell the linemen to block the opposite way that the runningback is going and doing that it seals the edge and u will almost always get at least 6 yards a run, so stop hating on the game it is the best that has came out in the last couple years

Why pitch the ball if you know your going to lose a lot of yards? 3. I don't have the Pitch in my playbook. 4. I think the pitch play works if you've already got your inside running game working to the point which the defensive line has to pinch and squeeze to contain it.

First off that was a half back toss.. and you should have broke up the side for about 10-15 yards....especially since the lineman went to the quarterback.. Go to 3:51 and pause it...there is your hole...and at least 5-8 yards on your "Pitch"" play which you ran on a 4-3 defense... You should have gotten swallowed.. simple as that.
how about you run around the edge that seems to work for me & if you see a hole in the inside go there. & if you got defenders coming to you, spin & they probably will trip. you just went to close to the defender which will happen in M09. & I can see James Harrison doing that in real life against one of those fat tackles/gaurds where he push aside them, so i have no problem with that

good vid but take into consideration that it will be much difficult to execute a toss or pitch play on a 3-4 defense especially the steelers 3-4 defense... in a 3- 4 defense the outside linebackers are positioned a greater distance to the out side as oppose to a traditional 4-3 outside linebacker alignment

u see the madden guys work on new features and player weapons(which no longer exists) and presentation(which they had to do) but the animation and gameplay is the same as the year before madden 08 was making great progress then after they fired David Ortiz(the producer not the mlb player) they changed the whole aspect of madden and this is what they have to show for it.

I learned long ago that when you buy the newest version of Madden that you're payign 60 bucks for updated rosters.
If you take Madden 07/08/09 and try to edit the rosters by creating or trading players outside of franchise or any other mode you'll get a shit ton of salary cap/minimum player errors that make it tedious and near impossible. This is because EA doesn't want the user to update the rosters on their own, instead they want you to buy the next game for the updated roster.
Whatever point you are trying to make, I think you are not correct. This happens in the NFL all the time. RB should have cut up field. You are stretching here. Lets let EA focus on whats important... The Physics engine and animations...

First , you are pitching to the weak side of the formation, with an OLB aligned outside of the the tackle, Asking your guard to be able to seal on that play should not be expected, Now asking him to be able to kick out the OLB, and have the running back cut up inside should have been how that play developed. It may have not gotten a lot of yardage(again weak side) but it wouldn't have been a loss.
For the play to develop as you wanted it to would have involved you motioning your tight end to the play side or having an overload on the strong side of the formation and having the OLB on the weak side aligned over the left tackle.

3-4 defense. That OLB's job is to "CONTAIN" the ball carrier. That is to keep him on the inside and force him back into the middle of the field where he has defensive help. If that OLB is not up on the line like that then the GAURD would have been able to pull and seal an edge. Should have called an audible. You cant say this is the games fault. Plays do not always go as planned. Different defensive formations effect how well the play works. The defense was in a good formation for this play.

I watched this video over and over and over again. As a Madden gamer, I have came to a conclusion. 1. Doing a pitch play against a good defense you will always lose. 2. Why pitch the ball if you know your going to lose a lot of yards? 3. I don't have the Pitch in my playbook. 4. Running the ball requires vision, had you of done that pitch right, there was a cutback lane up the middle you could have broken for a big gain. 5. Guards aren't meant to pull, just follow your fullback, you will get yds

Play some real football and then you can criticize madden. You don't even know what you're talking about. There's no way you should expect that pulling guard to make a reach/hook block on that defender. All you got to do is ride your fullback's ass up the cutback lane. The game is perfectly fine, quit your complaining and learn that not all pitches go to the outside even if they're meant to. Stop trying to find mistakes.

All of you who are criticizing him for not making the cutback are idiots! This video is describing something that should be correct in Madden. 1 because Madden is the $h!t and 2 because these are NFL players. How many times have you seen a NFL run pitch play in which the O line blocked they way they did in this video. OK some of you say it happens sometimes but it happens more than 75%. And that offensive lineman doesn't even chip the DE to slow him down. CMON guys we have to demand better

are you seriously mad that the steelers defense made a good play? there's nothing wrong with the play. if they blocked perfectly every time, that would be completely unrealistic. the defense will win on some plays just cause you got stopped in the backfield doesnt mean theres somehting wrong with the game, it means the defense made a good play. if pitches worked perfectly every time that would be a HUGE problem. you should watch a real football game every now and then. dumbass.

OK people, he was showing the OUTSIDE pitch. Keyword OUTSIDE. There are a lot things he could've done like audible to quick slants, but that would be an outside pitch.
He was comparing this play to the same play in All pro football. In that replay he didnt need to cutback because everyone blocked correctly

ok heres the thing you had a cutback lane for an easy 5 yards...if the blockers cant get to the edge then its their responsibilty to give the running back a cut back lane and its the running backs resposibility to find that cutback lane...look at all the great running backs they could all find the cutback lane...so maybe your just not as good as you think

you probably never played fottball huh the takle on a sweep play does not block the linebacker if he is pitchingfirst off so that clause is not not right but i can see were you making sence with the fullback getting blocked by the guard but yea the tackle (on a sweep) does not block the blitzing line backer unless he is comming from the outside witch he is not

First off that was a half back toss.. and you should have broke up the side for about 10-15 yards....especially since the lineman went to the quarterback.. Go to 3:51 and pause it...there is your hole...and at least 5-8 yards on your "Pitch"" play which you ran on a 4-3 defense... You should have gotten swallowed.. simple as that.

how about you run around the edge that seems to work for me & if you see a hole in the inside go there. & if you got defenders coming to you, spin & they probably will trip. you just went to close to the defender which will happen in M09. & I can see James Harrison doing that in real life against one of those fat tackles/gaurds where he push aside them, so i have no problem with that

good vid but take into consideration that it will be much difficult to execute a toss or pitch play on a 3-4 defense especially the steelers 3-4 defense... in a 3- 4 defense the outside linebackers are positioned a greater distance to the out side as oppose to a traditional 4-3 outside linebacker alignment

u see the madden guys work on new features and player weapons(which no longer exists) and presentation(which they had to do) but the animation and gameplay is the same as the year before madden 08 was making great progress then after they fired David Ortiz(the producer not the mlb player) they changed the whole aspect of madden and this is what they have to show for it.

I learned long ago that when you buy the newest version of Madden that you're payign 60 bucks for updated rosters.
If you take Madden 07/08/09 and try to edit the rosters by creating or trading players outside of franchise or any other mode you'll get a shit ton of salary cap/minimum player errors that make it tedious and near impossible. This is because EA doesn't want the user to update the rosters on their own, instead they want you to buy the next game for the updated roster.

the cb should crack back on a lb and fb should watch the first threat from the outside . the tkl should blk his man from the outside shoulder in. and the pulling guard is just to dang slow. gaurds are fast ass hell in the leauge and madden dont express this in the game. but this play dont work because the tkl didnt block his man lined up on him

First , you are pitching to the weak side of the formation, with an OLB aligned outside of the the tackle, Asking your guard to be able to seal on that play should not be expected, Now asking him to be able to kick out the OLB, and have the running back cut up inside should have been how that play developed. It may have not gotten a lot of yardage(again weak side) but it wouldn't have been a loss.

For the play to develop as you wanted it to would have involved you motioning your tight end to the play side or having an overload on the strong side of the formation and having the OLB on the weak side aligned over the left tackle.
