  • i played a little when i was in the army, and enjoyed it big time. nothing like this level though. our drum major, a 2btn royal anglian, told us that the top drum corps, including the marines use a ghost tipping method. is this true/common. Timed rightly it would be hard as playing for real.

  • You've got the complete video of this whole event??

  • thats how you do it

  • why do they bring their sticks up to their noses?

  • Do you have to use traditional grip?

  • @drumhead95

All use traditional grip except when there is a static when a Premier HTS200 is used, then the 1st's player does whatever he needs to do to get the desired result for what he is playing

  • fleet review. or fleet for short.

  • @TheGarreth1991

    It's Fleet Review

  • Does anybody know waht this drum set is called?

  • beating retreat?

  • We do stick drill, it looks smart, though the junior drummers forget and it looks shoddy. I was given a pair of royal marine drum sticks but they are too light because its hard work playing our school drums because they are proper traditional field drums and are like 100 yrs old. I go to Christ's Hospital school. our marching band is quite famous. I wish our drummers would take parade as seriously as the marines!!

  • Ive seen the CHS band perform. Really good. Im Sure if you showed this video to the Drummers they would be more enthusiastic about using Stick drill. Gotta love the RM CoD!!

  • by playing with the liter rm sticks it maybe harder but it will make u a better drummer! eventually it just wont matter what sticks you play with! your drums will be hard to play on but they encourage you t be lazy so you sould apply more pressure to the sticks which will give you better control and sound better rather than using the bonce!

  • its called stick drill

yer lyk he sed looks smart wen dun properly and puts on a 'show'. not sure were it originates from

  • Stick drill is an ancient form of semaphore for communication across the battle field. As far as I understand.

  • too right m8

    fukin nob recked it

  • Would be nice if the narrator would shut the fuck up...

  • No there isn't

We also do it, just for fun, it looks nice.

Have you seen the movie drumline?

  • Its not for fun - I'm a drummer... Its to keep timing and to make the band look good, Thus... the drummers are at the front.

  • its a shame it cuts out when it does

  • yer i completly agree although there r sum gr8 vids of the band at portsmouth on you tube
